1.
my picks of choice are a tad thicker than .96
'kinell!
 2.
...burgundy mist.

Well that's just purple.
Light purple? Lilac? At least it's not pink
 3. Although I rarely use a plectrum, these days, my choice is a Dunlop Delrin 1.14mm in attractive fuschia:
 4. This is in danger of turning into another light weight gear thread!
 5. Bass - hard case or gig bag Cabs - Roqsolid covers Streamliner head - laptop bag, speaker cable in pocket Demeter head - Antler rucksack, speaker cables in pocket Stands - stand bag Everything else - a large case from Maplin - this holds coiled-up mic leads, instrument leads, mains leads etc, microphones, multi-tools, and various spares and gadgets
 6. I probably average 5-6 days per week, usually working on something for an upcoming gig. As well as 2 regular bands I do a lot of deps and 1-offs, so there's always something to get up to speed with.
 7.
As for open strings I feel this is a bit of a hangover from the classical world. When I took violin lessons I was taught to shy away from open strings as they have a different timbre. I've also read that this attitude is way more prevalent in European (and ex-European) bassists than with those in the US. I suppose it depends on whether you treat the open strings as a crutch or not.
James Jamerson used open strings to provide descending chromatic approach notes while playing in 'flat' keys. Although it's good not to become dependent upon open strings, that doesn't mean you can't or shouldn't use them when they're available.
 8. The only amp I've tried that I thought had anything over my Demeter - same power stage, but that Sensitivity control is amazing, it just gets more awesome as you wind it up! Just lush
 9.
They are indeed, but one of my Ps had to go, and won't be the US Standard! This one's just down the road (A420) from Swindon too
I had a CIJ '62 RI in Fiesta Red which I now regret letting go, but my recently acquired CIJ '57 RI in CAR is scratching that itch!
 10. Trades: Also interested in a 5E3-type guitar amp, cash either way depending on what it is!
 11.
Never seen that gear before, sounds great tho
Yes indeedy, loads of cable for a silly cheap delivery-included price!
 12.
I've had a 500 Fusion, an MB500 and an MB200 and regret selling all of them, especially the Fusion.
Did you not get the message after you'd sold the first two?!
 13. Always worth posting at least one picture, even if it's easy to find stock pictures online.
 14. I've had 'solid' a couple of times. I'll take that, but to me the biggest compliment is when the band I'm depping for asks me back.
 15. Bought 1987 Gibson LP Jnr for £899. Sold 3 years later for £499 less PayPal fees.
 16.
Fantastic amps. But dare I say I'm a little disappointed, don't know why but they cost so much and while I'm sure there's nothing wrong with the design etc. I almost expect to see something magical in there. If you get my meaning. Although top side they really do look the business!!! So much want from me lol
I'm a bit surprised to see PCB-mounted valve sockets at the price those things go for!
 17. Not to rain on anyone's parade, but Frank Zappa and Steve Vai did this on 'The Dangerous Kitchen' and 'The Jazz Discharge Party Hats' (both on the album The Man From Utopia).
 18. I had one of these, loved the synths, especially the pulse width modulation (PWM) effect.
 19. Great basses these CIJ Precisions
 20. This thread needs more pics!
 21.
I got a set of imperial and metric Allen keys from B&Q for about £8.
So did I!
 22.
I am struggling to not comment...........
I also brought it in from the car at a party band rehearsal, after 2 songs' worth of hideous non-tone from the rehearsal studio's Peavey (Max 115?) combo. Nice but not loud enough, unsurprisingly.
 23.
Is it possible to obtain a deep, warm, rich bass tone, only at low volumes and obviously not in a gigging environment - but just for home and studio use??
Yes it is. See here.
