1. Wouldn't like to gig with it for too long! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Early-1980s-Shergold-Custom-doubleneck-bass-4-8-string-necks-/222221466353?hash=item33bd6e7af1:g:bHMAAOSwLnBXXRnf
2. Oh come on Karl. The only 57 I have now have is my JV. Even if I would part with it the rest of your band won't fall for it! Lovely ting that is GLWTS.
3. A friend of mine has one of these, Hofner S7B. It's absolutely mint. Very rarely been out of it's case. He had the foresight to buy the case at the time. Hardly any other case will fit it! Lovely bass...
4.
Do you think he'd take £13.48 cash and a half eaten packet of starburst???
Starburst? What flavours you got left?
5.
Where are you located? Can you ship the bass?
I'm in Blackburn, Lancashire England. I could ship the bass but it has no hard case and so I cannot insure it. Any postage would be at the buyers risk and expense. However, it would be very well packed. Thanks...
6.
Hi, yes you can play 2 instruments at the same time through this head - I did this the other night According to the spec, it does indeed put out 500W at 2 ohms What I didn't know, was it puts out 400W at 4 ohms (not the 450W I had believed to be the case) Mind you, it seems very loud when operating with 2x8 ohm cabs http://pjbworld.com/..._m300_spec.html
Thanks for that. Now I need to think! Cheers
7. Class 8 track recorders. Always regretted selling the pair I had. A real tangible piece of kit. Makes the user feel much more part of the recording process in comparison to Logic, Cubase etc. GLWTS.
8. Really nice bass but my Fender VI isn't shifting so something has to go. Built in 1997 I believe and in very good condition for the year. All original, USA pups. Approx 40mm at the nut. Plays and sounds very well indeed. It's wearing Smith's roundwounds but I can throw in a set used but perfectly usable low tension TI flats. These retail at around £60 alone. No case I'm afraid. Any questions please ask. Would rather you arranged your own courier but will be packed very well. I could arrange shipment of the bass but as it has no hard, I cannot insure it. Any postage would be at the buyers risk and expense. May be able to meet up etc or you could collect and try it out first from BB22SH. Open to trades. 22/24 fret thru neck 4 string Precision or Jazz 4 string Small combo PJB M300 head PJB Suitcase Neo 10- 12 15" cab Try me, you never know.
9.
That has to be tongue-in-cheek, surely? I read it with a grin on my face, never occurred to me it might be serious. And don't call me Shirley. Edit: See also https://www.talkbass...r-real.1237982/
That's how I read it. Absolutely brilliant. Made me laugh out loud. That's what my mates would do to me and they'd expect no less in return!
10. Blummin heck Karl. I think the time, effort and fuel costs you put into getting the cab should reflect in your final sale price. That's what it cost you and it's nothing to do with anyone apart from you! You are even willing to put all that effort and cost back in! Sounds far more than fair to me. Have never understood anyone who complains publicly about price on here? Anyway, I quite fancied it myself but then I remembered I'm an oldie too!
11. Hi, can the dual inputs be used at the same time? 2 basses playing at the same time for example? I think that these heads may actually go down to 2ohm and put out 500w? Might be worth a check.
12. ? Why is there cleavage on the back of the headstock?
13. "A 1959 Jazz Bass prototype boasted large single-coil soapbar pickups similar to those on the Jazzmaster; a five-polepiece neck pickup and a four-polepiece bridge pickup. These became narrower eight-polepiece (two per string) pickups by the time production started". Taken from this article - http://www2.fender.c...d-appreciation/ All you need to do is butcher the one you have and pretend it's the prototype! No Jazz bass in the 50's...Tisk
14. Thanks for the advice everyone. Quite a bit to mull over there! I'm swaying towards blend and EQ at the moment. It sounds simple enough and I won't need to acquire more gear that the Mrs can see! Any other suggestions would also be greatly appreciated.
15. HK Elias 1.6k. Loud as a loud thing but doesn't distort or lose clarity. Small footprint and great for a five piece playing noisily. Very impressed. Bought it 2nd hand as we always hired in and lost all the money to the PA guy! 3 or 4 gigs and it's paid for.
16. Thinking of going back to Bi-amping after a long long time! Since I last did it, gear has moved on considerably. Hence, looking for advice. I used to use a stereo chorus that split the signal and then each feed went into a separate 15" combo. Unusual setup but one feed was for a traditional bass sound and the other was used solely for effected sound. Being able to boost the treble on the effects was essential as I used a lot of delay. It worked really well. The speakers both being 15", dispersed the sound perfectly. Many years later I don't fancy lugging around 2 stacks or combos anymore. The back isn't what it was and space is an issue. I already have an Orange TB500 head and a Barefaced compact, which could sort one feed out. I've also got another head so, I could just get another cab and that would be that. However, I've been wondering if there's a head that has a single input that splits into 2 separate signal outs, with individual effect loops? Also, a lightweight single cab that can handle 2 separate inputs? Or, perhaps you might have another solution? It's always complicated with me but any advice would be greatly appreciated! Link to Soundcloud. If you listen to the song Maelstrom, it's a good example of the sound. https://soundcloud.c...ncan-mitchell-7 Cheers Dunc
17. I don't know what happened to it but God should 'smite' the the culprit!
18.
Wow! Is that one of the new Exquisite Burning Fire Style Electric Bass Guitar Blue instruments I've heard so much about?
Burning Hell Fire!!!
19. I can't believe it. Somebody needs to explain to me why somebody has even contemplated this "mod"?!!!! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bmw-323-touring-rat-look-one-off-modified-/222198705723?hash=item33bc132e3b:g:KfMAAOSw-YVXlm2i
20. I'm rather disappointed that he hasn't "lovingly" lemon oiled the fretboard though...
21. Great PA speakers. Any buyer would be more than pleased. Only moved mine on as I couldn't move them about on my own anymore. I sold them to a guy in Belgium. He sent a pallet service booked through parcel2go. They went on it along with 8 big boxes of acoustic foam, a multicore and a mixing desk. All the way safely to Belgium from Blackburn in the NW for £250. I'm sure the price would be far less to a UK address. GLWTS.
22.
I would love a fender precision from the 80s, that's when i started playing. What's the story with JVs? I remember reading about how the Japanese Fenders were outplaying the US ones back in the 80s (anyone else read Guitarist Magazine in the mid 80s?) and wonder if the JV might be what I'm after thanks Andy
I use an 83 JV 57 Precision. Olympic white with a maple neck. Hands down the best Precision I've ever owned and I've had quite a few. I sold my 79/81 USA as it didn't come close to the JV. No mods apart from it's wearing a black plate instead of the original white. I've only ever played a few so can't really tell you if they are 'hit or miss'. The one's I have played have all been good though.
23.
I'm never really sure what folk quite mean by drive/overdrive/break up Dunc. Mainly because I always like 2 main tones, John Paul Jones circa Zepp 11, and Steve Harris, well, most albums really. Following link might answer your question? https://www.youtube....h?v=d-27szg61bw Cheers, Karl.
Cheers Karl
24. How much drive can you get from these Karl? Anything you could compare it with?
