Used one on my doublebass at rehearsal tonight, it fits on the bridge and faces the right direction better than my Snark. Both of them rotate and swivel freely and tune well enough. I'm happy

Are the stone walls exposed? If yes then the uneven surface will serve to break up soundwaves.Modern flat, parallel walls are more of problem. I've always found suspended floors more of a problem than solid ones as well, they always seem very boomy. I'd go with Dad's advice and leave as is for a while and see how you get on, might not need to do anything.

Aria P copy (£40 s/h) with 1/4lbs and Chromes fitted. Did loads with that including weddings and beer festival with 1200 audience. I love it.

Both of mine turned up yesterday, haven't tried them yet but I'm sure they're worth a couple of quid each.

I have a horrible feeling I might have paid four quid for one tuner. When I clicked that link above it said I've bought one item and paid four pounds for it. It does also state one per customer but I didn't read that when I ordered. So all the multiple purchasers may have just donated some extra money. Nevermind, I'll wait and see what turns up

I think it shows real innovation and the instruments have something special about them when finished.

Can you not go through the PA and just use your amp for monitoring?

I know how you feel. I've just another band and have fifty songs to learn by the end of the month, including rehearsals and gigs with the band I'm already in. The new band is Mod, Northern Soul and Ska so some real fun tunes to play, but like you say, the easy ones seem to be harder to remember.

You can make the most of smaller lights if they struggle to illuminate the stage well by pointing them at the ceiling above you, it's usually white and will reflect the light around much better than aiming them down at all the dark objects.

Is it just home use, ie quiet? If so download the free Boss tuner app, lower the sensitivity a tad in the settings and Bob's your uncle.

Just bought a Hiscox case from Nige, he hung on to the case for a couple of weeks for me even though I couldn't tell him exactly when I could pick it up until the last minute. Top chap to deal with, thanks Nige

Ditch the Thunderguts and order a set of Pahoehoe strings from Road Toad. Contrary to every comment and review I've read I find the black Pahoehoe strings a lot less grippy, higher tension (or whatever you'd like to call it) and more stable once settled in. Being slightly firmer the intonation issues that arise from heavy fretting is less noticeable. Also being less grippy you won't pull the string out of tune as easily when sliding. All this is my opinion of course.

Doublebass straight in a Phil Jones Bass Suitcase and 4B extension cab, no pre amp or pedals. The rig sits on a folding aluminium hop-up step thing to get it up to nice height. Always sounds good even in known problem venues. I think there's a lot to be said for keeping things simple

I think the OP had weighed up whether life was worth living or not when he bought a KA To be fair I used to load up a proper Mini like this years ago. The front seats tipped forwards pivoting on two bolts which I replaced with two pins with R clips so the passenger seat was 'quick release'. With the seat out I could fit half the PA on the back seat , my big, heavy Peavey amp where the front seat was and loads of other bags in around it all with a couple of basses in hard cases on top of it all. I had to break hard in a back lane once and one of my basses slid forwards with enough force to push the front screen out (perished screen rubber), the bass slid down the bonnet and I had to embarrassingly get out in front of the car I had stopped for and pick up my windscreen and bass. The screen was broken but the hard case did it's job. Moral of the story? Always transport your bass in a hard case
