1. Nice pair - I have an FJB-6 and often fancied an FJB 20. Which model is the Farida FBM 8M, I can't find anything about them? Do you have the original FJB 20 neck to sell separately? What do these basses weigh? Thanks.
 2.
It was an FJB-6 with a factory one-off custom fretless neck.
I nearly bought that, glad I didn't now. Perhaps I just got lucky with my standard fretted FJB-6, which is a cracker. It's not particularly 'special' though, just an excellent Jazz bass with none of the problems I've seen on many others.
 3.
The Farida I owned was OK, although nothing particularly special IMO.
Which model was it?
 4.
The FJB-6 is wicked.
I have one and it is a great Jazz bass at any price.
 5. David Holmes did them. Stream them here: http://grooveshark.c...+12+13/18574978 Interview here:
 6.
Not the first time I have heard that! lol Been told we can use the back-line, not sure still if I'll take my own gear or not.. Norm seems to be Ashdown theses days and not TE anymore, would that be right?
I read in another thread here that NWR never lets anyone use his rig.
 7. I went with Awal because they were recommended by PRS and because they do not charge any fees for bar codes or anything else. Release dates can be scheduled and the product is on all the important sites including Spotify, iTunes etc. I think they take 15% on sales.
 8. Awal is based in Sheffield UK, very easy to use, good response by email to questions and completely free. I didn't look at the small print and I didn't compare with any others. They got my albums in all the right places fast.
 9. https://awal.com/ I used these, it's free and effective.
 10.
Lee Scratch Perry
YES I
 11. Just realised this thread has become seriously derailed - apologies to the OP
 12.
I wouldn't say they are near a match for the USA Standard, but they are for the few Mex Standards I've tried. Although the new USA Standards I tried recently were not as nice at the ones I tried a few years ago.
You've played the Faridas too? Not many people have it seems, I prefer mine to the excellent Squire CV it replaced and it's easily on a par with the US Fender standards I've played, to the point I doubt anyone could tell the difference in a blindfold test.
 13.
These CV and VM Squiers are really amazing value for money. They are very well built and play really nicely.
I absolutely agree and I see no reason to spend on a Fender just for the logo. I have a Farida Jazz bass made in the same factory as the Squier CVs and it is first class at any price, easily as good as a new Fender standard imao. The only downside of these great Chinese basses is that they are new - I prefer the feel of a vintage bass.
 14. Thanks,I have a few passive Jazzes but I like the look of this bass and the active side appeals to me because I've never had one. I just wondered if it will still work if the battery dies at a gig and also how long the battery lasts and whether there's any indication before it dies. I won't order one blind without checking the weight first because I also like them light
 15.
There is no active/passive option other than keep everything at the centre indented position but I guess that isn't what you mean.
I meant, does it work without a battery? Also, I think you may have been lucky with the lightweight - some reviews say they are very heavy.
 16.
I tried one of these. I know it's a bass, but it was just too bassy for me. I found it a bit to be the bass equivalent of eating 80% dark chocolate. Just too much of a good thing.
Mmmm that sounds tasty! Will it be a suitable bass for dub reggae with heavy flats?
 17. Very tasty looking bass What does the active add over a standard Jazz? Can you get a smooth deep dub sound from the neck pick up and does it also work as a passive bass?
 18.
dropping my iPhone and breaking the screen whilst taking pics of it earlier has no doubt added a few hundred quid to the overall cost of the Wal!
Chris, my wife recently dropped her iphone in a car park where a car ran over it and broke the screen. She got a screen off ebay for under £15 complete with fitting tools and it's as good as new now. Had to get a friend to fit it though - I wouldn't have a clue. I can't help with the case - sold my Wal in '82. Your north Wales adventure was short lived - all the best with the move. Steve.
 19. Hi Owen, guess what - I'd like to try the ACME some time Will it fulfil my deep dub desires? Will it be loud enough with my MB LM11? Will it be light enough for my old back? Will VAT and import duty break the bank? I need answers...
 20.
I like strings that feel a bit stretchy or rubbery, and don't like strings that are too stiff, or feel a bit like 'bars' not strings.
TIs it is then - but round or flat wound?
 21.
Gorillaz vs Spacemonkeyz 2002 album Laika Come Home. It's so full of lovely dub grooves, and I love the bass, especially the really subby stuff, which I'm particularly into ATM
Good call - thanks for the link.
 22. Fender flats are a good start, very smooth in feel, sound and value, 45-105s are my favourite. They are also available in different gauges at good prices on Amazon.
 23. I heard good things about these: http://www.fatboyguitars.co.uk/ Depends what you want and what you feel is wrong with the pick ups you already have.
 24. yip all recorded and mixed at home on the cheap - who needs studios these days I like your stuff too, maybe we can do a gig together some time.
 25. I like it, I like the mix, I like the laid back deep roots feel. Just compared it to one of my band's tracks and it makes ours sound thin: https://soundcloud.com/tacsiband/01-father-time-master
