1. Used this at high volume and woah super impressed!
 2.
Unfortunately, I think that Ghost_Bass's #2 option is the only realistic one. If you have neighbours, get to the practice room early and do it there. No matter how transparent your amp appears and how flat you normally run it, the speakers will add compression at realistic gig volume and most front ends will have a compression characteristic too, once they are cranked. If you are going into a house PA via DI, then it's likely that compression will be added here as well, so even if you run at low stage volume, there will still be non-linear changes in the dynamics out front, which will change how your drives sound and respond. You play bars, so is the audience primarily hearing your amp direct or more from the PA? If only you can hear your amp, then this aspect of the sound is more important, if the audience hears it then you need to tailor it to what they hear and put up with what you can hear. IME, the only way to dial in gain pedals (especially) is to do it 'at volume' and mark the pedals, then do it again with the rest of the band playing, then tweak it on the night. This has made me think a bit. Guitars get mic'd, bass gets DI'd. What does my overdrive sound sound like without my speaker compression I wonder? On the upside, nobody listens to the bass player anyway.
Completely correct, and don't go down the whole di vs mic question
 3.
That 'separateness' you can get with a blend is my major irritation. It doesn't seem to be a problem (or seems to be less of one) with P basses (common in demos), but with a scoopier sound you end up with a clean low end and because the mid is recessed already, the grit sounds like it's only added to the top. It ends up sounding like two distinct streams, one clean and low the other fizzy and high. This is exactly what I'm trying to avoid and exactly what happened with the Pike. I'd envisage very light use of a blend and aiming for holding on to the bottom end naturally. Zach Rizer comments on this on his Youtube demo - the LED setting did seem to be achieving this. One option I'm considering is trying gain stacking. Adding low/mid gain to the full range signal, without wiping out the lows, then boosting the mids and pushing all but the bottom end of this signal again with a big nasty distortion. I've picked up a cheap s/h Bass Soul Food (mostly to use a clean boost that can handle my bass's output) and I'll be interested to hear where this can get me in combination with something nastier. If I lose the Pork Loin from the board, I'll gain a pretty big slot for another pedal.
things to be careful about if you boost mids it can seem like the lows are dropping out but its just that your ears hear the high mids etc easier. hopefully the soulfood works for you man
 4.
I'd like to try this pedal, but mxr support when you're out of warranty is non-existent in my experience and they won't provide schematics (Ryan at fuzzrocious might help out in this case though - seems like a good chap). For that reason alone I'd stay away. A dunwich volt thrower or idiotbox blower box would be my choice for something rat based. If you can get past the form factor I'd try an Ashdown Lomenzo Hyperdrive. One of my favourite drive pedals. Like a lot of pedals, and as you've found, your first attempt is unlikely to be your last! Edit: can't believe I forgot about the COG TK-421 when talking about Rat-based pedals! I had a custom TK-421-X for a while (had an lpf for clean and drive and an hpf on the drive channel which wasn't standard on them) and it was a super, super pedal. Wish I hadn't sold it to be honest! Sold it for less than you could buy an mxr...
the cog stuff is great, the lpf really help you just get what you need from the clean sound. however i still sit in the camp where i want the effect to hold alot of lows and not really need the clean. to the OP the only problem i have is that the blend is more of a parallel thing on the mxr, the signals dnt blend just kinda sound like a dual setup.....which might work for some ppl but for me just sounds a bit weird.
 5. To be fair something rat based sounds ideal to me as your looking for something to push the mids rather than make them more scooped. A rat circuit is mid humped so will naturally push the mids. You sound like blend wise you just want it to be slight not over bearing so having played the mxr bass distortion I think it could work, however maybe getting something without a blend but that just holds the lows could be a way to go? If you like the mxr maybe look at the fuzzrocious cat tail Also if you want drive that reflects and works with you clean sound the ashdown nm2 is amazing!
 6.
My headphones are plugged right into the pedal board. TC Mini Delay I'd last in the chain. Blue
Here's the problem, your getting an incredibly dry sound using your headphones, full frequency into the headphones which will have an eq curve but nothing like the amp and speaker cab so dialling in tones this way is sadly pretty pointless. If you want to do this put a di box last in you chain and go direct to foh however this won't be 100% the same. Spend some time with your amp at gigging volume and dial in the sound you want listen from a distance maybe 10-20ft this will give you a honest idea of the sound then you can go back on stage and trust you sound ok out front, eq corrections from on stage never really work as you don't hear them properly.
 7.
