1. A filter pedal to use with the EHX bass synth.
2. Another method is to follow the vocals & play their melody or even harmonize with them (mind & play some extra notes when they're not singing (such as after each line in the verse/chorus). Alternitavely, just play alternating octaves & pop down a disco groove
3. I used to have a zingy tone but my search for my sound has made me put flats on my ibby & neck p/u on full with the bridge p/u on slightly & then thru the moog pedals for extra bass (even in bypass) & a very slight ammount of od. EQ on the MB is set flat with the VLE set to @ 10 o'clock. I could discribe my sound as a fuzzy sine wave with some resonance.
4. I think it's a nice looking bass, but it doesn't push my buttons & for that price I could get a really nice bass made here in the UK.
5. You could make a spacer to hold one cab on top of tother. There appears to be a Dalek approaching from the left!
6. From what I've been told previously on here, 2 2x10s stacked vertically to make one single column 4 high would give you the best sound dispersion, but will your ABM head fit on the top if the 2x10 is sideways? I'd have a try of both 2x10 & 4x10 with your current rig to see what sounds best to you.

Bass pedals

How about the new Moog Taurus III pedals? They are quite dear tho.
8. Started off with keys at about aged 5. My wee bro got a cheap acoustic guitar when I was 12 & i started playing basslines on it to go along with sequences that I programmed & then bought myself a bass when I was almost 14 (Vox Standard, that I am in the process of turning into a fretless) & decided it was the instrument for me. I then decided to learn some guitar & I is fairly competent on it, but I don't enjoy playing more than 2 songs in a row in front of folk.
9. I haven't tried the MB cabs (but want a 4x10 MB cab to add to my combo sometime), but I would get an 8 ohm & as you have an Ashdown rig so far, I would try out their neo 4x10 & you could then run a 6x10 stack if you added your current cab.
10. I had to use a lace out of a pair of converse all stars because my strap I got for my semi never had the bootlace. Makes wearing those connies a bit of a pain now!
11. I had a listen to the different EH Qtrons & didn't like the whishy whisper sound that they seem to give everything. I love my mf101 & although the filter amount only works upwards, can be gotten around by taking a patch cable from the env out & back into cutoff in. Or use an expression pedal (or 4). I also find it adds more bass to the sound & you can even add analogue overdrive to the sound. Downsides to the pedal (if you wanna call em that): If you turn the drive up to give you some OD, it can't be turned off with the bypass (not true bypass) or linked to an exp pedal. It's big. & with a couple of exp pedals it could take up most of your board. None of these are negitaves to me tho as I usually use the mf105b for OD (& other things) & only have those 2 pedals, 1 exp pedal ( but gonna get another soonish), a tap tempo for the 105b (which sits in front of the corner of the board) and a boss chorus (which I have borrowed to try some swishy pad like sounds in conjunction with the moogs).
12. I think the one thing I would change is the top horn so it doesn't look like a butternut squash. It's the only thing that puts me right off Fenders.
13. I'm another for the Dunlop .73 yellow tortex picks, tho I only use pick on a couple of songs. I've tried countless picks & find these the best for me & can easily be seen when you drop one.
14. I regularly put my semi acoustic guitar & a female vocalist into a mixer & then into my MB combo & has no muddiness whatsoever. Freshman make good semis at all sorts of prices btw.
15. The MB LMII has 1 speakon & 1 jack also. All you would need is another Bearfaced & a speakon to speakon.
16. I'd get a DiscumBoBulator just for the name alone, but I'm happy with the moogerfooger LPF & exp pedal.
17. I believe all the combos don't have a dial for the piezo. However, I only ever hear the piezo at gigging volume if I don't use the VLE, but I usually have it set to @ 10 o'clock & never hear the piezo (I don't think I've typed piezo this many times all year, let alone one post!).
18. I work with a girl (I play g***ar, she sings) & she knows very little about music. If she can't sing the key it's in she always gets the direction backwards, eg: if she wants me to go down a key she asks me to go up & knows ziltch about theory in any form whatsoever. But she's got a good voice & is a nice girl so I usually just ask her to sing & then I find her key (which 8 times out of 10 is Eb).
19. Or you could get yourself a B string & tune your bass BEAD. This way if you don't like it, you can go back to what you had & if you do like it & want the G string back then go for the 5er.
20. Don't be fooled by the word punchy. The 2X10 combo has plenty of depth & bassiness to shake things with. Next door to the rehearsal rooms that we practice in there is an arts & crafts room. I've moved things off of the shelves many times without having to go into the A&C room (they hate me apparently).
21. Oh dear. Makes me feel better for the times I've hit wrong notes at gigs!
22. I kinda learned by accident. I tried it a couple of times when I was a kid & couldn't really do it too well (Higher Ground played slowly) so kinda concentrated more on tapping & other finger styles. I was messing about doing a groove finger style & then the thumb got twitchy & that was it. I'm not great at it, but I'm comfy playing slap in a song to an audience. It's the dead notes that get me too often.
23. I'm pretty sure the original song is in D, so you wouldn't need to detune. I used to play along to the entire album on bass when it first came out (I bought the bass tab book, but no idea where that's gone). It's a simple straight forward song to play & I like the bass in the intro part too. My faves to play off that album were My Michelle, Mr Brownstone & of course Paradise City. I've never played any for some 10+ years now!
24. True, but I thought he had a Laney combo (the use of amp (cab) led me this way). If it's not a combo, then don't listen to my old advice. Instead, sell your line 6 & buy an amp (head) to stick in to your 15" cab.
25. That's something I'd like to do with my combo in a few years time (after the carpet has seen too many gigs/cats).
