So. Initial impressions of these are the same as others. Compared to Warwick EMPs which have been my string of choice for he last 2-3 years the texture is something is very different straight from the off. Much smoother texture and much quicker to play as your fingers aren't grating on the strings. This is not to say that other strings are bad in this way. Just to say that these feel easier to play fast on. The sound is great and bright. I do not have a set of fresh EMPs to do a direct comparison but they are definitely on par. So, with only a couple of sessions at home under my belt I can say I am very impressed with these. They are a good tension, nice and bright and easier to play. Will take me a few months to see what the drop off in sound is like and to see who they hold up to getting a little dusty and sweaty over time. For reference they are fitted to my Warwick Corvette FNA Jazzman 5 string. This bridge has already been filed down a little so these fit okay. I think on a brand new bridge these might have taken some fettling to fit.

Price has is not much more from effectpowersupplies. Might be tempted to take a plunge and get one of these on order. Hmmm.

Never had any problems with EMP coated ones. They fit perfect. Cost a little extra up front but last for ages. can easy get 6-12 months out of a set depending on use.

A custom dingwall would be high on my list. Though Jon Shuker is doing some work on a bass for me at the moment so I will wait to see his work. A bass I would love is a Warwick P-Nut II but with some chambers in the body to just take the edge off of the weight. Though that might make it a bit neck heavy, hmmm. -

Just traded my Streamer with Sveinn for his FNA Jazzman. Transaction could not have been smoother. Sveinn even sent me his bass first with me to send second. Great guy to deal with and would happily have dealings with him again.

I will not be doing the work myself. Recently used John Shuker for a fret dress and he would be my first point of contact for this work. I just wanted to know if it is feasible, not seen one so wanted to know the overall opinion was.

So, I have just received a second Warwick FNA Jazzman in a trade. I was hoping to get a fretless as a trade but that didn't happen so I am left with a fretted bass that I either need to sell to raise funds or I am considering defretting. So my question is. Will a wenge fretboard work for a fretless? Anyone played one? I know that when Warwick offered this bass as a fretless option they changed it to an ebony board so that might be the plan but just wanted to see what people suggest.

Picked this up recently in a trade for my P-Nut that I had for sale. Also got it listed on the Warwick Forum. Lovely bass but I already have another couple of fretted 5 stringers and I really really want a fretless so it is the one that has to go cause my vette will be with me for life. So we have a 1991 Warwick Streamer Stage II NT 5 string bass. Its a great bass and only parting with it as it is currently surplus to requirements. Pickups are not stock and have been replaced by a previous owner with bartolinis, preamp has also been swapped to a bartolini. Original electronics will be supplied with the bass but I have been informed that they were faulty when taken out so might well need some tinkering. Sounds is lovely. All controls flat it is a nice jazz type clear tone. Boost the bass and the treble a tad and you get a much more traditional Wariwck growl. Overall a great bass. Very little wear, a few very small dints near the jack but other wise in great condition. Recently had a fret dress and set up by the brilliant John Shuker. Trade wise I want a fretless first and foremost. Ideally 5 strings and a warwick but open to fenders and the way through to zons. Hit me with what you have. I think this is a fair price for great warwick bass so please only sensible offers.
These are plenty loud. I gig mine in a noisy garage type band with 2 marshalled-up guitars and a loud drummer. I wouldn't be able to totally drown everyone out - but it sits high enough in the mix with a nice bit of snarl from the power section. Sounds ace. No probs so far
How would you say it compares volume-wise to the ABM500? This is my current amp and would need to it to be as loud.
