  1. Surprised this is still here, as there aren't many around. Owners seem to want to hang on to them.... Perhaps it's not a good time to advertise a bass for sale, so close to Christmas?
  2. Back off hold + available again (Facebook buyer didn't show! Sigh) I have just removed the trade option on this bass - so straight sale only now.
  3. I've been there too..... this bass does look lovely. Something about aged white colour body and red tort + rosewood. I've been after a JV lately, but I'm wondering whether to switch my GAS desires to this very bass? Oh what to do? Advice please BC'ers
  4. Glad you're happy with your new bass Jamie
  5. Just to let folk PM'ing me about this bass know..... I have a potential trade for a RW Jazz in progress.... Not gone yet, but if we're both happy, it may well be gone over Xmas
  6. I've used a couple of KiOgon's wiring kits, and they are top quality components which are well put together, and easy to fit to your bass. If you're thinking of getting a wiring kit for your bass - you won't do better and have an easier job of fitting than one of John's looms Buy in complete and utter confidence folks Have a good Christmas John, Nadolig Llawen from Wales
  7. If only I could "find" such things at work! PS Brook_fan..... any hints on Saturday's lottery numbers? lol
  8. Absolute steal for the money! Cracking bass As it's made in Indonesia, I think this is a Vintage Modified (VM) series? The Indonesian made Squiers I've played have all been great quality for the sort of money they sell for And this one is a Christmas present for some lucky BC member - heck it's a Christmas and birthday present all wrapped up in one Don't see many of them around either.....
  9. Not played one of those Ibanez short scales, but they do look pretty good. I've had a couple of Ibanez basses over the years, and played several more. They always seem to be well made instruments. I was just going to suggest a second-hand Squier Short Scale Jaguar (be careful to make sure it's the SS version though - they do a full scale model too) I've seen them go for around £130 - £150 and they're great value for that sort of money Not played a Squier Bronco - but I did consider getting one at one point - because they look quite small and compact, and as they're quite lightweight, it would suit the folk pub-jams I occasionally do Good luck with your purchase
  10. I've heard nothing but good comments about these Matt Freeman sig P basses, and I must admit - I've sometimes thought about getting one to leave at a rehearsal room, and well, just cos they look so damn nice! If it's anything like the Classic Vibe P bass I once had (cos it was made in the same factory) - then it's a great bass for the money GLWTS
  11. Thanks for posting that link dodgnofski
  12. Wow! That's a superb bass for that sort of money if I needed a fretless... This would be mine now. GLWTS Frank
  13. Let us know what you think of the strings, once you've played them for a while Ricky 4000
  14. Aw shucks. Why thank you so much for the kind words Paul S (no relation! lol) PS, my paypal account is not working.... do you accept Green Shield Stamps? (there are a few of us on here who will understand that comment.....)
  15. John T - if you're drop tuning the E string to D, then I'd say the TI Flats would probably not cope too well, as they're such low tension However, the Adagio's may just work, as they're around the same tension as many rounds (perhaps a tad more than some) Re your wife's statement - she's probably right for many things - however, for those Adagio strings it should be changed to "buy cheap, buy twice as many, and they're just as good" Honestly, I've tried several flats over the years, and they are as good as strings costing far more, and I'd say a good intro to flats
  16. Thanks for that TorturedSaints - I've got an NS Design CR upright, with a decent, powerful pre-amp in it. Might just order myself a set of these If it can cope with your Aria, it should be fine with pretty much anything, I suppose....
  17. Just found this on YouTube - an interesting test.... but I wouldn't be tempted to try it on my Fender
  18. Save petrol.... come over & collect it on your pushbike! It's a cracking bass kristo - I'm just not using it since I got it....
  19. Thanks for posting that link MoonBassAlpha How would they handle a bass being plugged directly into them, via say an MP3 player? Can they handle the signal / frequencies OK? I'm assuming so Cheers
  20. For Sale Only. Fender Short Scale Jazz Bass. NEAR MINT I bought this from this very forum a while back - but it's not getting used, as I find the shift between 34" scale, DB and 30" scale a bit tricky Despite there still being an ad somewhere on the net - these are no longer available, they haven't been available for some time, and are not often seen (particularly here in the UK) Made in China, in the same factory as the Classic Vibe and Matt Freeman basses, this bass is a great quality build, and a lovely player, with a great sound from its' P/J pickups It's in absolutely great condition (there's a tiny teeny scratch on it - I forget where, but you can hardly see it). The finish is actually metallic red, but that's hard to photograph - It's got a nice sparkle to it You could hang this bass up in a shop - it looks brand new. I have rarely played it since buying it Collection only please (South Wales) or I could meet somewhere to hand it over (I've got headphones + battery amp for you to test it) You rarely see these basses - so please don't start posting copies of the on-line adverts - they are NOT in stock, and haven't been for several years (the last import quota was never even met, apparently) Comes with a Ritter Junior gigbag, which fits it nicely No trades please - I'm trying to thin the herd I'm only asking what I paid for it, and have seen these advertised for as much as 600 on eBay, or the same money, in not such great condition
  21. Plus a Squier JV Precision, for when I just want a P bass..... and because I just fancy one anyway! Hence the thinning of the herd. All these years, and I've got 1 out of my GAS 3.... ha ha
  22. Yes, most Flats are more taut than the majority of rounds - However, some flats are lower tension. It's largely a case of trying a few out.... Thomastik Infeldt (T.I.) Flats are low tension though - probably the lowest tension flats, and lower tension than most rounds. The low priced Adagio Flats I've mentioned on here, which have also been discussed by several others, are not overly high tension either. Definitely worth a try at about £12 - £13 a set La Bella Low tension flats are pretty good strings too, though they are higher tension than the TI's and slightly higher than the Adagios
  23. I wasn't sure either - but I put a set of the Adagio's on a Jazz, and was really pleased with the sound. At £13 for a set, I'd say definitely give it a try. You may just be amazed
