Fretless Farida FJB - Prototype Finished!
JakeBrownBass replied to AndyTravis's topic in Build Diaries
Got the chance to play this bass the other day and i've got to say, it really plays beautifully. To my ears, the gloss one sounded better and i didn't think the glossed neck was too bad to play. Aesthetically, they were a little too orange for my liking but i think Andy agreed with me. Any guys in Manchester i really do recommend going to try these basses out, thanks again Andy. Anyway, heres a picture of my mate Ian trying it out. -
Here's another one, great tune. The ending is a little different on this as this is what i use when we arranged it for a big band and obviously we couldn't fade out Enjoy, Jake Edit: Video of me playing it

Ok, so this is a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine but some of you may enjoy it. If any one has any recommendations, please just fire a pm and hopefully i can help. I'm building up a reoptoire of transcriptions on my website, here, they are all free and open for public use. I hope some of you are finding these useful. Jake
I know this could be controversial but for someone that needs to learn songs in a hurry, this website is quite useful. Let's say someone asks you to stand in for a covers band at short notice. For me, as a non-reader, it would be useful.
Even if you were a reader, theres not that many popular songs out there that a written down & readily available.

Hey guys, I've been learning this for a while, its a great tune and has monster groove. Some great feeling lines on this one, hope you enjoy it. And please give me some feedback. -
So I want a really deep punk tone from my Jazz..?
JakeBrownBass replied to HMX's topic in Bass Guitars
Your never going to get that tone out of the ashdown in your sig. I think your nearest chance is by using something like a sansamp as stated earlier. -
Post your pictures, Lets see what you all look like.
He''s not the bass playre in the hat that's always in the background when Brucie introduces Dave Arch(?) is he... Be funny if he was as my wife and I comment on him getting on the telly every week....
I don't thinks he's the player on the TV show, think he just does the strictly tour.

I'm confused. Bassida is Funkhauser, She's on tc's website, and here. Fretless Farida FJB - Prototype Finished!
See...i prefer the look of the Gloss too, but the Satin one feels really cool, and looks more modern. The Gloss one is pretty snappy and bright, the Satin one sounds much smoother and plays much quicker... I compared them side by side with the Squier VM and they look soo much more expensive, feel much nicer and the Seymour Duncans are much nicer than the Duncan Designeds. Here are the 3 of them together, Squier at the front, obviously. The Vol/Vol/Tone/Tone setup is a masterstroke too - I've already got into the sound of Bridge pickup on full, tone right up and Neck pickup backed off a bit with tone fully off, sounds wierdly cool. Gripes? If any? The Tint on the neck is pretty dark, and I can't figure out if it's nice or not. Matches the bursts well - liks kind of 'Roasted'. The Fingerboard Marker at the 12th fret on one of them is a bit wonky, but I suspect it was the first one they did, so had a teething issue, doesn't bother me at this stage.
Are they staying in dawsons Andy or are you taking them home, I'd love to come have a go on them. -
+1!
If you search for LED strip on ebay it comes up with loads of 12v ones for cars to power via your cigarette lighter, so it should be pretty easy to wire a connector for a 12v dc plug.

Hey guys, I've got a EBS HD350 on its way in as i'm trying to move back to what i use to have. I currently have an epifani ul210 cab and was wondering if anyone on here has paired up ebs & epifani. Ideally i'm looking for an EBS cab but if this set up works i'll probably keep the epifani as well. Cheers, Jake

Not a fan of that. Seems a little odd to emphasise the top horn on a single cut? Sure it plays great though

What are you listening to right now?
JakeBrownBass replied to Sarah5string's topic in General Discussion
simply amazing. -
I love Victor. He really is my biggest inspiration! Do i try to play like him?? no, but anytime i see him play makes me want to play more & better myself. I could spend countless hours watching him on youtube but i couldn't do this with any other player. For me, this is the best "bass solo" i have ever ever heard and i've not heard anything else come close since.
