  1. He would be if he wasn't nine months old . Lovely guitar BTW 😉
  2. Blimey, saw Corrosion of Conformity when they supported Megadeth back in the early 90's. Didn't know they were still going.
  3. Apparently George Michael was hugely shy and without Andrew Ridgeley being by his side Wham! would never have happened. GM acknowledged this by giving AR equal songwriting credits on songs that he maybe wasn't a big part of, or even had nothing to do with.
  4. Saw it last night. I'm not a Queen 'fan' but enjoy their music so went with an open mind to watch an entertaining film, not a documentary. I really enjoyed it, everything musically was realistic enough, more so than a lot of films with actors playing musicians. I found it quite emotional in places (glad it was dark in there) and uplifting and joyous in others. It said enough about Freddies life without going into unnecessary gory details and of course the film centres on Freddie, he was the star in Queen so was the the star in the film. All in all I think it's a great film. I liked the nod from Mike Myers towards the Wayne's World scene which was slipped in.
  5. Ditto. In forty-five years on this planet my newspaper buying tally has yet to reach double figures. I've never seen the point, if the news is going to affect me then I'll find out about it soon enough. I did read the linked article about Mr. Deacon when first posted but have forgotten most it's contents now. His life choice seems fair enough to me, I won't bother him and I doubt he'll bother me so we'll get along just grand. Now where's that cup of tea gone.
  6. If stuck for inspiration try writing about everyday characters you see around you. That lonely busker with the weathered guitar. He had a career but it didn't go far. His worldly possessions in a bag by his side. His previous life washed away like the tide. His family still love him but he'll never return. He's doing alright, he's got eight quid to burn. What you think he's lacking won't ever get him down. He's the Lord of his manor, the King of his town. Blah, blah, etc, etc. Pick an interesting person, couple, group and make up their story. It stops it feeling too personal when singing to others. It worked for the Kinks. 😊
  7. Put the maple neck and black scratchplate on the off white one and I'll have it. Do you reckon they'll notice if I order both and send back the 'bitsa' that I don't want? 😁
  8. I don't use them so don't know but wouldn't in ear monitors sort this problem? Just have them as loud as needed, and if ambient sound missing is a problem then set up a spare microphone somewhere and blend it into your mix.
  9. Well there's a saying you don't hear down the W.I.
  10. Both my bands just use Google calendar, everyone in both bands (drums, guitar and myself are in both bands) has access to calendar and update with anything that needs to be on there. I'm not a technophobe but if it makes my life more complicated I don't use it (tech should make life easier), I cope alright with it.
  11. Seems I was repeating Andy Travis, oops. But if two us have independently said the same thing then it must be true, it's the rules of the Internet.
  12. I assume the same reason the Ford Model T became the 'PBass' of cars so to speak. Not the first, not necessarily the best, but maybe it just did what it was supposed to, reliably, and at a reasonable price. The 'everymans' bass guitar.
  13. Maybe it's the future, not only fretless but boardless as well.
  14. Where? In the wall I beat it against trying to kill it?
  15. And Crazy Train needs that vibraslap as well.
  16. Pretty much anything by CAKE for vibraslap (and awesome bass)
  17. Yes bog logs can be very tricky to work with. Sometimes they come out really nice, other times can be a real pain in the Aris.
  18. This song just wouldn't be the same without the lowly handclaps.
  19. You won't regret it, if you like your classic rock you'll love it. I used to go and see them many years ago before my Basschat days BTW, your singer will be back @Telebass, a ginger can't last song in the Australian sun :D.
  20. Time for a story, sorry Many years ago lighting was expensive and I was broke. For our band I kibbled some lighting together, ahem health and what? Anyway I had two kitchen spotlight units with three different coloured halogen spots in each, a strobe attached to each and a smoke machine. It was all wired through a homemade footswitch to turn it all on and off. The smoke machine was tucked behind my massively over the top bass rig consisting of a bi-amped pair of 15's and a pair of 12's, aiming behind the drummer. When we did Motorheads Overkill I would stomp on the switch turning off the coloured lights and turning the smoke and strobes on when it got to all the false endings, if you know the song you'll know when I mean. At one gig I stomped enthusiastically on the switch at the correct moment which immediately fell to pieces leaving the smoke machine and strobe permanently on only able to be turned off at the wall. The drummer slowly disappeared from sight, then the guitarist and I and it stayed on for the remainder of the song until the stage area and crowd were completely lost in the fog and blinded by massive white strobes bouncing off the cloud. Oh how we all laughed, well apart from the drummer who was having some sort of epileptic asthma attack
  21. Fair enough, I can't help with that then 😁
  22. Pyrotechnics, that's what audiences want, pyrotechnics.
  23. https://m.thomann.de/gb/stairville_led_bar_240_8_bundle.htm?o=17&search=1539710983 Here you, bit dearer than I thought but they really are versatile, and surprisingly bright.
  24. Not cans but Thomann do a twin pack in a case of LED bars, really bright. Do all the usual sound to light, fade, DMX stuff or just set them to a colour and forget. They do different colours at the same time if you want. Lay them down or put them on stands. Just over £100, Stairville I think. I'll try and find them.
