1.
Or perhaps he wiped his cock on them
I hate it when my wife does this. That amp just looks wrong!
2.
Am I being dense or does the website not actually say where they are?
If it does it's not very clear. I was looking for their location as I seem to remember a place in Holsworthy and wondered if it was them.
3. I picked up one of these to use on doublebass. It was very reliable and never got any interference or drop out, but I did loose some bottom end so I moved it on. For vocals I'd imagine it would be fine.
4.
2 mins Next your going to tell me he didn't do it silently
Ahh, the tuning song. E E E E Eeeeeeeee E E E Eeeeeeeee, A A A Aaaaaaa A A A A Aaaaaaaaaaaaaa, D D D D D D D D D......... Ow, what the hell did you just slap me for? E E Eeeeeeee
5.
Hard to tell, it was six years ago...
6. Depending on the sound you're after, the acoustic version is very good on bass as well, no drive but for a clean bass sound it has the addition of a sweepable mid control.
7. Having only played unlined fretlesses that's exactly where I'd expect the dots to be, I find the lines to be the confusing part if anything.
8. My two Ubasses turned up yesterday. First thought was they look a lot nicer than I expected. The fretted one has razor sharp fret edges and buzzes quite a bit but is nice and even across the strings plugged in, a quick tweak on the trussrod and the buzzing has gone so a file on the frets will sort that one out. The fretless needed the same trussrod tweak but plugged in has low volume on the A and D strings, paper shims sorted this on the deko acoustic bass I got a while ago so shouldn't be a big problem. On the whole a happy chappy
9. Why's it got a strap button, surely a caster on the lower bout would be more useful?
10. Had the confirmation, they're both on their way. I'm pretty much exclusively doublebass now so will probably just keep the fretless but was wondering what the intonation is like on the fretted higher up the board. I know what cheap acoustics can be like with no adjustment, especially with such a short scale.
11. Ordered a fretted and fretless and I'll move on whichever one I don't want. Was just going to get a fretless but intonation on such a small scale is a pain higher up the neck so I thought screw it I'll try a fretted as well, although the intonation might be awful on that anyway. Just got to wait for that all important confirmation email.
12.
I got confused and thought you meant the Def Leppard track...I'll get me coat.....
All the instruments on the Def Leppard one really easy, I can even drum to it with one arm tied behind my back.
13.
Pete Loaf. My all time favourite tribute act name!
Got to be on par with Jef Leppard.
14.
Maude, you're the king of the mash up
15.
Two that do it for us are Good Times and You've Got The Love
We mash those two up, and it's definitely a floor filler.
16. We're an acoustic band (doublebass, mandolin, guitar and cajon), our version of Push It by Salt 'n' Peppa which morphs into My Sharona with the verse of The Buzzcocks' Ever Fallen in Love sang over the baseline to Push It in the middle. Sounds mad but gets everyone up dancing.
17. Mine was £279 from GAK, was a while ago now though. £244 is definitely cheap
18. Yes on the coneheads soundtrack, which I bought just for that song. Lovely laid back groove, one of their finest moments.
19.
Someone will have to step up to the plate. Cometh the hour, cometh the question: "Which castors are best for metal?"
Which metal is best for casters? As far as I know the casters won't lift the cab high enough to stop boundary reinforcement so won't make any difference to sound.
20. Is it any good for chordal playing?
21. I'm confused. Are your ports now going straight through the cab now if they stick out the back? If so then you cab is now sealed again just with a smaller internal area surely, unless I've misunderstood you, which is quite likely .
22. I'm no expert but I think the port can can have bends in it, if the cab isn't deep enough for the needed port length it can have a right angle bend in it and go up, down or sideways, whichever is most convenient. Hopefully someone can confirm that .
23. How can a man go on stage wearing satin flares? Sounds like great fun. One of my old bands morphed into a glam band, the singer complained we weren't getting enough gigs so we went down the glam route, booked a load of gigs and the singer then walked out because it was too big a commitment. Have fun
24.
After reading this thread I had google for a pedal documentary, expecting there to be some kind of "History of..." deal, but I was rather disappointed. The best I could find was: Cry Baby: The Pedal That Rocks The World Fuzz: The Sound That Revolutionized The World Beautiful Noise (About the shoegaze scene in the 90s- looks great, but not what I went looking for.)
I think a book on the history of effects and how they came about would be really interesting, I don't know how much call for it there would be though. A lot of effects seem to be the by product of something else.
25. I'm by no stretch of the imagination an encyclopedia on doublebass, but I've found that whilst boosting mids on electric bass really helps cut through, doing the same on doublebass just produces a very 'boxy' sound which doesn't sound nice. I'm using Innovation Rockabillys and going for that traditional thud, rather than bright jazzy kind of sound. Whether that helps you or not I don't know.
