1.
Nice resonator. As I was in a 'reso' kinda mood, I thought I'd show you mine:
that's lovely, what make is it can I ask?
2. There is an items wanted thread for one of these - should sort you and the other guy (Thor I think)
3. I just bought a Mesa Walkabout head from Si. Excellent transaction, good comms and - as post above said - top marks for packaging! Nice one!!!!
4. And another clip, this time of Miroslav Vitous (Jaco's predecessor for those that don't know him in the earliest version of Weather Report). Its arco for three minutes (pretty unlistenable if you ask me), with pizz from that point on. But it does give a representation of the sound: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMRkAoGp3H4
5. If you jump to 6:47 of this video you can see me playing the bass. This extraordinary video was us helping out a Uni student with her final degree piece http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QBLUHlDFK0
6. Many thanks for the links Keith. I can't believe how lucid my OP appears given I had been out for a heavy (birthday) evening
7. I got this a year or so ago from Mr_Bassman (Keith). Its aesthetically wonderful, absolutely fantastic to play in the house (superb, rich acoustic sound) and very transportable compared with a full-sized DB. Selling (see post below, dated 2 September) as I want to buy the removable necked version of this lovely instrument for added flexibility on travelling. This bass was previously owned by Dave Swift, Jool's bass player. It has been played by other BC'ers if you want an unbiased third party opinion (eg, Greg, aka gcordez) Comes with padded gigbag and also a hard glass-fibre (I think) hard case. Fitted with Kolstein Heritage steel strings and a choice of Planet Wing or Bassmax pickup. I traded it for an Eminence with Mr_Bassman as part of a complex deal at an assumed value of £3,000 and I am after the same value given the rarity of this bass this side of the pond. Here is my bass being played by Dave Swift, who owned it before Mr_Bassman Her's the stock page from the Kolstein shop in NYC: http://www.kolstein....egory_Code=bass Here it is in a vid shoot: http://www.facebook....&type=3
8. I have a broadneck (20mm spacing) 5 string Warwick Thumb 5 BO that I am selling (£1000 ono) as I just don't "get" 5 strings. I am well sorted for basses and amps but could do with a portable quality EUB for busy London gigs/rehearsals where schlepping the doghouse along is impractical. My good BC friend Mr_Bassman rates the SLB200 as does the super player Chris Minh Doky, so I wondered if anyone fancies a p/x (with cash adjustment). Failing that a similar quality 4-string EUB (not a NS/Steinberger though as they look a bit pogo stick to me and my band likes the whole DB visual vibe), eg, Eminence, Kania da Gamba or possibly Clifton. Here's the FS thread with more detail/pics etc http://basschat.co.u...-neck-fs-l1000/
9. ... or trade against a Yamaha SLB200 EUB?
10. Haha! If you check his other items, there is a set of 'plans to build your own penis enlarger'! Somehow seems appropriate when looking at the unique Snakehead bass
11. Just received a very nice Fender off WH, excellently packed and exactly as described. Another happy customer of this BC stalwart
12. Choices include, for a separate head, the Euphonic Audio Doubler or the Acoustic Image Clarus. Both have lots of fans. Acoustic Image also wrap their head into combos (1x10 or 2x10) but they are pretty pricey (£1k+ new). I know people also use Genz Shuttle combos or Phil Jones combos. I am sure more will come along with their experiences. FWIW, I use an Acoustic Image Ten2 combo which has amazing clarity for a DB and sounds good (if very clean) with electric
13. I had an aged CAR 63 Jazz by Nash. It sounded great but was a little heavy for me (more than 10lb). The aging was excellent on the nitro finish, which was quite beautiful, but I do think the parts weren't right. The tort scratchplate looked too new and not like a celluloid plate (it was too dark a brown colour, with little red in it) and for the life of me I don't know why Nash use white plastic dot markers on the fingerboard rather than (imitation) off-white clay dots. It was a nice bass and I think Stacker might still own it. That said, I paid about half the price of a new Nash and sold it on for the same. At around £1,000 I think it wasn't wrongly priced but over £2K is much too steep IMHO.
14. There are several upright players in Edinburgh on BassChat - I would put out a request for help. I bet one will step forward
15. If you can wait until 1st Aug I can lend you my copy. Its very 'traditional' (no tab!)
16. Bit grey (OK, very grey) but I've got a ton of it still. This clinical trial of one obviously proves your theory!
17. Glen Campbell. Not something to shout out loud but what great songs - and not just Wichita Lineman (possibly the most perfect pop song ever IMHO). Other faves include Galveston, Dreams of the Everyday housewife, By the time I get to Phoenix etc
18. Our last gig before everyone in the band departs for summer hols at varying times in August/early Septmber: Sunday 29th July at Hoxton Bar & Kitchen Onstage time (I believe) 9.30pm, 40 minute set Very good line-up put together by the video/concert promotion agency Another Lazy Sunday: http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.hoxtonsquarebar.com%2F%23!%2Fevents%2Fanother-lazy-sunday-presents-rob-johnson-i-am-pilot-all-queens-ravens-phillious-williams&h=6AQFTl65ZAQEsABUHBtFOwmr03Rje4nmEy9URsX85nOJ0XQ
19. [sup]Phil Oakey and Giorgio Moroder's 'Electric Dreams', can't help it, its cheesy but I like it![/sup]
20. Not the biggest crowd but a nice venue and the sound was pretty good onstage (and apparently out front). Really enjoyed. Many thanks to Thunderbird13 (Al) for coming along tonight
21.
It wouldn't have been fair to keep it open for me while I check things (cabinet dimensions) with a definite sale pending. I'll catch the next one. Enjoy that amp!!!
Thanks Steve, you are a gent
22.
Oh really...?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3C6Utr027QY
23. Looks like I was too slow as I am second in line. Sorry Kirky
24. There is indeed a free beer on offer to any BCer that comes to two ATQR gigs!
