I am looking to sell a pristine (imported from US manufacturer by me in past year) Acme Low B2 2x10" cab (its the 4 ohm version). Its very hi-fi and excellent for double bass, being very uncoloured (a la Euphonic Audio). Has tons of bottom end (hence name) and goes loud with sufficient juice (500W is ideal). My problem is, superb though it is, it weighs 50 pounds and I need ultralight with my back. Asking £400 collected (will post for £15 in UK) - a 30% discount to what it would cost to import new (c.£575 incl shipping and import duty). You know my feedback so when I say its pristine, it really is pristine! Specs here: http://www.acmebass.com/#/products The blurb from the website says:

A very compact cabinet with the bass extension of a good 18" subwoofer.

Amazing transient response; from the fundamental of the open B-string, right up to the highest harmonics of a C or F-string.

Loud enough for a single cabinet to hold its own against most drummers.

High power handling. 350W RMS is a good starting point due to the relatively low efficiency of the cabinet. 500W RMS is ideal. The more power, the better the sound. (Within reason - It's only a 2x10"!)

Use it with an upright bass for loud jazz gigs and be rewarded with true acoustic tone.

A pair makes a very loud, versatile and compact rig. Stack them end on end for amazing dispersion and clarity or side by side for enormous kick. Use them as a high quality PA. For those occasions where true bass response is paramount, monitor your recordings with them. They really are that 'HiFi'! And the entire rig will still fit on the back seat of your compact hatch

Sale only (no trades) I'm afraid

My endless string experimenting has left me with two spare sets of Mittels I don't need: [s]1. A set of 3/4 size Spiro Mittels in generally good but not excellent condition (typically for these strings, there is some fray/silk damage especially at the peg end from fitting and removal - however the playing area of the strings is in excellent shape and these have years of life in them). Will sell for £50 posted[/s]GONE 2. A set of 3/4 Spiro MIttels that I bought recently off BassChat for which the silks are frayed but strings otherwise good with years of life on ADG (better condition in fact than the set above); the E though has some breaks in the metal windings around the B (which are rough enough to catch on the finger and buzz on the board) and is to be frank only worth keeping as an emergency backup. So effectively this is a three-quarter set with a dodgy E. I think I paid £45 for the lot and I will sell for £40 posted.

Just bought a micro amp from Harry. Delivered super fast, exactly as described and the whole deal was seamless. Many thanks mate!
I do wonder why he bothers. He's paid just short of £140 including delivery and is trying to sell it for £167. Subtract eBay and paypal fees from that and he can't be making much.
especially if you factor in the costs of beeswax, oscilloscopes, microbes ( of relief) and which ever poor schmuck has to photograph him in a selection of fields

Hi Chris, its very clear/hi-fi and uncoloured to my ears. A bit like Euphonic Audio in character. Goes very low and can handle 5 strings (hence Low B name), not that I have a 5 stringer! Gwilym has a pair of B1's (half a B2!) and I think Dood used to own a B2 so you could PM them for an unbiased third party opinion? Here's some US reviews as I couldn't find any decent Youtube clips http://www.talkbass.com/reviews/showproduct.php/product/187/title/low-b2/cat/187 http://www.activebass.com/r78--Acme-Low-B2-Cabinet

Looks superb - like I said in a similar thread by gsgbass (who picked up a beautiful sunburst/rosewood US Jazz) - when they are on their game Fender USA are making some really lovely basses in their current guise

Steve just bought an Acoustic Image amp off me. Whole deal, from first PM to payment via Paypal, was a couple of hours max! How easy is that? All good

