Seems to add a huge amount of gain to the clean signal.
Yeh it's really also a light overdrive -

A little bump These two aren't quite interchangeable but depending on my mood can easily use either of these as my octave fuzz. Andy -

Simplified the board a bit for a busy weekend gig, also got around to finally getting rid of all the crap patch leads and put in some custom ones to make things a bit tidier andy -
Couldnt resist this one when i saw it in the classifieds! holy crap! what a bloody beast of a fuzz! so big and fat and with the compression dial its a very versatile fuzz as well! and the sound when i fed it into my Vulcan XL was stupidly good! ok maybe not the most defind sound ever but the most crazy heavy sound with a proper bite!! straight on the board for my gig this weekend! Here's a link to the video demo showing some of the sounds http://youtu.be/eemLLWwInr4 Andy

Want to use midi cc commands to send new setting to my clusterflux and wondering if I can set it by turning knobs or not Andy
-
Very nice! I was seriously considering a Greystache last year when I was on a quest for my first Fuzz. Ended up with a Hail Satan Deluxe by Abominable Electronics. I can't rate it highly enough! So versatile and plenty of options to still cut through two guitars live.
Really wanna try out one of those!

Newest video goes live at 9am would love to know what you guys think, Some serious sub octave fuzz from these http://youtu.be/hO0OD7XpQAU Andy

have a controller coming in that will be able to send cc commands to my gear now im hoping to send signals to my Strymon timeline and then on to the my clusterflux, cant find a single video on how to set up the moog, ie can i just set the moog save the setting with the midi controller and then go to another preset and change setting on the moog and save, and then the same again etc? on the moog site it gives a number for the cc's etc but no video.
Oh I know! On talkbass I've been informing others about the b7k's abilities and I don't even own one. All I meant is I'm interested in the vulcan/xl, and wish thomann stocked them so I could order a b7k, vmtd, vulcan/xl and vt bass di at the same time and compare them.
if someone was cool enough to lend me a B7k id love to do a comparison, sadly Darkglass cant lend one atm due to demand

Long and multiple notes will be a problem for a lot of octaves, especially analogue ones. might be worth looking into a polyphonic digital pedal something like the new bass whammy or the Pogs from Ehx if you really need those long notes but even they might struggle as the sustain of the note dies.
I couldn't get this to stream on the weekend - but from owning all 3, the COG was the clear winner for me - what do you think Andy?
i do really like the Cog, however i still have a really soft spot for the Rat tail, with my rig it sounds really wicked and sits really well in the mix and i like how with the second gain setting boosts the bass when pushed. need to spend a while for a proper play with the cog Andy

So i like fuzz, not everyone's a fan but for me i love them! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7cCnca6K5bw Andy

i use a ehx pitchfork for doing this, on a gainy sound it works well, can get a bit royal blood. Andy

Just got a delivery from the nice ppl at Gigrig, got a doubler and a couple of timelords for running my Strymon timeline and to give the Moog Clusterflux a bit more jucice! have to say the Cali at 18v is excellent, didnt really think there would be a big dif, but its def gained some headroom and seemingly a bit more punchy nice crispy sound but still the big bottom end using the hpf. well worth trying out!
Interesting, thanks for that. The review on ovnilab really threw me off the compact bass because he described it as sounding 'bright, hard, punchy sound with more highs' and said it was the exact opposite of the Darkglass. Going off the comparison he does at the end of the compact bass review the smoothie sounds more like my cup of tea, but then you recommended it for reasons I'd want
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=VikwVu5qHO0 If you listen through good head phones this demo shows some sounds, rather than trying to go of words Andy -
I' on the hunt for a compressor - I want something for functionality & for a super fat/magic tone. Done a load of reading on ovnilab.com so no need to recommend it. I want something between the 2 extremes - I don't want the likes of the diamond bass comp which is only good for tone, and I don't want something like the MXR which is completely transparent and a good limiter. I want both! I love the FEA DE-CL & Opti-fet, but the whole 12 month waiting list is a bit of a turn off. Doing a lot of reading on ovnilab.com, I think an optical compressor will provide the tone I'm after? The Effectrode sounds great but I want something that will run on 9v. These are the 7 pedals I'm thinking about: - Darkglass Supersymmetry - meant to have a nice tone, but apparently the actually compression effect is subtle which I'm not sure I like - Ovnifx Smoothie - seems like a good compressor. I don't know whether it enhances your tone unless you adjust the tone function, or has a baked in sound ala Diamond BCP-1. - Daring Audio Phat Beam - bit of a wacky pedal and doesn't work as a conventional compressor (read Bongo's review), but apparently capable of a super thick sound while also being a good compressor. - Okko Coca - again not a conventional compressor, it raises the level of your quieter sounds without reducing the level of louder ones. Apparently can produce a fat & dark sound but don't know how well it would work as a peak limiter. - Tortenmann TK-23 - I think this is on the dirty compressor side of things. Apparently sounds thick and old-school which appeals, but the ratio is fixed at 2:1 so it won't act as a peak limiter. - Dedalo Gorila - If I'm honest I don't know all that much about this pedal. I know it's an optical comp that sounds kind of warm, other than that would love more info about this pedal. - Origin Cali76 CB - I've read a lot of conflicting stuff about this one. SOme say it's crips and transparent and nothing like its big brother, others say it adds magic to their tone. SO would love some more opinions on it. Not sure how well it would do at 9v with my stingray bass. So there you have it, apologies for the essay Anybody have any experience with any of the above? Or can you recommend something I've not listed (Somebody literally 5 seconds ago on TB suggested the Demeter comp)? Things to consider is I have a high-output bass (stingray) and want something that will fine on 9v.
I've got the Cali CB, adds a lot of warmth and with the blend you can really compress your sound but still blend back some original and use the hpf to add in a bit more focused lows. Really good comp it's an always on pedal for me It replaced my old cali76-g, with the added features and size difference it was a no brainer to go to the CB Andy -
Most of my gear is guitar effects but there are a few in there bass only things in there. My Cali 76 bass compact and my cog custom but all the rest are guitar based fuzzes delays and chorus stuff
