1. Haha! If you check his other items, there is a set of 'plans to build your own penis enlarger'! Somehow seems appropriate when looking at the unique Snakehead bass
2. Just received a very nice Fender off WH, excellently packed and exactly as described. Another happy customer of this BC stalwart
3. Choices include, for a separate head, the Euphonic Audio Doubler or the Acoustic Image Clarus. Both have lots of fans. Acoustic Image also wrap their head into combos (1x10 or 2x10) but they are pretty pricey (£1k+ new). I know people also use Genz Shuttle combos or Phil Jones combos. I am sure more will come along with their experiences. FWIW, I use an Acoustic Image Ten2 combo which has amazing clarity for a DB and sounds good (if very clean) with electric
4. I had an aged CAR 63 Jazz by Nash. It sounded great but was a little heavy for me (more than 10lb). The aging was excellent on the nitro finish, which was quite beautiful, but I do think the parts weren't right. The tort scratchplate looked too new and not like a celluloid plate (it was too dark a brown colour, with little red in it) and for the life of me I don't know why Nash use white plastic dot markers on the fingerboard rather than (imitation) off-white clay dots. It was a nice bass and I think Stacker might still own it. That said, I paid about half the price of a new Nash and sold it on for the same. At around £1,000 I think it wasn't wrongly priced but over £2K is much too steep IMHO.
5. There are several upright players in Edinburgh on BassChat - I would put out a request for help. I bet one will step forward
6. If you can wait until 1st Aug I can lend you my copy. Its very 'traditional' (no tab!)
7. Bit grey (OK, very grey) but I've got a ton of it still. This clinical trial of one obviously proves your theory!
8. Glen Campbell. Not something to shout out loud but what great songs - and not just Wichita Lineman (possibly the most perfect pop song ever IMHO). Other faves include Galveston, Dreams of the Everyday housewife, By the time I get to Phoenix etc
9. Our last gig before everyone in the band departs for summer hols at varying times in August/early Septmber: Sunday 29th July at Hoxton Bar & Kitchen Onstage time (I believe) 9.30pm, 40 minute set Very good line-up put together by the video/concert promotion agency Another Lazy Sunday: http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.hoxtonsquarebar.com%2F%23!%2Fevents%2Fanother-lazy-sunday-presents-rob-johnson-i-am-pilot-all-queens-ravens-phillious-williams&h=6AQFTl65ZAQEsABUHBtFOwmr03Rje4nmEy9URsX85nOJ0XQ
10. [sup]Phil Oakey and Giorgio Moroder's 'Electric Dreams', can't help it, its cheesy but I like it![/sup]
11. Not the biggest crowd but a nice venue and the sound was pretty good onstage (and apparently out front). Really enjoyed. Many thanks to Thunderbird13 (Al) for coming along tonight
12.
It wouldn't have been fair to keep it open for me while I check things (cabinet dimensions) with a definite sale pending. I'll catch the next one. Enjoy that amp!!!
Thanks Steve, you are a gent
13.
Oh really...?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3C6Utr027QY
14. Looks like I was too slow as I am second in line. Sorry Kirky
15. There is indeed a free beer on offer to any BCer that comes to two ATQR gigs!
16. [sup]Tonight, 8.30pm!!!! Anyone in Central/North London at a loss for something to do tonight? [/sup]
17. Anyone fancy trading their Thumb 4 BO for my bass with cash adjustment my way?
18. Good point, well made
19.
Ouch! I'm reaching 'dealer' status... I thought that was reserved for the likes of Clarky et al!
Oi! Bit cheeky given you have just sold me a bass n'all
20. You wait, Fender will now hurriedly release the Bob Babitt signature P bass (with flick on/off bridge mute assembly) that they sat on for a couple of years ....
21. Duck Dunn and now Bob Babbitt - the great bassists of the Motown/Staxx/60s studio era are getting very thin on the ground RIP
22.
I still prefer Flamenco WITH dancers and WITHOUT basses.
Fair enough but I love Vicente Amigo's work - even if its not old school flamenco - and TBH it would have made this thread very unappealing had I entitled it 'Anyone like a bit of nuevo-flamenco-cum-Spanish-world-music?'
