3.
You may want to have a wander through this page on Homeopathic remedies and ear infections http://abchomeopathy.com/c.php/175 Worth a go whether you believe it or not
ooooh, i need belladonna, apparently, how cool! thanks for that link, i will try that, definitely! re: the song, it's at 14 secs in in this. couldn't find one where i could see a bass player playing where i needed! hope that helps? x
 4.
On a side note - good luck with the ear infection Mewsie. I've had 3 in the same ear in the last four years (just got rid of one last week) and if you don't catch them fast enough with a visit to the docs for antibiotics - they bloody hurt. My deepest sympathies go out to you.
thanks m'dear. its an ongoing problem for me, flares up every couple of months, and is playing havoc with my bass-ing as i do everything by ear. re: your ear, i'm sorry to hear that, ear infections really suck don't they? x
 5.
Do you read notation, Mewsie? If so I'll transcribe it for you tomorrow.
i do indeed! thanks! thanks for the replies btw, much appreciated! i'm feeling much less tense now. x
 6. I adore the original but the band I'm auditioning for are playing this version. I could easily keep it simple, it's just that I'd love to be able to play that little bit and I can't quite pick it up. x
 7.
I wonder what it would look like.
dunno, a bit like galilee about half an hour ago? x
 8. there should be an 'i'm being sarcastic' smiley. x
 9. hey folks, i'm sat working out the bassline to Valerie (the amy winehouse/mark ronson version) and have come up against a little riff i need some help with. i have an ear infection right now which really isnt helping, and need to work this, or something like it out before friday! the most of it i've sat and worked through, but *right* before the vocals come in, theres this really awesome little riffy bit. its very short, but i like it. i want to try and get that sound, but i just can't figure out what is being played there... i could just forget all about it and move on, but i don't work like that! any chance anyone can help me out? i don't really use tab, someone did chuck some my way (thanks Moody) but it missed all the funky stuff out. appreciate it guys and gals! x
 10. pffft... don't give up! i'd also recommend you count out loud to a tune you love to help you pick up the rhythm. play some really simple basslines as well as the more complicated ones, which will mean you can concentrate on your timing, not where your fingers have to be. as far as writing basslines goes, i've found the more songs i've learnt, the more cool ideas i've had for basslines, and the fact that i've been playing all these other tunes has meant my skill level has gone up massively and i have a lot more techniques available to me in writing my own! listening to music i wouldn't have listened to a few years ago has made a massive difference too. good luck, keep at it! x
 11.
Her hand size will be the same and her perception of your bass size will be informed by her experience with oither people's basses and how huge they look compared to yours, relative to her hands. The only one fooled will be you (and anyone you show the pictures to ...) Or do women's hands relate to the size of their basses, the same way men's feet and hands do? I guess that would make sence, well, for a while anyway.
x
 12.
One of my cello pupils gave me the Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings album last week. I really like it!
yeah! i have a few of their albums, incredible! i'm spreading the word. x
 13. mmm, well right now i'm listening to sex machine, cause thats what i'm playing on the bass (which is on my lap as i type this). but this week so far i am mostly listening to mr scruff, sharon jones and the dap-kings, chris ballew (presidents of the usa) solo stuff, and mark morriss (of the bluetones) new album. mainly cause those are the cd's in my car! x
 14. what an intro, wow! hello, welcome! x

 17.
I suspect that most people only quote the first part of the number to prevent fraudsters using the number to sell a fake. Andy
i used to import and sell robots on ebay, and there was a huge problem with scammers. we tried to come with as many possible ways of proving the auction wasn't a scam, mine were highly personalised, but then idiots took to copying my entire auctions and relisting them. (so i started adding rude messages to my self-hosted images after my auctions had ended) we never did figure out whether adding serials was a good or bad thing, people seemed to scam regardless. (and people continued to buy the scams) seems bizarre that the fender thing is so widespread! i hadn't noticed. x
 18.
I think it does, quite regularly. People are out there watching bands and then quickly become aware that they are seeing the same thing again and again and eventually stop going and stay at home with Cds, DVDs and YouTube. So the audience in 2008 is not the same audience as in 2005; they have all gone home to their iPods.
certainly with the people i know that isn't the case. if its a choice of sitting at home listening to a cd or nipping into town to sit with friends while a decent band play music, be it covers or otherwise, we'd go for the live music almost every time. i understand that may not be the case with many people! the energy you get from being in a venue with live music playing is, imo, a totally different experience to being sat at home. regardless of whether the band wrote the song themselves or not. unless the band are dull to watch, but that is nothing to do with the song they are playing. x
 19. i haven't read all this thread to apologies if i repeat a point already made! i don't think that the creativity needs just to come from the music/bassline. i've seen a good many bands with excellent tunes but are terribly boring to watch. i've also seen lots of bands doing covers, some are capable of making the song their own through being creative with the way they deliver it. we are just starting to write our own stuff, which is awesome fun, and sparks off my creative side in the same way as a piece of artwork would. however, we get just as much thrill out of belting out, say, a presidents of the usa cover as we do from doing our own stuff, because its how we deliver it as brothers, sister and friends. i think i had a point there somewhere. x
 20. gents and laydees welcome to the site! nice intro! mew x
 21.
Whack it with the family Bible used to be the conventional wisdom (not that I'm recommending that!)
a doctor ACTUALLY did that on my first one. it hurt like nothing i had ever experienced. until i had one on my ankle aspirated a while back. i sobbed like a small child, it was really awful. and i'm ok with pain usually, guess i just wasn't prepared for it. i'd be prepared if i was to attempt to hit it myself, but i suspect my unconscious mind may interfere. x
 22. oooh how exciting! i don't have a tv though, so alas, no shuker-viewing pleasure for me. sheffield isn't far from here though.. x
