1. Could you mock one up using the metal holder and just a dowel as the endpin? You could post the holder with several lengths of dowel that swap in and out to the customer/trial person to find the correct length. I imagine after two or three people do this, you will be able to tell the bent length in relation to a normal end pin?
2.
Thanks for the heads up, that's a great idea and it's awesome it's being made in the UK.
+1
3. Here is mine
4.
Oh, but they're awful, haven't you read? http://basschat.co.u...s-2014-anygood/ (FWIW I like mine, in spite of its utter wretchedness)
I like yours too, that thing sounded great
5. These really are nice basses. Quite a few tonal options with the pickup split/tap. Easy to play. Great looking too. Enjoy
6. Looks great. Wish I was nearer so I could try it out. Good luck with the sale.
7.
Glad everyone is pleased Got a couple new ones going out this week. And working on a special edition one for a bit of fun! Watch this space.
Oooh, themed end pins. I'd like to see novelty end-pin rubber, like a chicken foot, or a shoe or something
8. Can't understand why this is still here, especially at this price. We used mine in our studio for 3-4 months and recorded everything from modern pop to reggae and in between. Most of the change in tones was from altering the two attenuators on the cab. We used a valve amp through it (Dynacord BA300), Mark Bass LM II, and a few others. All gave different but great results. They aren't heavy by any means, I can haul mine around with one hand when needed. Just a great cab that will give you loads of performance. We tested it against a BF twin 12 cab with tweeter at a bass bash and while the BF was a little lighter, the EAD had a nicer, fuller low end and all around tone. It just sat nicer in the band mix. Plus you have way more flexibility with the EAD. It's a great workhorse cab, designed and built with precision and performance in mind, very reasonable footprint...and it has a great cover too
9. Thanks for the help Daf.
10. I have a BXS EUB and want to replace the Spiro Weichs with either silver slaps or Honeys to darken the tone and feel a little. I have an old set of Honeys that I was going to try oin the bass and when In came to put the first string on (G) I noticed there is a huge amount of peg length, so much so that it covers the winder and then has 4 or 5 additional wraps on top. Can I cut the peg ends down a bit without it damaging the string? The speaking length from nut to bridge is 41 inches. There isn't much of a tail peice on this bass and the peg box is pretty small and close to the nut.

13. Changes in my personal life mean I'm leaving my current function band Anna and the Sharpnotes. I offered to help find a dep/replacement for some upcoming gigs, mainly July 12th and Aug 16th, both in West Yorkshire. They are a class line up (female lead vox, guitar, bass, keys, drums), very funny to hang out with as well as quiality players. It's a fun band. You'll need to be a proficient player with backing vocals a bonus. Please contact their musical director Mark via the details on the website link or feel free to PM me and I can give you the details. Here is a list of songs they often perform: Valerie Forget You My Girl Thriller/Billie Jean Walking on Sunshine Human Signed Sealed Delivered Hallelujah You know I'm no good Dance the Night Away Crazy Sex on Fire Dance with me Tonight Mr Blue Sky Don't Stop Me Now Summer of 69 Highway to Hell Runaway Baby Brown Eyed Girl Johnny B Goode Hey Ya Get Lucky Moves Like Jagger I Wish Daydream Believer I Feel Good 500 Miles Kingston Town Don't Stop Believin Mr Brightside Angels Someone like you What's up Addicted to love
14. If it's not too far and I'm available, I'd turn up List names below 1. Owen 2. TPJ
15. Maybe give the bridge a wack on the top where the strings rest every now and then. Sometimes the strings can start pulling the bridge up and it will warp. I do this periodically to keep the bridge seated. A nice bound hard cover book works well
16. Looks good. I would think removing the castors is a good idea. If anyone hits the stand and it starts rolling, the bass might tip over. Wouldn't mind seeing some pics of the inside to, unless it's pat. pending

SOLD

This is a great bass, I owned it several years ago It looks great and sounds great with the East preamp through those pickups. It balances great and isn't heavy if I remember correctly. It lead me to by another ACG recently. Good luck with the sale.
18. I would have thought steel strings and a mag pup would help you get closer to the tone you're after.
19.
Just another endorsement of Ben's wooden pins from me. Three or four of the regulars at our monday session have commented on how much better the bass sounds since I got the new pin.
+1 You can hear the difference and the bass feels more secure knowing the pin isn't going to move. I keep my old pin in the bass during transport and use the wooden one for everything else.
20. I have a metal tailpiece going spare if you want it. I'd be happy to contribute it to the project.
21. There is an early music shop near where I work and in there they have Baroque instruments that are fretless but have gut tied around the finger boards to create frets. Maybe you could find a way to do this on a modern instrument.
22. The Art Tube MP also has a phase switch. It's more of a mic preamp with no eq but it works well with DB. Much cheaper 2nd hand too.
23.
... these are seriously a LOT of bass for the money- someone is going to be made up with this...
+1

Big E MA45

Thanks for the reply Dave. I was looking at the 46 as well but it's that another couple of hundred $ plus it looks that much bigger. I've been sifting through all the TB threads about the BigE cabs and my head is now spinning
