1. Must dig out my bass-related t-shirts...
2. Looking forward to this - not long to go!
3.
What does everyone do when they switch between pick and finger style during a set, adjust your output or use a limiter ?
I have an always-on compressor on my board, but even when not using this, I don't find sound levels a problem when switching back and forth. It's a different tone, but not necessarily a louder/quieter signal.
4. Hi guys, Just interested in your opinions or suggestions. Thinking about more ambient sounds, I was looking into the Line 6 Verbzilla (particularly for the 'Octo' setting) or the Earthquaker Organizer. Any thoughts, comparisons or other suggestions? Cheers!
5. I so wanted one of these when I first started out playing. Unfortunately, the one-bed flat wouldnt quite allow it... Still, they're awesome - somebody buy it!
6.
I use a Fuzzrocious Rat Tail, in my opinion, I don't think you could get better/more versatile bass distortions/OD's/fuzzes then theirs!
Definitely this! I've got the Rat Tail, the Grey Stache and the Dark Driving - all very different but all excellent!
7.
But do I really need a better bass?
Always. You always need a better bass. However, there's always a bass that's better than that bass too...
8. Dunlop Tortex Blue 1mm for me. Somewhat torn between the standard and the triangle shapes though...
9. I do dislike modelling technology, but mostly because I know that it's so good nowadays! I don't want my gear to be redundant...
10.
I think 2 bass is reasonable. One for backup incase the other is still in the workshop or not working for a sudden. More then 2 the rest is luxury.
Everyone likes a bit of luxury...

Delay?

I like a little delay low in the mix to add depth to a bassline. Don't use it overly much as it can get muddy.
12. Apart from the Bass wah, the latest range does seem mostly guitar-focussed. From the last set of releases, the Freeze has become one of my essential pedals.
13. Everyone has their preferences!
14. If I had to settle and just have one 'do it all' bass, then I'd probably keep a Jazz. But I do feel that some basses 'sit' better in certain mixes than others.
15. Shouldn't go knocking EHX though there are several pedals that have become permanent parts of my collection!
16.
Same here, new Bass Whammy all the way! Even though you can buy a "cradle" for the Slammi (which sort of defeats the point...) I don't imagine the quirky design will appeal to anyone with a pedalboard! Bass-players aside as well (sorry!), even the Whammy V can be had for only a little more and it's a lot more versatile!
Yep, not a big fan of loose pedals. Plus the fact that the Whammy V is built like a tank - expecting the same from the Bass model.
17. Slammi looks interesting, but with the news that the new Digitech Bass Whammy is coming out soon, I'll stick with the design I'm used to...
18. I think a Precision would sound good with most types/gauges of strings. Different in each case, but still good! Try a few out, see what suits you best.
19. I bought a bass with a Badass ready fitted. Wouldn't say it was the best, but a good study bridge nonetheless. Looks good, sounds good, easy to set up. Would put it down because its a 'standard'.
20.
God bless 'em. Mine had me flicking through the ads here yesterday looking for Stingrays with "nice coloured bodies". This is a positive sign, as I am hankering for a Stingray with a nice coloured body
Good, good. The colour of my Stingray informed the colour scheme of our wedding... :-)
21. I play in two very different circumstances: 1: gigging rock band - I use a small but powerful amp to give on-stage monitoring. I EQ with a good low-mid thump as I have a bright enough tone to cut through anyway, and a bit of a thump on the back of the legs always feels good at a gig! 2: Sunday morning church - DI straight into the system, in-ear monitoring. Going for stage silence at this one as volumes are much lower and gives the PA guys a lot more control. Since going to this set-up I've been able to hear myself so much better!
22.
Even my wife has cottoned on to this...(as Jamerson thuds away in the background)..."Precision today then is it, love?"
Yeah... not sure I've fully convinced mrstheelvy that I need all mine, but I think I'm getting there. She can at least hear the difference between a P-bass strung with flats and a Ricky strung with steel rounds...
23.
Is it me or every bass in my hand sounds the same? I'm kinda up to the point that I don't bother buying new basses because they all sound the same in my hand ......
I do find that, but don't see that as a bad thing... I just sound like me... :-)
24. I enjoy having a number of different styles of bass to hand - gives options when playing with different bands. Yes, there's a little bit of readjustment for each one, but I don't play anything that's uncomfortable!
