2. Marc bought some DB strings off me. Paid faster than a fast thing and very friendly comms throughout
3. I am guessing it can only be the humidity and ambient temperature as - unless you have guts - the strings will not shift and the scale length stays the same so the only variables have to do with the wood and the air mass within the body
4. Sorry to be a party pooper but this has been advertised for ages on eBay and Gumtree and on this occasion the seller has just accidentally added a digit. Everywhere else it is for sale at £3895 not £38,950. See here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1969-70-CBS-VINTAGE-USA-FENDER-JAZZ-BASS-FIESTA-RED-REFINISH-HARD-CASE-/181402542248?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item2a3c6f20a8 Mind, its not worth that either IMHO given its a refin!
5. Keith sent me a double bass pickup that I was after and refused to take payment. KInd and generous and one of BC's real gents
6. Cheers Marc. They will be winging their way to you very soon
7. These strings are about a year old and have years of life on them but the silks are a little tatty, especially the D, having been on and off my basses a few times while I have been on the usual 'string odyssey' (why are Spiro silks so fragile?). The silks are not of course integral to the integrity and tone of these highly-thought-of strings and you won't notice the fraying when in the peg-box! Anyway these are £126 + post from Thomann so how about less than half price, at £55 posted?
8. Just spotted that long(ish) time TC Electronic endorser Chris Minh Doky has switched to MarkBass amps for his upright and electric rigs. For his acoustic gigs he is now using a Mini CMD121P combo - as do I, but there the similarities end! In case anyone was interested! http://www.markbass.it/artist_detail.php?id=1207
9.
I'm always impressed by how well your singists pull off those harmonies in a live setting - even with laryngitis, Laura sounds better than a lot of singers I've heard live!
Thanks Ralph! Hope New Cross Inn was fun
10. http://www.talkbass.com/threads/krivo-magnetic-pickup-review.882092/ Here is a glowing review of a Krivo pickup on TalkBass, by way of a bump
11. If you buy this bass, i won't make you listen to this album
12. Putting this search on hold for time being. I am going to try matching Evah Weich EAD with the Oliv G and see how I get on. I have tried Kolstein Heritage EAD but doesn't quite work and Spiros are too growly to match IMHO
13. You are too kind John and Nick!
14. Mr_Bassman is after one of these. I could meet you (I am just south of Hammersmith Bridge so only a few miles from you) and send it on as I have packing materials if he wanted to go ahead. I will PM him
15.
Bump for a great looking Jazz! ATB, Paul.
Thanks Paul! In response to enquiries, I live in West London and work nr Liverpool Street station. The good lady is not keen on me having people round to view instruments (after a burglary) so I am happy to meet somewhere in London and have an unplugged inspection. You would have to take my word for it that the bass sounds superb - my 9 pages of feedback should tell you I am trustworthy and you could also ask previous owner Old Horse Murphy.
16. This is ideal for playing at very high volumes and the microphonic design means it picks up fingerboard noise too so it's favored by rockabilly types as well as loud bands Here is quite frankly a very scary video of a man playing one! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0ALgX8WnwY

18. No worries - bit of a hike from Dorset!
19. Tonight. Free entry and there's a BBQ preceding it too!
20. A video from the same gig, again thanks to the lovely Bluejay! Our dark-haired singer Laura had laryngitis so its great she managed to pull this off (which is why its got me speaking at the beginning, telling everyone it will a shorter-than-usual set) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KlTVaiO7bL8&feature=youtu.be
