well, i've had a good look round the forum (was hoping to answer my own question to save me asking) and read tons of stuff, and still need some pointers! i do hope this isn't horribly repetitive a question! i'm about to acquire a beautiful new bass (MM Sterling) and refuse to use my embarrassingly poop amp i bought many years ago. this bass deserves to be plugged into something decent (how exciting!) so here i need your help! this side of things is all very new to me. what would you recommend? i will mainly be playing at home (with my guitarist brothers), but i would like something that could withstand small gigs when i get to that stage. i also would like something that is going to last me well and make the most of the quality of the bass. second hand works for me, as i suspect i'll get something 'better' for my money that way. i am not sure what to expect in terms of price, but i have, say £2-300 available immediately. i was going to post this in the wanted section, but decided id hold off until i knew what i was actually looking for! thanks in advance... x

hello! well. the time came a few months ago, to dig out the bass i played for a few years when i was looking for something to do other than attend school. made a few changes in my life recently, and getting back into music was one of them. i'm at that point where i'm ready to get myself a really decent bass and take my playing to a new level, and i am sure i will learn masses from you guys. so, about me, i'm 28, i would say 'a girl' but at 28 i suppose i'm a woman or something. i live in leeds, which i am still learning my way around even though ive lived here 3 years, and i work wherever and whenever i please. which is pretty nice, i think. i like tea. and cake. sometimes both at the same time. i love my car, my mac(s), and fentimans ginger beer. i don't watch television. i probably talk too much, especially when i'm tired. and judging by the clock, i suspect i should stop typing now. i'd ask you to be gentle, but hey, where's the fun in that? x
