11. Oh er missus
12. Well, I have a DeTemple Spirit '56 Strat which I ordered back in 2002 and, without question, it is the finest guitar I own; a better guitar than my original '56 Tele. So, I have been contemplating this since he first announced it a few years back: http://www.detempleg...le_P55_over.php It's gonna be over $7k, which is a lot of money, but if it is anything like the strat he made me it will be oh so worth it. Think I will drop him an e-mail.
13. Welcome aboard from another bass player who dabbles in guitar
14. The Peavey classic series is very much Fender territory but with a little more 'Chime'. More a souped up Princeton rather than the higher gain Deluxe sound that the Fender Blues Junior attempts to emulate
15.
The Peavey Classic 30 looks like a good bet - well priced, sounds decent, good size. Looks pretty cool too! I've been watching a few amp demos on youtube and it hasn't really helped - my favourite tones so far have been produced by the Vox AC30, and those are a few hundred over my budget at least even used.
They are real nice amps for the money
16. I have (and have had) many compressors and the best one I have used for bass is the DBX160A. It is very natural sounding and easy to dial in as well. For pedals I like the EBS in tri-band mode. I also have a Markbass TA501 with a one knob built in valve compressor and this is really nice.
17. Any more reviews? Wouldn't mind knowing whether they last longer than previously before the 'snap' is gone
18.
Seems safest then to wire direct from the output jack/neutrik socket straight to the 2x10 speakers leaving the tweeter/crossover out of it, just like the old cabs used to be.
I had a Markbass combo with the tweeter which I thought was too spitty and did just this - bypass the cross over and connect direct to the speakers. Sounded a lot better - the cables on Markbass gear are not soldered so easy to switch the wires and easily reversable
19. Fur, that's the way to go
