1.
Where?
It'll be the first open mic night with nothing but bass players ('cept me, I have a gig next Friday).
2. In Oxfordshire? I'll be there, I know no shame.
3. Always seems like musical dogging to me, you meet up with complete strangers, perform intimate (musical) acts and go away feeling rather ashamed of yourself.
4.
And this is another beaut- around 2mins 2secs. Tuning issues with bass as well as guitar too.
I think that was the first album I bought. Brought a tear to the eye to hear it again complete with the mistakes of a real live performance.
5. Hard to resist trying this....mine sounds horrible in A major but quite good in A minor.
6.
+1000 Will I make you sick if I tell you I was at the Dublin gig?
Yes!!!!
7. I bought an ABM500 head from Andy today, agree with all above, top bloke and a pleasure to deal with.
8.
Great news - hope the buzz develops into a snowball...
Thanks
9. My band The Wirebirds with Jenny Haan had a track played on a Scottish radio station last night. I was tipped off and listened on line, the DJ said some very nice things about us. He is going to play more next week, and a station in the States has also asked for material to play. Nice little buzz building up around us at the moment.
10. Fender US Precision (main gigging bass) Squier VM Precision (back up gigging bass) Fender 60s classic mex jazz bass (in case I injure my hand again and can't play the Precisions)
11.
PM me next time, I have a guitaist friend in Wantage who needs to get out more he keeps theatening to start playing again. I was amused at the thought of 4 bands all arguing who was to be sent to Faringdon to see you, and drawing lots. -- oh alright I'll go =
Thought they looked miserable! Next gig is next Saturday at another Swan, this time a mile or two east of Faringdon at Radcot Bridge, on the road to Bampton.
12. Yup, quite agree, and do see players from other bands at some gigs, but to have 4 bands there was new. They chose the right place to see us, too, as we always play a blinder there. Both the guitarist and the singer were on top form. Of course, many musos don't go to gigs as they are always playing on the popular nights! Must have been 4 local bands without gigs last night.
13.
"Just in from a good night in Faringdon" !! thats a contradiction in terms Dave
I rather like Faringdon, never had a bad gig there and it's only 20 mins from home
14. Just in from a good night in Faringdon. Went down very well, and afterwards we were told there were members of 4 different bands in the audience checking us out. Glad we only found that out afterwards and not before.
15. I've had people compliment on my playing (occasionally) and I thank them for it, but on the rare occasions someone has commented on the bass itself, I have no idea what to say. I didn't make it, I just bought it, it is a standard Fender product, all I did was buy it.
16.
You went and nodded off there and missed your bass solo Dave
Wouldn't have been the first time!
17. Another pic from a recent festival we played.
18.
We English are basically a bit odd.
Only to the non-English.
19. Mr Skankdelver is, I suspect, on the money. Having spent years teaching intercultural communication at a European university, I should have spotted it myself. Interestingly, though, my spell checker always tried to correct 'intercultural communication' to 'inarticulate communication'. The spell checker was smarter than I had realised!
20.
Patronizing, to me, would be the person asking you about your job and you know instinctively he/she has know interest in your job or hearing about it. Blue
That's not being patronising, that is an attempt to connect with you by using polite conversation.
21. Both gigs went well, we all really enjoyed the second gig. Unwinding with a glass of whisky at home now.
22. Had a good gig this afternoon and a better one this evening at a friendly little pub near Swindon. Second gig in a day is always better than the first more relaxed. Bit tired now though! The audience at the second gig kept asking to hear our opening song again, ended up playing it three times to keep them happy!
23. I only buy stuff to replace that breaks or gets lost.
24.
That would be me, I love performing and it's always fun. However I charge a fee for having that fun. Blue
I could never charge a fee for having fun, but I do expect to be paid if people are going to watch me have fun!
25. I like that idea, wonder if i can find someone with time enough to do this. It would be fun to watch!
