1.
Still insist on having the word 'funk' in the name, eh..? How about, 'Funky Funk McFunk & The Funk Funkers' ?
Funking good suggestion
2.
I don't think you've mentioned what type of amplifier your guitarist has - is it valve (which might be affected more by under-voltage situations)? If you have a multi-meter you could (CAREFULLY!) check the mains voltage at the problematic venues - try without any equipment plugged in and again with everything plugged in & powered up, and compare.
Both fender valve amps. The newer one is (looking at a pic from google) a hot rod, and the older one is it's previous version.
3. Funk Yo Momma Shut your funkin face uncle funker The Funktions Funkin' drummers Funk you til your ears bleed Funk Orf Funk the lot of ya Funked G string
4. Switch cleaner maybe?
5.
I'd look more to overheating as the cause of the cutouts & maybe point a fan at the back of the amp on your next gig as an experiment. As the guitarist's two amps are identical, they probably both suffer the same design flaw
Doesn't explain why it only happens at gigs though? Always fine at rehearsal and rehearse at virtually the same level as gigging. The only difference is we dont have a dozen can lights strewn around off various 4 way extensions. Might get him to try the fan in the back, sounds like a simple unobtrusive test, and at the last gig the amp was pretty close to a radiator so you could be onto something!
6. Just had an email from Andertons (.co.uk) they have them on offer
7.
What's this 16th note?
Anything played on the 16th fret innit
8.
Sound won't. However, if you have sound to light, more of your lights will come on with your loudest notes. This can play havoc with low voltage and digital effects processors.
That's interesting. Our lead guitarist has been having some weird issues at gigs lately with his amp just dying or cutting out for no apparent reason. Always ok at rehearsals in various venues, but happens frequently at gigs. He has 2 amps which are identical, one which he has just brought brand new while the older one was in for repair (nothing could be found wrong with it on a 9hr load test) which is doing the same as the old one. Last venue we played was a pub with 3 double sockets on the wall.............. later traced back to being some 1.5mm flex joining them all together via a junction box tucked behind a radiator, with a 13a plug on the end going into a single socket! Wonder if this is his problem too?
9. Don't give up. It does take a while to work out all the lingo used in these programs and once you have done a couple of tracks it is relatively easy to do stuff. Hard bit is making sure what sounds good in your ears also works with other peoples ears. Decent(ish) pair of monitors is a must. PC speakers and cans (well, my setup anyway) are awful. Sound good on what your mixing them on, but then play it on something else and sounds rubbish.
10. Reaper seems to be the one everyone goes on about although never used it or seen it. I use Sonar X1 and took me a good few weeks of messing around in the evenings and watching youtube tutorials to get my head round that
11. I would agree with your assumptions on volume and say there is a dodgy pot there, but I know nothing about anything when it comes to knobs on basses other than everything ive used gets louder when turned clockwise
12. 0 feedback and from china.............. wouldn't expect delivery of that
13. Google says no guitarist version. Maybe we could compile one, and the same for drummers and singers too Get some suggestions and i'll whack them together
14. When i looked into it there was an option of upto 25 cd's. Carry less than 25 around with you and who can prove you've sold more?
15. Sweet, im doing something right then! The beauty of working it out on guitar rather than piano is the fretboard (other than size obviously) is the same as your bass so you start learning shapes and patterns. Oh, and i can't play guitar for toffee, although i *know* the chords and how to form them, moving around them is a whole lot different!
16. I have a pair of m-audio av-40's which were just over £120 off amazon. I'm no production expert, but listening to ac/dc when i first plugged them in was like hearing music for the first time
17. I'm along the same lines as the OP. Any fills, riffs etc are done by remembering shapes in my head! I found that learning all the open chords on a guitar and a few bar (barr?? Barre?? whatever.....) chords helped me pick up what works and what doesn't. If you know what notes form a chord, then you should be able to play any of those notes when the guitarist is playing that chord........... i think! Some interesting stuff posted though, so will look at that myself too and see if it tallys with my shapes and patterns i bumble along with!
18. You need 10 minutes every hour or so for a break. Im getting the same which im putting down to a combination of old age (37) and the cold. Got some glucosamine tablets and some glucosamine joint care cream off amazon which helps.

20.
What about when a punter aproaches you mid-song with a request? Annoying or what
Glad i'm not the only one who doesn't like hearing "Play something you know!" mid set
21.
If people cant remember the chord structure of a song, but have the time to look, ask and comment on female members of the audience, then they need to decide what should take priority.
Different band member, but fair point!
22.
However, there should be no need for talk within the band, once a song commences. There are subtle ways to communicate like eye contact and nods of the head etc.
It's not musically related chat, it's more "Look at the t*t's on that" sort of thing. Yes or no answers i can do, just.......... !
23.
As for your rhythm guitarist, get him to write out the song structures, and keep them beside him. It is up to each person to play (literally) their part.
It's mainly on one song. He's been playing it for 3 years, I've been with them a year and im shouting out the chords in the solo to him. 5 different chords, 4 then 4, same as a verse, but every gig he looks at me as if it's the first time we've ever played it!
24. Frustrated by the rest of the majority of the rest of the band at the moment. It's purely for fun and to get me out the house more than anything else, but it's getting to the stage at most gigs where i'm clock watching waiting for last orders! Drummer is touching 70, been playing forever and when he's on form ( I remember 1 gig so far!) he's good. Trouble is, he likes screwing about. Most of the stuff we do are you bog standard rock covers, but he'll cock about with double snare hits or random bad timed tom fills right at the point where you need a nice solid beat to play to. Rhythm guitarist has no rhythm whatsoever. He plays with ear plugs and basically starts the song at the beginning, and plays to the end. Whatever happens in between he knows nothing about because he cant hear the rest of us. Also has a nasty habit of using a horrible dirty sound on his guitar, with virtually no volume. Spend most of the time at gigs standing behind him turning up his amp so we can hear him. Singer needs to learn the damn words. Some songs he's a reader more than a singer. Lead guitarist is alright, but too damn loud at times. Biggest problem with him is he plays by ear, so hasn't got a clue note/chord wise what he is playing. Can make it awkward when learning new stuff! If that's encouraged you enough to come and see us, we have a gig saturday night.......... !
25. Am I in a minority, or can any of you not do anything else whilst playing? What I mean is singing, talking etc? Even on the simplest of simple songs which I don't need to concentrate on, if someone asks me something it's either play the bassline, or stop to talk! The limit for me is shouting out chords to the rhythm guitarist who forgets with great regularity what's coming next!
