1. planet waves/D'addario's kits work for me.
2.
ace!
have to admit being surprised took it to a recording session because i wanted to try it out as i had a few days and not been able to play it, but it really had to make myself turn it off! this plus my Alpha Omega was a big sound!
3. So this one looks familiar right? This is a metal zone modded to become a great fuzz with two separate gain controls you can go between! Also even from Australia it didn't cost that much more than the actual metal zone! https://youtu.be/aYJreNcGCVY
4.
Not sure what this button do in terms of what it sends to the house. I mean it sends my effects right? Blue
Yep it just sends the di to foh before the eq section or after it, means foh can change or tweak the sound more than working of your eq. I'm always post eq tho as I've set up the eq to work with effects aswell so I prefer that.
5. Fighting hard against grabbing a fig fumb!
6.
Nice demo It is an amazing pedal, for sure. I haven't used the B3K channel on my amp alone since this pedal arrived...
thanks man
7.
Two pedals with very similar names but very different prices - I can get a new Chowny for half the price of the Aguilar used. I like the sound of them both in demos but a YouTube demo can cover a multitude of sins. Slightly different controls on both - the Aguilar has a single "blend" knob vs the Chownys separate level controls for the fuzz and dry signals. Anyone out there have experience of both pedals?
Got the Chowny and it's a very cool little fuzz for the money, very thick very full, Will cover a lot of tones and basses the blend is very good nothing like the mxr blends (where dry and wet are Sep) does many things well. Sadly not played the Aguilar
8. And here's a little Arpanoid one, https://youtu.be/FzTt8cd26zk
9.
Oh Digitech look after Strymon too? That's very handy!
dnt think they do think maybe a crossed wire somewhere
10. Transmisser demo now live on my channel https://youtu.be/qPcqg05ir_A
11.
No matter how I tweak them, when I'm gigging and engage OD the signal drops and I get a lot of harsh high end. And as I said it doesn't happen with any of my other pedals. I'll use my MXR M-85 Bass Distortion for OD. I can get plenty of sustain from my TC Electronics Chorus (Corona). Blue
i always find its super easy to perceive the od/drive sound too loud and turn them down hence live you drop in volume, massive pain but i love all my pedals to much not to deal with the pain however i for the most part just trust ive set them right lol
12.
This one has been on my radar but I wanted to find out if the outputs could handle the Digitech. I ought to drop them a line!
from looks of the site you should be fine they say 2watts power consumption which is weird but considering uk power 230v the ma draw would be pretty small so cant see the strymon not handling it
13. feel like i say this alot, but the stymon ojai has to be worth a shout, 5x 500ma double isolated outputs. i also use a gigrig isolator to turn one of the outs into 4x100/120ma outputs with another level of isolation, works really well and the Ojai is tiny
14. sorry guys totally thought id updated this! sold
15.
Is this the one that Rabea Massaad used on his recent Tool "Sounds Like" video? Cos it sounded sheeite on that, so I'll be looking forward to the AndyBassist video with great interest!
yep the same one, for me this is all about drive, its very cool in the mix hopefully i can get it sounding right in the demo. will also thanks to some ideas ive seen put it after an octave up aswell. andy
16. Used this at practice tonight! Man this sounds great just thickens everything and having control over how tight the tracks are really does give tonal options, and have to say being able to add 3 dubs on top of your dry sounds huge when using drive Demo coming soon!
17. Video of my drives in the board Sadly filmed pre pitchbay https://youtu.be/pE3zLieIDCU
18. little video showing the pitchbay with the darkglass alpha omega https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6nk19_-CmA
19. have to admit super interested in this maybe as a little board that can be setup to give me a alot of the sounds of my big board bar the fuzz and more unique pedals i have. also could add it to main set up and control it using the es8 Andy
20.
Personally, I never make a decision on a pedal without hearing it at full volume at band practice. As you say - some pedals sound great at home but disappear in the mix when used in the real world (out of the bedroom!). Equally, my rat-based distortion sounds killer at full volume, pushing the tubes on my rig, but underwhelming through my little solid state practice amp at home. Most importantly, from my experience at least, I think you need to build your pedalboard around a consistent setup (i.e. same type of bass, same amp and cab), as just changing the bass, or the amp, or the cab, is enough to dramatically change how a pedal sounds, and your opinion on it. Never ceases to amaze me how using somebody else's cab at a gig (but my bass, head, etc) can make such a change to how my pedals (dirt, especially) sound. I HATE all of my dirt pedals through cabs with 8 or 10 inch speakers, and don't really care for 15's. Has to be 4x12!
both points! always like to make a point of trying pedals at full volume! modulation and delay are ok but drives for sure are a volume thing! and this is why a standard rig is good for me its all about 10's i can get my board working thru a 410 however i love an 810! i however havent used a 412 cab so i do really wanna do that! also my rig is ashdown aswell so some would say its darker than normal so with a diff setup im guessing my sound would be really bright!
21.
True, and I can't expect everyone to agree with me just because I think an effect or combination of effects sounds good. Blue
I'm lucky my bands trust me with sounds but yeh someone might be like maybe try this instead or do you have something that sounds like this
22.
I also like to run my pedal decisions by the other band members. Blue
This is useful as if say both me and the guitar want to use chorus it could be a bit much so I'll back of
23. So having a big board I'm always changing setting to get things sounding at there best mainly delays, verbs or modulation drive stuff is normally pretty simple to sort. For me if I'm gonna use a second guitar with a lower output say I'll have a way of boosting that sorted out so everything matches at least with volume it will sound different it's a different bass. Using the pedals tho I'll have worked out what I wanna use ( I have a switcher boss es8) in presets but I'm all for on the fly adding an effect if I'm feeling it might be cool! But I never use a pedal just to say I used it.
24. Little video I did to show the a few sounds https://youtu.be/lInofM0hrxc
25. Properly love the Earthquaker devices pitchbay right now https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ayyeCIh3dSI
