1. Tis indeed Londinium, South-West Londinium to be precise. No worries!
2. Hi all. My lot, All The Queens Ravens, headline at the Half Moon on Thursday 14th March. Should be onstage at about 10pm or shortly thereafter for a 45 minute set (there's a strict policy for the music to stop by 11pm). Would be great to see some of the BC gang there :-)
3. I had the exact same Eko bass and used this pickup, the K&K pure floating bridge which slots neatly under the bridge. http://www.jp-guitars.co.uk/sales/pickups_and_amplification/kandk_acoustic_guitar_pickups_archtop.htm As a word of warning, I found feedback to be an issue at higher volumes. This can be dealt with by getting a cover made for the sound hole or by putting something inside the body that stops the top resonating so much (eg, a blow up beach ball, that's not a joke by the way). Feedback won't be an issue at low volumes, it all depends what you intend to use the bass for. Check out this old thread http://basschat.co.uk/topic/146036-are-acoustic-basses-especially-feedback-prone/page__p__1306035__hl__eko__fromsearch__1#entry1306035
4. Off to evilBay If anyone is interested in this super cab, please contact me asap and I will entertain offers just below my BC-advertised price. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130857908322?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1586.l2649
5. Back in Blighty bump for tomorrow's gig. Headlining at 6pm, how civilised!
6. Final bump (yes I know I said this once before!) Check possible trades in earlier post if cash sale not possible - would possibly add other lightweight superquality 1x12 (Epifani, Bergantino etc) to trade list
7. Thanks Ed. They are indeed fabulous cabs, just not well known this side of the pond.
8. B*gger. Thanks for chasing up Silvia
9. Bought a set of DB strings off Greg. All good
10. OK, no real interest in this super-quality, hi-fi cab so far ... so one last bump before I give up and try at a later date
11.
They rather are, aren't they? Puts me in mind of National Health for some reason. Any more of that sort of thing? (I could only find 'Reversal' which was similarly engrossing). Pete.
FYI, Kev Hopper's pre-Prescott stuff is all downloadable for free here: http://www.spoombung.co.uk/ I recommend Whispering Foils, third from top
12. Unfortunately still at work so can't get there in time Hope gig went well Kev and I hope to make one of your next gigs instead
13. Gareth just bought an amp from me. Courteous, charming and as good to deal with as the time before and the one before ... Cheers mate!
14. Can't help you on the amp I'm afraid but I can recommend this back brace http://www.physioroom.com/product/McDavid_Universal_Back_Support/3200/38202.html
15. To add to the above, both my DBs have developed a small amount of buzz on the board over the winter which I am sure is due to the temperature/humidity change. They both have relatively low tension strings (Spiro Weichs). Its not enough to annoy me and it will (I hope/assume) ease as the weather improves. I wouldn't mind betting this has played at least a small role in what you have encountered, Sarah
16. Bump, pointing out double bass-y type trade options in post above ^^^^^
17.
I have a sr technology b300 combo I'd trade for it.
Thinking on, maybe a double bass-playing BCer would want your combo as they are very DB specific and seemingly quite rare http://www.doctorbas...00172008&idfam= Perhaps if you advertised for sale here we could set up a three-way deal, assuming you found a buyer?
18. Hi there. Many thanks for the offer but I already have an Acoustic Image Ten2 combo so really I am after cash or the items mentioned in my second post. Your combo looks very interesting (I had to google and discovered its a DB specific combo) but I am happy with Acoustic Image and Euphonic Audio based rigs.
19. I'm right, you're wrong. End of
20. Shame. It all seems somewhat disorganised so I won't be holding my breath here
21.
If it puts any money in the till at all, make the sale.
Sure fire route to bankruptcy if there is no profit margin! The Gallery has London rental/rates costs plus the cost of holding many hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of inventory let alone the salaries of the staff. If they only ever price matched high volume web retailers (without these costs and with economies of scale) they would soon be in difficulties I suspect. Clearly they make money on items that cannot be price matched (eg, second hand basses or Martin's Sei basses) but even so. Regarding Luke/Karlfer's comments, maybe they should remove the explicit price matching advertising and only conduct this verbally on items on whic there will still be margin involved? But thats their decision
22. I believe BC is a community and a great information resource on all aspects of bass playing. When I buy and sell I deliberately do not make a profit. In fact I have an embarrassing nine pages of feedback and have not knowingly profited from a single one of those deals. Maybe I am an idealistic mug but I believe in karma and would like to think I am treated well by other BC'ers as a consequence. I do not like seeing flipping on BC but there's 'eff all I can do it about it. DIfferent strokes for different folks. Everyone lives by their own moral compass and we have to accept this, in my view. No point setting rules about this on BC like minimum holding/re-selling periods.
23. There have been other threads along these lines. I felt a bit ignored when I went in a few years back. I have got to know the guys there better subsequently. The tattoo'd guy you are referring to is Alex, the shop manager. He is actually a really nice guy when you get to know him but there are a lot of tyre kickers who come to the shop and I think that sometimes shows in his attitude. Really sorry you had a cr@p experience
