  1. Well, i just went and posted some stuff on GC. A query about the new BF guitar cab, a comment on a topic about flatwound strings, a rant about a Pat Metheny album and a reply to a query about wireless systems. I'll go back in a few days and see if anyone has read any of them.
  2. Those MR2s were amazing. We went on holiday to the South of France in a Mk1 MR2. 2 weeks camping. When we came to leave, we piled all the stuff, ready to pack and the pile was taller than the car. My then girlfriend was just very slightly obsessive about neatness and spent the next three hours getting it all in. Took her a few goes but it all went in. She attracted quite a crowd and a round of applause (although that could have been the shorts). And i used to have a Volvo V70 which was a much more sensible choice - but this is my midlife crisis and so I'm having a Fiat 124! Could be worse - could be a motorbike 😁
  3. I've not spent a lot of time on GC because there's more going on here.... Which makes it a self perpetuating thing, I guess, particularly while the majority of members are BCers. I'll try and get over there more often, if only because I can talk about jazz over there....
  4. This is Basschat. It's the main thing. 😁
  5. Hahaha! Don't you hate it when that happens?! Thanks anyway, Jack. Not heard much about GSS cabinets but they look interesting. Or would if, y'know.......
  6. I once bough a k-line guitar 'closet classic'. Not reliced, just 'dulled'. It plays beautifully and sounds awesome but i hate the feel of the dulled, rusted hardware. Someone deliberately ruined a perfectly good guitar. In fact, now i think about it, i might strip it down and give it a respray and a new bridge and tuners. I can't make it any worse than it already is....
  7. I've just pulled the trigger on a One10. I thought long and hard about the PJB extension cab but I've already had one and, light as it is, it's still twice the weight of the One10. Thanks for all the input, guys. Really useful 😁
  8. It can only be a good thing in my view. A genuine patina of use is one thing. Taking a sander to a perfectly good bass almost smacks of sharp practice....
  9. Give me a licorice torpedo and you can have me virtue too
  10. OK. I'll come clean. I need to declare a commercial interest. Basically, I'm anybody's for a couple of jelly babies and a sherbet dib-dab.
  11. I just met up with Paul to sell him my Dingwall ABZ 5/3. He drove a fair old distance to meet me and was kind enough to split the PayPal fees with me. We communicated quite a bit exploring trade options before agreeing the deal and Paul replied to every message promptly. Clearly, this is the same experience that everyone else has had when dealing with Paul and I can only echo what everyone else has said - Paul is a true gentleman, the perfect BCer and i would trust him absolutely in any future dealings. Thanks for such an easy sale, Paul, I hope you get years of pleasure from the Dingwall 😁 Dave
  12. That Symphonic tour was awesome. I saw them in Brighton and you're right, he was immense. Two solo albums? I have FOOW and the one he did with Steve Hackett but i wasn't aware of a second solo album....
  13. What a very good idea. I was lucky enough to see Yes quite a few times and CS, in his prime, was as superb as everyone has said. I saw them on the tour after he'd died - before the show started, as a tribute, they played 'Onward' over the PA while lighting a white Rickenbacker with a single spot. It was incredibly moving. Billy Sherwood did a good job in the circumstances but they were very, very big boots to fill.
  14. I couldn't find any feedback for Ash M who's a new member on here (as opposed to the volumes of feedback for plain ol' Ash) so I thought I'd start one having just sold him a Fender Bassman 100T and Neo 410 cab. This was a super-easy transaction for me - less so for Ash M who drove all the way up from Stansted to collect the amp. Throughout, comms were good and payment (both deposit and balance) were prompt and in full. Add to that he's a thoroughly nice chap and I'd have no hesitation in dealing with him again and recommend him to the rest of the BC community. Thanks again, Ash - hope you had a good drive home to Kent 🙂 Enjoy the rig Dave
  15. I’m too busy counting to get those stabs in the right place..... 😀
  16. Sunshine of Your Love by Cream.
  17. I sold a PJ Briefcase and the extension cab a few years ago and i agree, they were wonderful cabs. Must admit, I hadn't considered just the ext cab on its own.....
  18. Turn it on again by Genesis. Timing is all over the place but, like Money, you don't notice till you try and tap your feet. We used to play it - or try to - and it defeated the drummer every time
  19. +1 to this. Not tried them myself but I've heard someone playing them and it did sound very string bass-like. All the flats I've tried (la Bella, TI and chrome's) reduce finger noise and are pretty deep and full. Some are maybe a bit brighter than others but there's a 'family' sound to them all - which, to me, sounds like deeper, richer flats. Tape wounds sounded even more so - more like an upright. But that could have also been the player, the guitar, the amp and eq and the general vibe (light jazz). How much part the strings actually played i don't know - but it was clearly a sound the guy was aiming for and he'd chosen nylon tapewounds to help him get it
  20. Super glue seems a bit high risk to me 😁 I think your original post said it. You've been favouring the wounded digit and that's caused excess/unusual pressure/posture on the rest. Plus, as mentioned, you've been playing flats for a bit.
