Forgive me for quoting myself here but this is an extract from my review of my AG500 head into 2 DB112 cabs: "Our lead player's fears that such a small rig might not deliver enough low end were soon allayed when I punched in the deep switch and he pooed himself a little bit."
Haha!
It isn't, it's down to current delivery. A powerful SMPS will far outperform a less potent transformer+smoothing caps supply. Big bass notes need high current and sustained high voltage without sag for much longer than most Class D modules are designed for.
What exactly do you mean?

A good looking bass.

Markbass amps I've heard can sometimes be picky about where there plugged in. Sensitive protection circuit. Have you tried another socket?

As the title I need to know if class t has the "Heft!" Bought an Aguilar ag500sc sounds fantastic, not used it in anger just yet but already love it's tone. But in the basschat spirit I thought I should mention heft a few times and throw in class T to the ss, valve, class d debate.

Ive just had an Ashdown abm thought it was dark, not the most defined amp but not too woolly, it needed the treble putting up though. Great pre amp with its valve blend.

I also feel it matters how they died. As if it's death due to taking risks like that then it's kinda there own daft fault. And I'm not saying this in a bad way at all. 57 is too young to go but not if your smashing the life out of yourself. Still a sad loss. But it affects how others will morn you.

I had a slightly worse version of tennis elbow three times! from weight lifting and playing did make it worse unless I played sat down or resting my arm heavily on the bass and adjusting from my normal arm position. Thankfully with total rest it went within three months. But that was with total rest the first time I didn't rest it and I thought it was ok then the small tear opened again. I did find those tennis elbow braces worked to an extent.
What a crappie year. And it's only April! RIP
Has certainly been the worst in my memory/view for talented people leaving us.
If you use a speakon plug then there won't be any soldering - chop the old jack off, strip the leads to the right lengths and they'll screw into the speakon.
Ah yes indeed!
-
Urgh why did they have to make them with no 1/4 speaker output. My dodgy cab is hard wired. Slightly annoying I will have some soldering to do or get an adaptor. If I get one.

I think next week will step up the recording quality a weeny bit more by not using YouTube! Makes my recordings worse than they already are haha. I want to record simply and as fast as possible for the noodles, but it looks like I need to step it up a few more notches. Does soundcloud do weird stuff to the upload???
Here's my entry. https://soundcloud.com/xgsjx/maruchan I started writing this bassline many moons ago & then forgot about it. I was messing about with my bass & started playing it again. I'm gonna put it to the band & see if they fancy working on it. If not, it'll go to a wee project. Ibby bass into Logic, bass amp sim, compressor, reverb & delay on a couple of busses & that's it. Played along to a click at 188 bpm.
Nice groove and nice rounded bass tone I thought.
Made me feel a little melancholy or deep thinking. Then the ending comes from nowhere. I like it.

Fully working Ampeg b2r (usa) in fairly good cosmetic condition. Has one slider missing on the eq but can still be changed. I did notice some hissing at higher gain and volume levels with an active bass turned up was a little better with a passive. Still very useable. Now sold! I bought this for more money from a bc member who bought it from another bc member. Will the 300 version be loud enough for gigs in general? While not getting into a cab debate.
-
As the title says I'm thinking of buying the ob1 300. I'm going to try it first but I would like to know others opinions. I've read a review on here.
That's a luxury that only someone living in a country with plenty of space can indulge in. Here in the UK only if you are very lucky will one of the band members lives in a detached house with understanding neighbours. For everyone else the rented rehearsal room is a necessary evil.
Indeed! You can only just get away with a guitar or two and bass, noodling or song writing etc for the most part. Rehearsal or acoustic drums no chance.
Mute the string in a slightly different place (you may need to experiment a little). Without getting overly technical, harmonics pop up at many points along the entire length of the string, especially near the nut or bridge. It also depends how you're muting it - doing it with one finger increases the chance of a harmonic sounding. Not sure it has much to do with the type of string you're using (although I suspect that is a different debate... ). The open string is a worst-case scenario as well (with fretted notes you have the fretting finger to help control unwanted resonances).
Yes indeed I mute with a few fingers rather than one I also know which points have harmonics. It is still there unless I mute further down the neck bit if I want to fret at the first position I feel o have to race back up. Probably need to practice it more. Never had the issues with other strings.

Noticed when playing flats I often get a harmonic on the open E string when I mute/stop the string quickly with my finger. Say when playing a simple blues rhythm on the E or at the start of another one bites the dust etc etc. And the faster I play the worse the harmonic gets. If I mute with my fretting hand as well as my finger it lessons this but I still find the harmonic is there. Any tips?
