1.
and they're here! http://basschat.co.uk/topic/252310-ncd-tks-1126-x2-dont-look-if-you-hate-red/
Looks great - obviously red is the fastest colour
2. Just a quick note to say that Tommy is expanding his production facility to accommodate increased demand so the workshop will be closed for a while from mid January. UK order deadline via BassGear for January completion is 17:00 on 30th December. Any orders placed after this time will be delivered mid to late March 2015. Edit - Last production slots already filled
3.
can't believe there are people on talkbass saying this looks good. It looks like a toilet seat lid!! no accounting for taste!
If that's a holly top then it'll look stunning in the flesh. The AJ series is an amazing instrument. I've only ever played one and it was stunning. Absolutely not my kind of bass by any stretch of the imagination but having been able to play one they immediately make 'sense'
4.
Incredible, but its a Fodera. This is how much they are, and the pricelist does show that these basses go for $20-35k new. What I find far more incredible is someone paid this, and is now selling it so quickly.
Totally agree. This sort of spec is very much a custom order - Fodera will do anything they can to make a customer happy (as you'd expect in this price range) and it's amazing the lengths they will go to post-sale to help someone if they aren't happy with the spec they ordered.
5. These are now, very, very, rare. Jim Bergantino only builds them from time to time in small batches. Last time I asked there were none planned in the production schedule.
6.
you got a great job Barrie.!!
It's not all it's cracked up to be, lol. Roger seems like a lovely guy though. I've got a huge respect for what he's achieved with a, relatively, single minded vision of how an instrument should be made and what it should sound like
7. I saw a cancelled order AJ go on sale not that long ago at about $25,000 and it went in under 24 hours. This one is pretty unique for various reasons and I'd guess it might have cost $35,000 new. However, those unique options could make it harder to sell than a 'regular' AJ with a Holly top.
8. TH500 works really well with the S112's. That's our standard demo rig in the shop
9.
I assume that's a glowing endorsement making a late bid for understatement of the year? 😄 I'm going to have to get over to Bass Gear in the new year.
We've just ordered an H115 for demo purposes. N.B. This cab only comes with the cloth front at the moment. Metal grille versions available later in the year.
10.
14kg?!? That's one kg more than my tiny MarkBass NY121. I'm looking forward to trying some of these out in the new year. Thinking of seeing if I can find cabs that will work for both upright and bass guitar to save space and rationalise.
It's even closer than that I think. 0.7KG
11.
They haven't automatically gone to people who've liked your page for some years now - perhaps to increase ad revenue but just as likely to cut down on clutter. For people to see more of your posts they need to be interacting with your page a regular basis. Take a look here for more on this. That article seems to to have been written a while ago, as Edgerank has been updated regularly to be far more sophisticated. I'd imagine the new changes are yet another update.
'Organic' reach from FaceBook dropped dramatically in 2014 as part of their drive to increase ad revenue. I manage our shop page that has over 7,000 likes, an artist page with about 1,750 and a fan page for the artist that has about 3,500. The number of people seeing any posts made on these three sites is way lower than the like count. On the 7,000 like page we range from 2,000 to as low as 150 for very similar posts. The artist page fluctuates by even more, can be as low as 50 but I've also seen it go over 6,000. I think it's a bit rubbish that liking a page doesn't mean you'll ever see a post from that page (which is increasingly common) but I can also understand that FB is a commercial entity and not a charitable organisation. Maybe they've just got the balance a bit wrong
12. USPS will insure up to $650 and only costs about $120 to ship to the UK. I've used them lots of times.
13. We tend not to stock Chromes because we've not had much demand for them, La Bella and Thomastik move a lot faster. However it only takes 24 hours to get them from D'Addario UK. They are a great supplier and turn stuff around really quickly so there's no excuse for a D'Addario stockist to say they are 'rare'!
14. He popped in to see us at BassGear last week, we could have asked him for you! What a nice chap he is He said he'll bring some basses in for us to sell on his behalf next year so we'll see if the one here is amongst those . . .
15. We've got Roger coming over to help man the BassGear stand at LBGS next year - really, really excited about this!
16. Jo was in the shop last week trying out some basses and a pre-amp and we had Phil Jones in at the same time. Phil went out of his way to say what a good player he thought Jo was and, apart from thank you very much, all Jo said was that he was using his 'shop chops'
17. Great review Steve! If you're playing this kind of rock then it's definitely worth playing with that drive control. Anything beyond about 15:00 gets a bit 'tizzy' but up around 12:00' to 14:00 sounds great. I think the S112's work really well with the TH500 and the vertical config helps massively in hearing yourself onstage. It's always nice when you can go out and listen to yourself and feel like you need to turn down rather than discovering your 'great' onstage sound is like mush at the back of the room!
18. I really need to go back to Nashville. Had a great time there a few years ago!
19. Is Grand Mater Flash the, slightly older, feminist version
20. Carvin have a standard option for PM configuration in either active or passive basses in the PB series. The P is located in the standard position and, by all accounts, it all works really well.
21. Yep - we had a few people who were completely smashed when we arrived to set up at 7! We had the classic "I'm a good singer, what songs do you sing, can I get up and sing some with you" line. . . Then one lone woman appeared who was absolutely wasted and danced on her own all evening. As soon as we finished she disappeared - thankfully
22. Gallien Kreuger MB112 can be found for £300 new. Very light and it's made in USA. It'll go to reasonable volumes but might struggle up,against a loud drummer.
23.
He's good, there's no doubt - but with all due respect... he should know the material, really!
Each one is played differently live and the versions we had were all edited from the originals plus he held a detailed coherent conversation simultaneously whilst a third person was continually adjusting a complex pre-amp to demonstrate some fairly massive tonal variation. We were also winding him up about not making mistakes and trying to bluff his way through songs at the same time as well Seriously - you had to be there to appreciate just how impressive this was.
24.
When will the CN210's be arriving?
Shipping first week of Feb, our order is placed
25.
Now that's a 'function band' I wouldn't mind being in. Very nice playing and singing by all. Which is the problem I have with covers bands... finding people who can play at that level! That's what I'd call 'pro playing'... and not a music stand in sight!!
Lots of the Groovesonix songs are mashed up with funky little twists to add things to the original arrangements Paul was in for a few hours today testing some new gear. Part of the test was setting something up alongside some music tracks. We put a Jamiroquai hits album on shuffle and he played along without ever looking at his fretboard whilst chatting away telling us that many of the versions were not how they now played them live, some were funked up, some longer, shorter, slower etc. He literally did not miss a single note on about 5 different songs back to back and some of them were pretty complex arrangements and he was comfortably nattering to us at the same time! Awesome stuff
