1. Just a bit of fun, probably?
2. Cool video, I liked the sound of the Bergs the best, at least on the video. Thanks for posting it - I hope I can try out some combinations at the October bash. ped

Cheers, yeah the bass is probably made of the same sort of firewood as the floor!

Here we are!! Three plebs and our tortured instruments!
5.
Me with the Big G's (my main gig) outside at The Cage in Reigate a couple of weeks ago. T'was a chilly nite... Can't remember what we were all laughing at...but usually it's because someone's just f*arted!!
Is that an Arpege, sir? V nice! ped
6.
No pics of me playing bass yet as I only got it yesterday. Here's an old one of me in my kickboxing days....... I look the same now, just less teeth and more tattoos
Potential moderator material, I reckon!!

That's exactly how I plan on getting your Arpege, Nick (and not the £40,000 part) ...See you at the bash *evil laugh*
8. I have, at the Bass gallery in London Town. I THINK it was the carbine, not sure about the '6' bit. Unfortunately I was playing an unfamiliar bass through a Schroeder 4x10 I think so couldn't really comment - but get yourself there if you want to give it a go.

Ah you missed a white one on eBay fairly recently. I will keep my eyes peeled for you. There might be one on the Vigier forum for sale but I haven't asked weather it had sold. I also have a fretless, series III, but I am finding I hardly play it any more, despite it being probably my main recording bas for a while. Like you I think the magic lies in the full graphite necks, mainly because I like the dead straight profile. Cheers ped
10. Have a look here - the Oxford Guitar Gallery may do you a trade with a '77 ray they have in stock... http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=57254 ped
11.
The flight case is separate. It is a custom build, heavy duty. Make me an offer.
Can I see some pics preferably with the Vbass in it? Was it made specifically for the Vbass? Can the lid be detached allowing use of the Vbass whilst still in the case? Cheers
12. If the flight case is still going, let me know, because I will have it.

Cheers Darbs!! Welcome any time ;0) Sam the Fender guitar had the stuff built in and hidden from view (actually you can still see the Roland pickup but the guitar one is smaller and they used a white one to blend in). You can also drive the Vbass unit using Piezo elements in the bridge, like on Kiwi's MIDI bass. EDIT: here's the Strat:

Ah OK thanks. The Vbass is a great piece of kit - I use it as my pre-amp and as a monitoring system for IEM. I will be doing a little demo at the Bass Bash in October apparently!! Basically the Roland pickup (thin one at the bridge) knows the height of each string and it's length from the saddle to the nut. It then processes each string individually so you can play polyphonic synths, strings, effects and so on - and do amazingly accurate impressions of 'essential' basses like a Jazz or a Stingray. You can do this by essentially moving virtual pickups around the bass. 90% of the time I am playing clean with the magnetic pickups but when you feel like a bit of Marcus Miller, it's there, on a bass I enjoy playing more than anything else I have had. Sorry, went on a bit there - but it is really hard to sum up such a comprehensive bit of kit otherwise! Since having it installed I have been completely blown away by it and have found that they actually have an impressive list of users such as Richard Bona and Leyland Sklar. Quite an undiscovered gem IMO! Cheers ped

Yeah it should be quite dark but the bass itself should be fairly clear? All that bumf is the Roland Vbass pickup. I might get it installed internally one day but quite like it how it is... it's been like this for some time so why change it now! ped
16. Really like the contrasting top and sides on the Overwater - kind of makes it look like a caramel slice or millionaire's shortbread as some folk call them! Either way, good enough to eat!

A quick snap

Just playing with my new camera... got a quick snap here, it's a bit blurry actually but will get some better ones tomorrow. Just wanted to ask though, on my monitor the picture is very clear and sharp, but having posted a black and white pic on here before some said it was very dark on their monitors. Over at Flickr I have looked at the pics in the black&white section and they all seem about the same levels as mine.. so how does it look to you? Cheers ped
18.
Any advance on this, folks ? Well It's cheating a bit isn't it. I mean it's not as if there was a pub full of people crowding round a set of sennheisers trying to hear the bass solo. I think the op was referring to inaudible monitoring rather than low power monitoring, in which case my entry's probably null and void too.
IT COUNTS!! [sub]It counts :'([/sub]
19. No amp at all (in ear monitors!)

Sold.

Groovy clips Josh. Very cool.
21. Got any pics of the flight case? Might be interested :0)
22. Oh yes Mark at Bass Direct could teach most shops a thing or two about customer service. Darren at The Bass Merchant, too. Let's hear it for the few remaining good guys out there!
23. Here is a fretless version where you can see its original layout: http://img182.imageshack.us/img182/7466/vi...eltamtalgo4.jpg Cheers ped
24.
Does this Vigier have a carbon fibre neck? Is that the original bridge?
Allow me to field this one: The bridge is not original. The original one was a sort of custom affair with cylindrical barrels and what not. The bridge has been put in the place of this system and looks like it fits quite well. The Schaller 3D was fitted to Passion basses of the same era. The neck is pre-carbon; Vigier used a brass laminate under the fingerboard (ebony IIRC) for stability and y all accounts it worked very well, the hardest part was getting the materials to bond, according to Patrice Vigier. Crazy and unique French design - with stunning and innovative results. Top drawer! ped
