1. Top tip from Chris B there. Straighten the wrist, increase volume and don't play too hard. My symtpoms developed after playing with a hinged wrist. I have no idea why I was playing like that - maybe I used a different strap and bass was higher up - but I caught a glimpse of my right hand playing position in a mirror and was amazed to see my wrist almost 90 degree hinged. Speaking to a phyio after being diagnosed with tendonitis, the way I was playing stretched the tendon in the forearm and then the repetitive hard picking of the strings put undue tension on the point where the tendon joins the elbow. She also said that once tendonitis is with you then the only way out is to re-programme the muscles in the forearm to aborb the impact of the pmovement of the tendon. That's where I am up to now. Using a thera flexibar 3 times a day with 15 reps to try to build the muscle to stop the impact on the elbow. The only thing is that it still hurts lke mad and isn't really getting anywhere which is why I began the post - to see if anyone knows of a homeopathic remedy to assist.
2. Yep - the best combo I have owned over my 30 years of playing. Will be sad to see it go - and may keep it if I get permission from the authorising committee - but my new Eden world tour 800 head is truly amazing....
3. Really - I though comedy sans looked ok. Maybe I'll change it............. Mind you I'm having enough trouble coz I can't get pics uploaded still. As for the cab it just isn't worth the wrath of the boss is it? Hence I'm selling the Genz Benz and my Metro combo - more as a salvage operation.
4. Genz Benz NX212T 2 x 12", 600 watt 4 0hm Neo lightweight bass cab for sale. No trades I'm afraid as I have too much gear and not enough space (nor do I have permission to get any more gear from Mrs O). Wonderful condition and acquired recently from Freddie75 on BC only in July this year. Superb lightweight, powerful cab running 600w at 4 ohms, adjustable horn, tilt back castors for ease of movement and custom roqsolid cover. If you are running up to 600w requiring a single cab solution then this cab gives really great projected, room filling bass. The only reason for sale is that I accidentally won an Eden WT800 head which is twin channel at 400w a side at 4 ohms so have also accidentally acquired a Carvin bi-ampable cab which is perfect for my new toy. Sadly the Genz Benz would not have suited my new (ridiculously complex) set up but that'so it has to go. It really is in great condition, having been gigged a handful of times by me. I'm sure Freddie75 would vouch for the condition. Will ship anywhere within the Uk with APC overnight meaning you can have it the next day - probably for about £20. They are a superb courier. Very careful so no worries. ALREADY SOLD AND I DIDN'T EVEN GET MY IMAGES UPLOADED!
5. For sale with no trades I'm afraid. If I get any more gear in there'll be trouble from the boss....... £399 or nearest offer. and I can ship anywhere within the Uk. 2002 Eden Metro combo in great condition, recently serviced with 2 new speakers. Wonderful signature sound from an early USA made Metro 2 x 10 combo. Features 2 channels with normal Eq on channel one and semi-parametric Eq on channel 2, tube pre-amp for a little grunt, on board compressor, input gain with +/- 10db pad for passive / active bass input and of course the enhance control. This has to be the handiest knob in bass history. I had been searching for that deeply penetrating bass tone to cut through a live mix for years and as soon as I played through this (purchased from PMT music in Salford 2 years ago) I was hooked. The bass sound from the combo is superb - aided by a really nicely tuned cab. It pushes 275w at 8 ohms, 400w at 4 ohms and 600w at 2 ohms (the later models pushed 750w at 2 ohms.) The combo has a custom fitted cover, new push in castors, new rubber feet and brand new eminence delta 350w drivers. The drivers are 8 ohm each so the cab runsa t 4 ohms not 8 which was standard. However the head runs down to 2 ohms so you can still add a cab (as if that would be needed.........) I'm only selling as I have invested in an Eden WT800 head and bi-amp cab. I was that taken with the Eden signature tone that I ended up accidentally bidding on the head and won it..........oops. That's why there can be no trades as I also now have to sell my Genz Benz Neo NX212 otherwise we'll need to move house to store all the cabs! Will ship with APC overnight which means it will be with you the day after. Trying to upload photos but it keeps failing. will keep trying...........
6. Now I had a look at a ramp and that may stop me playing so hard. Any advice on anybody who makes custom ramps for bass?
7. Top tip thanks. I'll be off out to try some Ruta tomorrow. Thanks for the offer to send some (I say some but I don't even know what it is yet!) but I'll pop to boots or somewhere tomorrow and get some. I've got to go out to get my eden 800 in for a service anyway so I'll kill 2 birds with 1 stone. Thanks
8. Thanks for all the advice there. I've already changed my playing style. I figured that was the first error. I now play with a flattened right wrist to minimise the pull where the tendon attaches to the outer elbow. I'm going to have a good look at those technique tips though as longevity is the name of the game now - I'm 46 and want a good few years of playing yet before I give it up. Thanks for the tips but does anybody have any homeopathic remedies out there?
9. Hello fellow bass players. This is a cry for help, or maybe a small whimper. I've been playing for 30+ years and 6 months ago developed tendonitis on the outside of my right elbow which was as a result of a heavy night's gigging - or rather the heavy night was the straw that broke the camel's back. I play finger style and play heavily so this is how it started. I have had a course of steroid injections which take away the symptoms for round a month and then it comes back. The specialist I saw is particularly fond of surgery so suggested a "muscle snip" as the next option. Now I'm not having any of that unless I become desperate....... Has anyone else managed to get tendonitis in the picking elbow and has anyone discovered a cure short of continual cortisone injections or an operation to reduce the pull of the tendon on the elbow? I was directed to the use of castor oil in a surrane placed on the elbow but that didnt work..........and I'm not stopping playing so that option is out of the window too. Cheers
10. Fantastic cab and at £350 that's a bargain for 600 watts of crisp clear bass.........
11. Hi Would take less for the bridge? They're available from eBay USA for 55 including shipping. Ta Vin
12. I recently got a not working CIJ Jaguar Bass and after a bit of fettling, it's working fine. The stock preamp is a definite area that people seem to upgrade and I want to drop in a Bartolini NTBT 918 2 band preamp. The only thing is, I'm stuck. I'm ok with the bass / treble pots but the remaining wires green (to volume pot normally), yellow (to blend pot), red (positive) and black (negative) don't correlate with the preamp wiring on the Jag - I can't figure out where the green and yellow wires should go as the Jag doesn't have a blend pot. Hope someone out there has replaced the preamp in a Jag and can give me a pointer. Thanks
13. Hi Has the jazz gone? I have a similar parts built jazz with status neck. Thanks Vin
