well everyone else seems to be doing it, so here are a few pics. i avoid photos when possible... (halloween ) not sure why this has come out so tiny, must have hit an odd button on photobucket.

i really shouldn't buy stuff off itunes late at night. the other night for some unknown reason i ended up buying an album of hayao miyazaki/studio ghibli movies themes done in a musicbox style. seriously, who even comes up with these ideas? and why am i admitting to buying it on a public forum?

i have only ever played 2 basses i have fallen in love with over my 2003 sterling. one was some beat up old jazz at the gallery (CK, can you remember how old that was?), the other was CKs alembic. the jazz just felt and sounded so full of spirit and soul, and the alembic is just lovely, the only way i can put that bass into words is that playing it felt like driving my car does. x

mmm. well there are quite a few bands called 'cahoots' but we seem to be quite a different style, and quite some way away from the others. plus, we add an exclamation mark. so we are ok with it! x

don't have any gigs planned til december, bluetones in sheffield on the 11th, and *gulp* our (originals band) first one on the 12th... its only a little one though, so nothing to worry about, right? x

i go through phases too. i try and make sure i pick up the bass every day though, even if i'm going through an 'oh god, i'm sh*t at this' phase. (like today!) even if i just play for 5-10 mins and put it down, it's better for me personally than not touching it at all for a day. all it takes is for a really good piece of feedback about my playing, or hearing an incredible bassline and i get fired up again. i'd recommend lessons, and finding others to play with, helped me no end. i happened to find myself a VERY cute tutor, too, which is definitely enough to encourage me to pick up the bass and zip over to his for a lesson actually, perhaps thats what i need today... x

i do name most things actually. my car kind of has a name by default (the pac-mobile, cause of the pacman on the roof), my plants have names, random spiders have names etc, but my basses are simply called 'the sterling' 'the acoustic' and 'the old one' (which i suppose is sort of a name). the one that i actually did have a nickname for is on loan to me so i have managed to resist naming it so far. if i name it, it has to stay. however, if i am talking about them to non-bassy people, usually if i want one passing to me, they are 'the brown one', 'the big black one with the hole in', 'the one in the lounge' and 'the spangly orange one'. x
