  1. I haven’t really had a career, certainly not in the sense that it’s been planned anyway. I left school in ‘76 and spent too long prevaricating to get Into Uni and I’ve been doing “fill in” jobs ever since. One day I might actually get an application in on time and go do a course. In the meantime, I’ve delivered washing machines and televisions, been a shop manager for currys and then Rumbelows (remember them), joined their training department as a trainer, swapped to the IT department as a trainee programmer, left and went to Comet (remember them?), then joined a series of IT software firms ending up as CTO for one of the Fujitsu divisions which we carved out as an independent. Once that was sold, I was a director for the firm that bought us for a bit before going into semi-retirement and becoming a store assistant at Aldi for a year or two. I then got offered a contract job at RBS doing some mainframe architecture stuff before I ended up as head of real-time payments architecture at the company that runs the BACS, LINK and Faster Payments Systems (relax, I never worked on any of the UK systems 😁. Well, just the one but it was cheques so it doesn’t count). Then the company got bought, I got bored with the commute and I retired. And now I spend my days volunteering with Young Enterprise and tormenting Young @Teebs on here. Which is a nasty job but someone has to do it..... (The @Teebs thing, obvs. Young Enterprise is good fun)
  2. You cheeky young beggar. I’m 99 and a bit.... welcome jotto. Ignore Teebs, he’s a twerp.
  3. I take it he’s not related to our own @Pseudonym?
  4. Phil just bought my Yamaha BB735a. Has to be the easiest transaction ever. Like everyone else, I say “Top man, highly recommended!” 😁
  5. I have a fender fuse guitar amp which has an SD card slot (as well as aux in). It allows you to alter the pitch and speed of a track. That works for me although it doesn’t do rewind/FF or loop sections (not easily). I used to use a version of Guitar rig as that let you jump around the track, loop sections, slow down while keeping pitch, transpose, etc. That’s brilliant for learning stuff initially but you needed a compooter for it. I suspect you could achieve a similar effect now with an iPad, GarageBand and a 3.5mm cable to the aux in of your amp
  6. I just bought a Zoom Q2n camera off Steve. It turned up this morning, nicely packaged and just as described in his ad. A super-easy transaction and a lovely guy to deal with 😁 Thanks Steve!
  7. Which is odd because it looks very much like you could get a Vauxhall Corsa to fit in a Marshall 810
  8. Awww, thanks Cam 😁 The cheque’s in the post! How’s the Super P?
  9. Now sold pending the usual. I took this in trade towards the end of last year and it’s a fantastic instrument, every bit as good as the reviews say. But after years of trying I’ve finally come to accept that 5 strings are not for me and it’s way to nice a bass to sit unused in my back bedroom. Condition is fantastic - it still has the plastic guard in place that sits between the controls and tells you what they do. Comes with a really nice Yamaha gig bag and user manual. I don’t have the materials to safely ship this so I’d prefer collection or a meet somewhere - I’m up on the Lincs coast but can easily meet anywhere along the A1 corridor from Wetherby all the way down to Stevenage or Welwyn. PM me to see what we can arrange.
  10. The big worry is that she might find it more attractive than you, you grey old utility cabinet, you. Jus’ satin’
  11. Well at least it’s big enough to sleep in if need be 😁
  12. If you have concrete floors you’ll be fine. I wouldn’t keep it upstairs though 😁 Is there a venue or rehearsal room near you who might take it for £50? Or even for a few hours free rehearsal use?
  13. Could you get a Comfort Strapp and glue the new one to it? or just get a long strip of neoprene?
  14. You're looking to dry things off not cook them so take it steady 😁 You could also try filling a paper bag with a dessicant (rice would be my choice), put it in the back of the amp and put it in the airing cupboard overnight. I'd be careful not to spill the rice though as it gets everywhere.....
  15. I’ve just taken a proper look at this - wow, what a great resource! Thanks, @Bilbo, this will help me develop my reading skills enormously!
  16. Edit: Seems like there’s no interest in this fantastic amp so I’m going to keep hold of it for a while longer I bought this new from Bass Direct last summer but since then we've moved away from a traditional backline and i now DI into the PA system. As a result, I'm downsizing my rig. The Bergantino 12's have gone and I'm not giving this brilliant amp the use it deserves and so it should go too. Condition is mint. I've used it at home a few times and it's been to a couple of rehearsals and one gig. I have the box and all the instructions, mains lead, etc so it will be repackaged as it came to me. I'm not really looking for trades but I'm open to ideas so let me know what you've got and I'll consider it. I come down to London on a fairly regular basis so I can meet up anywhere along the A1 from Leeds down.... Or you're welcome to drop in to Skinny Towers besides the seaside and try it out for yourself. The kettles always on. I would prefer collection or one of those shady-looking meets in a pub car park somewhere but I can courier if required (UK mainland only) for an extra £15. The Magellan has a great reputation but for those who aren't familiar with it, here's the specs and pictures (note: Barefaced One10 not included!) 17. Darren just bought my Bergantino CN112 cabs. We had a discussion about possible trades which came (amicably) to nothing. Darren subsequently made me an offer which i accepted and we met up the following day to complete the deal. This involved him making a five hour round trip to meet me! Great Comms throughout, a lovely guy to deal with. Deal with confidence, folks!
  18. How did you get out? I thought i had the only key....
