Location is only really relevant if you are picking something up / dropping something off. If you are shipping something then it really doesn't matter where you are does it? -
Fender japan did one. I almost bought it even if I don't play the guitar much these days: https://www.gak.co.uk/en/fender-fsr-japanese-stratocaster-flip-flop-colour-two-tone-blue-to-green/94968

Oh I have some of that out in the shed for a new build!

Actually lovely necks apart from the fret access. But the headstocks are very ungainly and are the main reason they don't fit into gig bags. Then there is the 3 point 'collection of metal held together by will power' bridge..

You're making a big assumption there -
Probably more to do with the bridge - the actual thunderbird neck seems very long just because the bridge is so far forward. Of course, if it wasn't you would have no high fret access at all, rather than being able to get to the 19th.

Routers are hugely fun, and they will also completely ruin everything if you don't watch them every second you are using them. They lull you into a false sense of security. you are shaving everything off nicely with a template and they same so simple to use and so great. Then you realise you just want to take a mm off the side of a cavity, you dont have a template for it but what is the worst that can happen right, just a little bit. So you shave that mm off, and it works fine. So then you notice another bit, so you do that. Now you are all confident, so there is just that other mm to shave off and voom - you go over by a bit. Oops, so never mind, you can just even it off by shaving the sides off. oops, that was too much. No problem, you can fix that....

So it is ~ £1500, so not crazy.

No he has full lessons on there, including with download sheets, especially the further back you go when it was only on there. Its only the recent ones that are a bit more '10 tips for playing with your thumb' type stuff.

No, promote him, it looks great for a change.

Really does look like a dan smith one - wouldn't mind one of those. Bet they are stupidly expensive.
-
Agreed. I even like the colours of those standards

Hah - should have read this before posting a topic I just did!

Having just bought some wood for something new, or more like, bought some wood because I found it (giant redwood), where do people get their wood from? There are a lot of online places and eBay. We have a local woodmerchant but their stuff is quite expensive. Handy in that you can pick stuff, but probably too expensive for me until I get better! So who is good?
-
Hey look, they did another custom that I would buy if I had that sort of money: I do like the 4 string colours they have put out, if only they would stretch to having a full set of strings. That one, I assume will be even more expensive than the custom as it has darkglass distortion built in and some custom graphics

Good enough for the job really when it comes to mic reverb etc

In that case thomman must be wrong with their dimensions as they clearly list that thing you have shown the picture of, the 4usbFX as 187 x 217 x 70 mm https://www.thomann.de/gb/alesis_multimix_4usb_fx.htm So if thommans figures are to believe, it is not the same height and the behringer is only 30% bigger. In which case I wouldn't get it from thoman as their version of it is huge! And I wouldn't get it from Alesis as I wouldn't trust anyone measuring it in inches but 30% or 70% different size aside, if you are going to need 3 instrument inputs at any time, don't skimp out on a 2 input mixer with a bunch of hacks to get the rest of signal in unless you really have a surfeit of time and patience or a shortage of money or you like taking more time on the setting up part of gigging.
-
Double the size? The Alesis is 70 x 187 x 217 mm The Behringer is 47/37 x 220 x 242 mm So just over half the depth, 0.3cm longer and 2.5cm wider? You are using what my wife calls 'man measurements' By the time you have remembered your correct lead and your DI and everything else, seems a lot easier and probably a lot smaller. I do actually have a 1202 (non fx), which lives in a dusty corner of my music room and all my keyboards and computers connect to it, which leads to the monitors. Been there so long I would probably have to dig it out, but it still works!
-
Would be a lot easier (and probably cheaper) to get the same kind of thing but with a 3rd or 4th microphone socket, such as the behringer 1202, then you dont need odd leads or extra DI boxes, and it is all a lot simpler.

So there was an open box deal at Best Bass Gear, for a Nordstrand PBass 5 pickup. I have never really been keen on the P Bass pickup on my Maruszczyk which is a Haussel, picked because apparently it is what fitted with my 16.5mm spacing. Anyway, the Nordy pickup looked the right size and was $70, compared to £140 here, so I thought I would go for it. It turned up today, as did some La Bella tapewound strings from Thomann - I played some tapewound basses at the bass bash and they were suprisingly good, (although maybe it was just one of Jabbas basses that did that!). So I have just put the pickup on (yes, all good bass work starts at 23:00), and it was a quick job. Also cleaned the neck, and as I had to take the strings off anyway, it got the tapewounds, initially bought for the fretless. But I am impressed so far. The pickup is a great improvement, a lot more articulate, a bit dirtier. Before: After

Short Scale 'Thing' (23" scale Headless 4 string)
Woodinblack replied to Jabba_the_gut's topic in Build Diaries
When I first picked the jazz one up, I looked at the controls and for some reason I was thinking that there were two pickups, so was wondering if there was a blend, then realised there wasn't. Normally I am not a fan of 1 pickup basses, but I quite liked it in those designs as it didn't look that fussy. Placement might be a bit hard with that much space!