I imported this cab from the US manufacturer about 9 months ago. Its utterly superb for loud double bass applications and as a hi-fi cab for electric bass. Its the louder 4 ohm version as these are noted as slightly inefficient cabs, requiring a lot of "juice" (500W from an amp is good) to get maximum volume and performance. I cannot fault this amp for performance. However, I have a dodgy back and at 50 pounds its too heavy for me to hoik in and out of venues. I am going to replace with a lightweight, high quality 1x12" (EA or Epifani) for louder gigs with my DB. So this uber-quality and hard-to-find on these shores cab is up for grabs at a very reasonable £400 collected. It cost me about £550 to import, including duty/HMRC costs and delivery. It is in perfect condition and comes with a flimsy (frankly rubbish) slip cover from the manufacturer, which at least prevents knocks and keeps out the elements. Would prefer meet-up in London area (I live nr Hammersmith in West London) but I have found the box so I can post at cost It looks completely new and here's a link to a pic of an identical cab: http://www.talkbass....39&d=1311697963 Marketing blurb and specs from website http://www.acmebass.com/#/products : • A very compact cabinet with the bass extension of a good 18" subwoofer. • Amazing transient response; from the fundamental of the open B-string, right up to the highest harmonics of a C or F-string. • Loud enough for a single cabinet to hold its own against most drummers. • High power handling. 350W RMS is a good starting point due to the relatively low efficiency of the cabinet. 500W RMS is ideal. Hi Gareth, the only thing I could really do with is a nice lightweight but high quality 1x12" (EA or Epifani) to go louder with my DB than my Crazy8 (1x8") cab. I have an Acme Low B2 (2x10") which sounds superb but at 50 pounds is too much for my glass back and will be up for sale soon. Don't suppose you want rid of one of your Epifani's?

I got this as part of a trade a couple of months back with Happy Jack. Due to new EA amp I am putting this up for sale. Given photo importation problems on BassChat, I will just show an ad here for the amp from DV247 http://www.dv247.com...CFaTMtAodkycACQ where you can see its normally £400 (although its not in stock, nor is it in stock at GAK, the other 'cheapie' site - Thomann has them for about £415 as does Gear4Music) Condition: generally good. A few slight scratches on the top, from having things (pedals? tuners? preamp?) sat on it while owned by Happy Jack, plus he had appended some velcro on the top of it (presumably to attach said pedal/tuner/preamp) which can easily be removed. Nothing at all major and nothing visible front on. Functions perfectly How about [s]£315 £305[/s] £280 ncluding UK postage? Specs here: Gallien Krueger MB500 500 Watt Ultra Light Head This ultra-light, under-4-pound Gallien-Krueger MB500 bass amplifier head is fully equipped with professional features: master and gain, padded input, contour, 4-band active EQ, footswitchable boost, tuning mute, effects loop, isolated DI, Speakon combo outputs, headphone/line out, and 500W of power into 4-ohm loads.
I think you might mean 'Irish yew'...?
in the name of the law (Bad joke, sorry) More seriously, best of luck with your sale but adding a link to pictures of the bass in a hosted website like photobucket or flickr would really help your sale along Edit: I see you've added a link. Good stuff! Beautiful bass

I played a gig at "loud rock band" levels on Saturday (Hootananny, Brixton; normally has reggae and rock bands) and had to rely on the PA bins and stage monitors, although I had my amp on stage behind me (it was inaudible). I couldn't hear my double bass very well and ended up playing harder than I would normally to compensate (very sore fingers, blisters etc). But it was all I could do to avoid feedback (the stage was so boomy the sound guy told me to turn my amp down) and to fit with the rest of the band. Wasn't ideal but it worked

I did a mini tour in Portugal and just used a PlatPro to DI to the house PA each time. Worked very well. Feedback issues meant I was also forced to use a Headway preamp to DI at a gig recently at a venue with good PA (Half Moon, Putney). Again it worked pretty well. The key is if you can trust the house PA and soundman/lady. I bring an amp with me for insurance as much as anything and because it kids me that I am in control of what comes out of the speakers! I think BCer BurritoBass also gigs DB only via DI and is happy with that, but again his band Case Hardin tend to play in good venues with I assume reliable PA systems
