6. Looking to trade my epifani ul210 for an EBS neo 212. Its a series 1 cab, so it's stupidly light and sounds great. I've got a EBS head coming and like things to match so thats the only reason i'm trading. If the EBS comes up for sale on here i will add a price to sell this. I'll post some decent pictures later tonight. Jake
Might have that copy, I'll have a look tonight.
Cheers Bud
 8.
I am having great trouble, indeed i find it impossible to stretch four frets at the bottom end, or even the top end on the E and A strings. There are supposedly excercizes that can be done. Has anyone had any actual sucess with any of them? If so, where can i find details? Its not that i have too much trouble playing. But if i want to keep my thum as an anchor on the back of the neck then i have to slide my hand a little.
Dave Marks talks about this here.
 9.
I think that’s my point, look at the projects of some of the teachers on BC and you can tell that they are class players working in quality bands or shows even though the playing is technically not difficult. Some of the tutors I looked at where in just good local bands many metal or indie with no mention of experience or pro work, often with a Universality qualification. I am not knocking the style of music or any qualifications I Just wondered how you know someone is suitable for someone who has been playing years.
There's a big difference between a Great player and a great teacher. Just because you can play well doesn't in turn mean you can teach. But great teachers are generally great players. Choosing a teacher is hard work if you don't already know someone that's been taught by them.
 10.
When a bass tutor says beginners to advanced welcome what do they mean by advanced? after doing a bit of research on some local tutors web sites the standard of playing and seems no better then many of the people on bass chat. I expected to be wowed and inspired. not a word about any pro work
I'd class my teacher as an "advanced" teacher. He wows me & inspires me every lesson. Its not just all about technique, but fretboard knowledge, theory, groove, feel. Its these last things that i think makes one teacher stand out from another.
 11.
Can't help with that, sorry, but, what about transcribing it? easy Faith
I've got 4 songs i've got to transcribe a week atm for my uni work. Just wanted to play this for fun so thought i'd see if there was a transcription flying about anywhere.
 12.
Siggery for a Warwick Fortress Masterman 5 string?
Sorry bud, been through my warwick stage already
 13. Trade either or both?? Anything out there??
 14. Hate these type of things, but saying that, i can't believe Nathan East isn't even in the top ten. And that Nate Watts isn't even in it??
 15.
Hey Hannah, I was on the stand next to you & thought you played some really interesting stuff early in the day - when i could actually hear what was going on! Some very nice stuff using midi at one point?
Was great seeing you again Barrie, Have a great time in America and enjoy those foderas, remember, i'm not jealous one bit
 16.
Most consider sight reading meaning being able to read and play whatever you see pretty much correct at first glance as you actually play it through. I used to be able to read some French but it would take me a little time to understand and I definitely would not of been able to write a reply on the spot. In my case I can sight read treble clef but not bass, however were you transpose a bass score onto a treble clef I still wouldn't be able to sight read it because I do not have the capability to think 'c#' that's here on the neck in a split second. However if a tab tells me e string fret 2 I'm there without thinking. I know its not right and it limits my playing somewhat but I havnt got around to it yet. However I also find it somewhat liberating not to think about what note I'm playing and rather concentrate on what sounds good to me, as opposed to what should theoretically sound good (trap I fell into on keyboard for a while)
Honestly dude, If you try practice sight reading, it makes everything sooo much easier and everything falls into place.
 17.
There's plenty of great charts to be found online of tunes you'll know and probably like - so it doesn't all have to be 'Three Blind Mice' in different keys. Lot's of great Aretha Franklin stuff that isn't to hard on the eye but definitely gets you moving along. Enjoy!!!
Theres loads and loads of Aretha Franklin sheets here, http://freebasspart.pv24.pagesperso-orange...ass_Players.htm I've been using it whilst practicing reading!!
 18.
Err... you mean... this guy? http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseacti...deoid=100629250 " 'scuse me mate... is that as hard to play as it is to listen to??"
Thats the guy, Same thing at every stand, and has been been the same for the past 4 bassdays.
 19.
I've got a Lakland 44-02 Deluxe which I've put up here on BC for sale or trade. Currently considering a few trade offers I've received, but thought I'd throw it in here in case it's the sort of thing you're after? Oh, It's only a 4 stringer though.
Sorry dude, if i'm moving to one bass it'd have to be a 5 string. Also the value of these two is more than your wanting for your Lakland as lovely as it is
 20. Now, i may regret this but i thought i'd put it out there. If anyones interested, i'd like to trade both of my basses for one of yours. A jazz bass style and 5 string. Something like an overwater, sadowsky etc... If anyone is interested please pm me
 21.

Who\'s the guy in the back of this pic with the flat cap on?? Because he\'s done the same thing at every bassday i\'ve been to. Picked up a bass at a stand, Plugged into an amp, Turned it up loud, Turned around to purposely face into the room where everyone is, Then play really tasteless fast slap lines whilst starting at anyone who walks past. Then after 5 minutes of that he puts the bass down, Moves onto the next stand and does exactly the same thing.
 22.
+1. Also I did wonder how having a mental/nervous break down could actually affect the movement of your fingers in the first place?
That part came from the stroke.
 23.
If you went for the wooten you'd be looking at more like £7000 the PJ in sunburst was a great bass! ive no idea how you managed to resist trying it?
I spent a good 20 minutes on that Wooten, and god it was a hell of a bass. It played itself. Everything just seemed to work & sound better on it. Is it worth 6.5K, hmm i don't know but its still a insanely good bass.
 24.
I was thinking to myself, is Billy buying himself some more thinking time... or did he think the guy was a windup... he did look a little uncomfortable. As sad as the situation was, the whole life story was not appropriate. The statement that he has lost all movement in his pinkie would have been sufficient...
I still don't understand what the question was, was he asking Billy how to get his little finger working again?? Or was he asking what to do instead?? I'm still puzzled. I also didn't get what the guy was trying to get across in the Dave Marks session. Asking about what the drummer should do when playing really percussive melody?? Sounded to me like he was a.....deep breath............Mark King wannabe??
