1. Perhaps anyone has a pet chameleon they can lend me for a couple of hours?
2. Thx Bilbo, option 1 sounds the most fruitful I tried the model but she wouldn't get out of bed for less than £5000. Not my bed, before you ask Did someone say "where's ferret?"
3. My DB has a few Pokemon cards and a Spiderman web inside it, courtesy of my kids when they were very much younger. Generallt these are not a problem but they do rattle when I play the E string and it gets on my wick. Anyone have any bright ideas - short of breaking up the bass (!) how to get these annoying 'childhood treasures' out?
One day I'll get a proper image of this
Lovely colour Loz! Better pics please
5. Nice preview of the gig in today's Metro (the London freebie newspaper), just under a quarter of a page (its a tabloid-sized paper). I checked the website but doesn't seem to be on that as well http://www.metro.co.uk/home/
6.
what a truly beautiful instrument
Just gorgeous patina of age there Chris - would love this but sadly I only have a 15 year old, laminate-sided Andreas Zeller worth no more than 1k to trade ... and its got some pesky Pokemon cards and a Spiderman web posted inside it by my kids when they were tiny! Bump for a nice guy with whom I've done a few trades already
7. What a star! I am about to take possession of an old Fender P and its missing a tip from the scratchplate - Howard sent me, gratis, a matching tip from an old (1963) celluloid Precision scratchplate that should match superbly well. Thanks Howard!
8.
So is this the brand new issue that is newer than the one featured on the website?
It has Geddy Lee on the front of the magazine if that answers your question?
9.
Tell you what, if you need £650 fast, I'll give you that for your Kolstein - problem sorted
I'll take your silence as a 'no' In which case, have a bump on me for an unusual and attractive bass!
10. Well I've dived in feet first and ordered an Aguilar TH500C head from GuitarGuitar which says it will get them in stock within 2 weeks. I've also ordered a Barefaced Compact with vintage silver cloth grill, so these two will comprise my 'rock'/non-DB rig. I hope this puts an end to my rig search! It certainly ticks the boxes for me - lightweight, compact/manoeuvrable, powerful, clean-through-to-warmth, ability to overdrive (so don't need separate pedal) etc ... and it looks pretty cool too, which always helps
11. How about this, Dave, and pick it up from the seller (in Herts) if it can't be delivered in time http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fender-Original-Pick...=item35b0c8b91e
12.

That was a (bad) joke. However, how BGM choose a Rick 4001/3 as the number 1 bass is beyond me. I like them but they are very marmite and have obviously not had the imapct on the bass playing world of Precisions (voted #4), Jazzes (#2) or Stingrays (#3)
13. Per my other reply, I have never taken nor needed a backup. My gig experience is way less than others (maybe 60-70 gigs) but I rarely ever get paid and - never having had a problem with string or electrical issues - see no point bringing a backup.
14.
What were the basses that I must try?
Tokai Rockinbetter, Sue Ryder P-bass and Eastwood Magnum were numbers 1, 2 and 3. Fender P came 48th and the Jazz didn't make the top 65.
15. You noticed that I'm excited, Steve? Its just because I got BGM in the post today and all those 4 1/2 star reviews really get me going ...
16. Never used a backup. I'm sure it might come in useful about as often as my team (Arsenal) wins silverware, so yeah not needed one in the last six years. Never broken a string either. So the concept of backup is redundant as far as I am concerned. I can understand it for risk limitation purposes but the risks have been infinitesimally small so far in my experience.
17.
Just installed the 62RI pups that I bought from CD David a while back, in my 58 bitsa. It just sounds so right now and I'm a happy chap tonight. That's all.
Cool, amazing that Leo got it so right, so early in the development of the electric bass! Roughly 50 years of technological advances later and IMHO you still can't beat a good P bass pickup sound
18.
put one of mine up for saturday, but it didn't add it, do they need mod approval or am i just useless?
the Hey Steve, I mentioned in OP that entries are approved in batches by the mods - it will appear, worry not!
19. Cool collection, I bet 'Wonky' (my favourite, love the cream DiMarzio's) sounds awesome through a big rig! The Grabber is pure early Kiss
20. Cool bass, I so wanted one of these back in the early 80s when the bass was being played by Hooky (Joy Division, New Order) and the guitar version by whatever-his-name-was in A Certain Ratio. Oh and in my very very young days a certain Mike Rutherford
21. I've not got my grubby mitts on it yet (arrives from US next week) but I have every finger, toe and other moveable part crossed that this will be the one I will never part with - a year-of-birth (1963) Fender Precision:
22. Just sold Julian a Fender neck - top bloke, fast payment, all good
23.
It's not to be sneezed at!
Tell you what, if you need £650 fast, I'll give you that for your Kolstein - problem sorted
24.
Curious to know what impressed you?
Umm, all the usual stuff about amps what I like! Nice warm (not sterile) tone, nice overdrive ability, and weighs about the same as a hummingbird Everything I would have liked in an Ornage Terror bass but in a much smaller and more versatile package, basically
25. I recently discovered the little Calendar link at the top right hand side of the BassChat home page which very few seem to have noticed (including uber-mod Dood, lol!) This allows you to input upcoming events/gigs so that the rest of us can see where and when you are gigging. It means we can click on, say, Friday 25th March and see whether there are any BC'ers playing in our area and, gasp, maybe even attend. It could also be used to input key events, like Bass Bashes or Bass Shows. Its very easy to input (choose the options on the lower right hand side of the calendar page). Note that Machines has said that entries will need mod approval before appearing so your input will not be visible initially. However, he has said that calendar entries will be regularly moderated in batches so your calendar entry shouldn't take long to appear. Here's the link to make it even easier than clicking on the top right hand side of the home page: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?act=calendar As a suggestion, perhaps this could be pinned at the top of the Gigs section to make it easy for everyone?
