I just saw this pic over at another Forum I go to, and I was blown away by the awesomeness of this (6 string) spector. What a thing of beauty. If I could only get hold of a 5 string like that ...............
Mr Spector does bake exceedingly nice basses. FWIW here's mine ...poplar burl with knobs on.

I'd say, budget £130 for a used bass (look in the For Sale part of the forum, here) and whatever you can spare for a lead, tuner and amp. If you are comfortable with computers, you can use your PC with amplified speakers as a bedroom practice amp, which is handy if you are moving between two residences.

Welcome jonny-lad. The epicentre of my band, Chainsaw (see my avatar) is Guiseley. What's happening in your bass world? Perhaps you'll make it to the Bass Bash?

Firstly, I'm more comfortable with the term "Favourite" than best, and secondly, I can't believe that two of my favourites that I thought of straight away, don't appear to have been given a mention yet ... Canterbury's Rotter Club supremo, Richard Sinclair, and Birmingham's cheeky chappie, Dave Pegg. Both very influential to my humble self, though admittedly of more appeal to those who remember the 70s.
I know it's not ideal but any chance I could bring my eldest lad along? It may be the only way I can get there for most of the afternoon.
There are no restrictions, as the bar area/snooker club is seperate to our room. Young folk, WAGs/HABs and even gu*tarists are welcome! -
Thanks! I may try black with an orange print next time, who knows!! The company I am using does all kinds of things. Maybe we will hold a design competition, too! Cheers ped
I think I'm more 'black with orange print' myself. If you want, Ped, I can have some on a Basschat Merch desk at the Yorkshire bash. -
I don't understand most of this, but I love watching this Techno Tennis
Excellent! Where is the nearest car park, or is there plenty around the venue?
Do come. Plenty of free parking around the venue, no stairs and there's a bar! I think if Carlsberg organised Bass Bashes ... Sunday 15th Feb 12 noon to 5PM. The Manhattan Club, Harrogate.
Just a point to note chaps - this is the day after Valentine's day. So - if you want to get a 24 hour pass from your loved one to devote to driving to Yorkshire and immersing yourself in all things bass, don't forget a card or flowers - or better still, both perhaps? There will be no fingertsyle workouts on anyones g string upon your return if you don't play this one right I might suggest! A
What could be more romantic than a weekend in Harrogate? It fits! -
So, just a reminder. If anyone wants to see for themselves how two little cabs can give a Vulcan bomber a run for its money, I'll be using both cabs tonight at Martha's Bar*, Guiseley, with Chainsaw. I may let them go as a pair. Ideally, I'll have a little cab in PX. *This from Leeds Pub Trail Compendium... "Our first bit of good news is that a new pub has already appeared on this run! Or rather, an old one has been reborn. The erstwhile Woolpacks reopened just before Christmas and is now known as Martha’s Alehouse. There are six handpumps on the bar, serving Wells Bombardier, Taylor’s Landlord and Best and a couple of guest beers on our visit. The pub is clean and bright throughout, with the bar in a room just to the right on entering and a homely lounge to the left. Both rooms have tv screens playing music and there’s a small pool room lying across from the bar too."

Glad you're coming Dr. Dave. As I'm sure you know, the Coniston is round the corner from that wonderful oxymoron ...the Idle W.M.C. -
I'm pretty happy with my LMII, it does a fine job but I'm very Shuttle curious - especially as I have a GB Neox 212. Anyone AB'd the two heads?
You can A/B with my Shuttle at the Bash, Al. I don't know if you'll find enough of a difference to switch though. Probably more useful to those looking at deciding between either candidate. -
Funnily enough, I like my Shuttle for its ability to be neutral, as a bass with good pre-amp & decent strings needs little to be added. And also, co-incidentally, if I was to change my head, Eden is the first range I'd go for! Shame if reliability was an issue. As weight isn't an issue, maybe a Warwick will suit? I had an X-treme 1000w head for a while. I didn't like its weight in the end.
I still don't see any pictures of the ACTUAL bass? Or is it just me?
Try that old CTRL+F5 business. There are three thumbnail pics in the edited OP.

I voted YES as I am a member of TB, but the poll would reveal a truer picture if it had some frequency of visit choices. I only visit TB every few months.
just checked out those pics...It looks amazing, shame it's a 5 stringer
...shame it's £3,810.72 + delivery & tax from the USA, more like. Just think what you could have if you had a budget of £4k to give Bernie, Jon or other top luther (...goes off in a dream)
Too much teasing here. Tell us a price mate, you must be aware of values as you bought them at some stage, or you could check the usual sources for estimates. I'm after a 112 or 115 and have cash waiting but am not going to do the 'sealed PM' route, which to my mind is a crap way of doing things and a level of doing business somewhere below ebay methods, which is saying something Chris
Hi Chris, I'm sorry if my attempt at 'tongue in cheek' humour failed. I said "Offers in a sealed PM are welcomed" thinking it was witty, but alas I realise now it could be taken literally. Sorry. The price I originally paid was probably well below their market value, hence I also asked for "...independent advice on resale value." because I was hoping someone could actually help. I now have had some ideas shared with me, and it seems £300 a cab is the ball park. Since my OP I have checked out what I'd need to replace them if stolen/destroyed. It looks like I'd need the insurance company to cough up £1200 including delivery. This has little bearing on my cabs resale value, though it gave me some kind of context. I didn't mean to tease. They are great cabs, I've just committed to a different kind of rig, and I'm not earning at the moment, so the need to realise their street value is very important to me right now. Phil
