1. Looks like a lovely bass. Hopefully someone will chime in with any Luthiers in your area. Alternatively, you could get a bridge yourself and have a go at making a new one. Lots of info on tinterweb.
 2.
It is indeed a great resource. However I think the OP wanted some guidance on what people generally reckon to be good pickups, and the list has probably added to the confusion more than it's helped Andy
maybe so. Sorry. Getting the right pickup/mic for DB has always been a "suck it and see" affair, at least in my case. I currently use an Upton Revolution 2. It can get a really nice sound but is temperamental in that if you knock it at all, the tone will change. You have to sand down the pup and the wing slot to fit it which is a bit fiddly. I've never had any working issues with it though in the 2+ years using it. It's comparable to the Realist but maybe not as dark sounding. I've also tried shoving a SM57 in the bridge feet with some success but it feeds back at a relatively low stage volume. The Vektor pickup is very interesting in that it's an adjustable contact mike. That may be my next trial when I can save a few bob.
 3. Like others have stated it'd be nice to know what they had problems with e.g. your playing or you, so you can work on it. Don't get too bent out of shape. This is the business, ups and downs. They could want to move to another format. We were electric for several years and now we have no drummer and are acoustic. Maybe it's not personal and just a directional change. Good luck and I'm sure you'll find a new project, you're a bass player after all.
 4. It's sometimes a never ending journey to get your bass amplified the way you like. If you're not playing in very loud situations then you might consider some kind of mic setup like the ATM350 mixed with a pickup. Have a look at this list. Not sure how old it is but it gives you an idea of whats out there. Good luck on your mission
 5.
There are so many great upright players around. But some of my favourites are guys like Christian McBride,Ray Brown,Paul Chambers,NHOP,Ron Carter,John Patitucci,Eddie Gomez....there are just too many to mention or think of right now. I nearly forgot.......Edgar Meyer is particularly awesome.
+++1
 6. Their instruction manual online is certainly lacking a bit. They don't mention having to alter the surface of either the bass or pickup prior to mounting and make it sound and look so easy. Will you be able to reset your sound post ok? It may be a case of a luthier job to install the pup and reset your sound post.
 7. heh heh... at least you stick to your principles. If you don't get along in a band setting there's no real point as you won't be playing "together". Hope you find something soon bud.
 8.
I've recorded some clips as a couple of people have asked for them. Links are back in the first post!
Sounds lush... Wanna trade a Black MM Stingray 3eq??
 9. Nice one Jez.
 10.
Not 100% sure I want to get rid of this... It sounds great and plays brilliantly but after trying and buying various basses over the years, I've come to the conclusion that I'm a passive Fender P-Bass guy!
Not being silly but, have you thought about rewiring this with just a vol and tone per pickup? I bet even wired passive, this thing would sound lovely.
 11.
aghh gassss...................;-)
+1
 12. ONO type bump
 13. No Love for a great axe? Nice alternative to a Fender/Ric/MM. Great backup bass and a bargain. Going to ebay and gumtree soon. Anyone?
 14.
That would be funny synchronicity.. I thought I recognised the band name - we were talking outside the Holmfirth gig just after your set on Friday. Me and the wife had chips(!) and I was playing guitar upstairs apres-gig. Must practice guitar..
Blimmey, how are you mate? Small world. Nice chatting with you and your wife. You guys must have been roasting upstairs by the time you went on. It was an oven when I left before LL's last tune, plus the smoke was thick as well. Did the crowd stick around?
 15. There seems to be a lot of love for a Markbass LMII paired to a Bareface Compact or Bigone. Also, there's a Warwick rig in the for sale section. Guess it depends on your budget and the sound you're looking for. Good luck and good to hear your playing again. Cheers,

 18.
If you can widen the neck, change the pups and bridge, get a low B squeezed on before you get here we might have a deal
My 5 string Warmoth fits that description but there's no way I'd part with it. Good luck with the sale.
 19.
Bring your Bongo 5HH to Liverpool on the ferry and I'll meet you there with the Mesa swaps
Is it just a Bongo or would a black 3 eq 'Ray with maple neck sway you? (and the fact that I'm 20 mins up the road in Wakey )
 20.
Are the necks on these basically like a P-bass? Or chunkier like the old Ibanez basses from the late '70s - early '80s, something like that? I've never had one but I like the look.
Hard to explain their profile. They are wide at the nut (~ 44 mm) but the necks are more flat than the Fender C/D profile. They're very playable and robust but not similar to anything else I've played. I'm not far from York if you want to check it out.
 21. This is now sold Here for sale a mighty T-40. Believed to be 1979 ish in age. A couple of knocks and dings but very playable and that ultra wide range of usable tones. All in working order. I'm selling because I need a new cab. I damaged my gigging rig . Cheap sale and a bargain at £235 + P&P. Comes with used hard case. EDIT: Looking for a straight sale with this, no swaps thanks.

 23.
Can anybody suggest what to do before the dreaded ebay??? anyone??? Alex
Bass Gallery in London? local Gumtree? Any big music shops around where you could put up an ad? Local papers? Times are tough right now, especially for more expensive items. Keep at it. It's a great instrument and should eventually sell.
 24.
Update. It's being delivered on Thursday! I feel a sickie coming.......
I know just the cure, playing a bass
