My DB has a few Pokemon cards and a Spiderman web inside it, courtesy of my kids when they were very much younger. Generallt these are not a problem but they do rattle when I play the E string and it gets on my wick. Anyone have any bright ideas - short of breaking up the bass (!) how to get these annoying 'childhood treasures' out?

What a star! I am about to take possession of an old Fender P and its missing a tip from the scratchplate - Howard sent me, gratis, a matching tip from an old (1963) celluloid Precision scratchplate that should match superbly well. Thanks Howard!

Well I've dived in feet first and ordered an Aguilar TH500C head from GuitarGuitar which says it will get them in stock within 2 weeks. I've also ordered a Barefaced Compact with vintage silver cloth grill, so these two will comprise my 'rock'/non-DB rig. I hope this puts an end to my rig search! It certainly ticks the boxes for me - lightweight, compact/manoeuvrable, powerful, clean-through-to-warmth, ability to overdrive (so don't need separate pedal) etc ... and it looks pretty cool too, which always helps

Per my other reply, I have never taken nor needed a backup. My gig experience is way less than others (maybe 60-70 gigs) but I rarely ever get paid and - never having had a problem with string or electrical issues - see no point bringing a backup.

You noticed that I'm excited, Steve? Its just because I got BGM in the post today and all those 4 1/2 star reviews really get me going ...

Never used a backup. I'm sure it might come in useful about as often as my team (Arsenal) wins silverware, so yeah not needed one in the last six years. Never broken a string either. So the concept of backup is redundant as far as I am concerned. I can understand it for risk limitation purposes but the risks have been infinitesimally small so far in my experience.

Cool bass, I so wanted one of these back in the early 80s when the bass was being played by Hooky (Joy Division, New Order) and the guitar version by whatever-his-name-was in A Certain Ratio. Oh and in my very very young days a certain Mike Rutherford