I returned the Duality I bought due to the lack of EQ... Tonal character was just too different from my clean tone. Not interested in this one for the same reason.
have you tried the A/O? for me with the two separate sounds for the drive and the to eq switches there is more eq options even with out the eq of its big bro but for me im still with you i dnt set my A/O anywhere near flat (eq all at noon) so for me this is aimed at some one who probs already has a b7k or sansamp for tone shaping. however i do think a tone knob or some form of eq control would be nice on the smaller darkglass pedals.
 8. been looking for a more in depth delay and i also wanted something that could be a space saver! ive had a timeline but didnt really take advantage and as i have an idea where i want to run two delays at the same time the boss seemed a better idea than getting two tc flashbacks or dd7's. really looking forward to getting into all the features! and midi possibilities
 9.
Why is it when I'm sitting in my living room with my boards output coming into my headphones everything sounds great, but when I play through my amp I can't hear the effect especially overdrive and distortion (MRX M-80)? This is very frustrating. Taking the time to dial in everything at home through headphones and when I get to a gig all I have is crap. Blue
Are you using a headphone straight out of the board? The difference will be the amp, it imparting its own eq and also things will sound different as it's going through the pre amp etc The easy solution is to create your tones with amp or if you have a pre amp pedal go from that into the effects return and bypass the pre amp on the amp then it's just making your pedal board sound louder, di from the board to foh and your good
 10. So got this a while back and recorded the demo about a month ago, but due to my wife giving birth have delayed the release of the demo. this is one of the newer aguilar pedals, im not sure but i dnt think this fuzz is based on anything. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TmpgtekzNDs&t=10s so i said review, for me its super thick, and has a very full sound however the blend isnt working for me as is the tone control as i just feel it goes down to far, its a bass pedal but i think theres to much low end. however i actually like the sound of the fuzz when you push up the tone and have less of the blend, for me some fuzzes are actually hurt by having a clean blend however i totally understand that some one else will really like how this blend works, and the actually flavour of the fuzz i really like! Andy
 11.
Interesting idea, im going to sign up. Itd be good if the site could filter pedals by type rather, than manufacturer?
It can ;-)
 12.
YUM!
yep my thoughts aswell! sadly missed out on one of the hand painted ones but the screen print ones look cool! and function wise really excited
 13.
I'm sorely tempted
I'm tempted to grab a second! But am gonna wait till it shows up. Got my postage tracking through today!!
 14.
To be fair, the Stache isn't Green based, so will sound different, but features wise it's going to be hard for the EHX to beat either that or the COG. It's only really going to be if you want a production (i.e. not boutique) green muff for not much money. Me? I'll stick with my Stache & two Grand Tarkins for now. Si P.s. With regards to the COG, I'm generally referring to the Grand Tarkins, others may mean the standard Tarkin
yeh i should say that mine is a grand tarkin as well! yeh im hoping to be honest the ehx just sounds good might be fun to sneak it under the board!
 15.
There's some very stiff competition for good Green Muffs, but they've got the price-point right (for an EHX pedal anyway). Already having a couple of COG Tarkins in various flavours, not interested in the EHX, but lots of people will be if they've gotten it right Si
Having both a tarkin and a stache I'm really interested how this holds up!
 16. Fuzzrocious have just released the "Luna Reclipse" very much worth a look! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XBiAjFsIKAU
 17.
Doug has 3 more product announcements coming this month so who knows!
nice
 18.
Close to my opinion. But I'd like an AO Ultra but instead of one clean one dirty, it's one A and one O, with it being cascadable of flip flop switching.
This is also my thinking aswell but just don't have it priced as something stupid!
 19. Gonna say something a bit controversial now, I think there's an issue here in regards to the aomi being similar to the b3k a lot of ppl all of a sudden had the same bass drive sound, for me the aomi is great but it's still not on the level of the bigger ao Would have preferred Doug to go down the route of splitting the two drives in to separate pedals for cheaper
 20.
Don't get your hopes up. The AO is much darker than the B7K, take away that EQ and it'll be darker still. I'm sure I've said elsewhere but if you want a brighter VMT, check out the latest VMTD with the attack switch, or the Pike Vulcan (which is available to rent from a certain pedal rental company).
Seconded you can get it having good attack but if you want the sharp high end in the b7k you be better of grabbing on of those. The smaller a/o is cool but I think it shines with the eq
 21.
£75 on some websites.
Grabbed mine for 75! Arrives tomoz but will be a little while before I can give it a blast,
 22.
Have you tested with the compressor as the only pedal in the chain?
This as the compressor will also bring up very quiet noises in a mix as well
