I think you need to see if you can try them really - the are going to be sound quite different (not least because of the speaker configuration). Prices on both are good compared to values over here. Watch out for condition of the cabs themselves. Early TC's mark & chip very easily, doesn't effect how they sound but they can get tatty looking very quickly. DB's can get damage to the cloth grille quite easily and the lighter colour means they'll show marks more easily if not looked after properly. Generally Aggies are going to be easier to sell on &, personally, the 2 x 112 cab configuration is my favourite for overall balance plus flexibility etc. However I've used a TC210 for a while & it's a nice cab, not tried a pair together but I think they'd sound really punchy if you like the 10" speaker sound

How good was that - really nice bass sound and the director seemed to really favour him ahead of Bluey (who hardly gets a look-in really, lol).

You see - this is why I love BC! I buy something vaguely bulky that's a 6 hour return trip & in less than 24 hours I get people happily volunteering to collect it for me & package it up to ship P.S. Jake - I didn't get your PM but Peety lives close by & has said he'll organise for me

I put a random bid in on Ebay thinking I'd never win but the market appears to be so dead that I managed to be successful and won a pair of, relatively small, Aguilar GS 12" cabs. Listing says personal collection only & I could drive up to get them but it's about 3 hours each way so a bit of a trek. I know it's a long shot but if anyone was close by and could both collect them & then package them up for me so i could pay for a courier then I'd be eternally grateful! Obviously I'd cover all costs & will be up in Manchester for Bass Day later in the year so would definitely have my beer buying wallet with me

Lovin' those drum clips! Listening to them right now

All I'm prepared to say is that if I sold all of my basses I could clear my mortgage - thinking about it this way makes me feel like they are an investment & not a cost, lol

Pedulla Buzz often comes up whenever people mention fretless basses - I've never played one but I hear nothing but good things about them

GIG REVIEW: Pete Academy & Nearly Dan @ Jazz Café last night
molan replied to xilddx's topic in General Discussion
I've seen the boys a few times (but not since i've been a BC'er). I'd totally endorese the view that they aren't a 'tribute' band - they just happen to play Steely Dan songs very, very well. -
Don't tease, just send me a PM with the stock list now!
NYC current stock is here: http://www.sadowsky.com/stock/nyc_b_is.html Metros (including lots of WL in plain colours) here: http://www.sadowsky.com/stock/metro_b_is.html You have to email them to get a price list though
The turquoise with blocks is too OTT for me, but the solid blue with the plain fretboard is fantastic. I'd love it.
My guess is that they'll ask $4,250 ish for it - unfortunately that's probably over £3,500 in the UK I'm sure Kevin is waiting for your email though

Last time I was there I paid for some work by card so thee can definitely accept remote payment. They also mentioned having sent a bass to Scandinavia so I'd assume they can ship stuff OK. If you're buying anything used then you'll need to phone in to check they still have it as there's sometimes a delay in updating the site (although this is much quicker these days).

I'm definitely going I've heard via one of the organisers that they are going to try and do something about the over-powering slap volume levels this year
That's all well and good, but they haven't made a lot of effort with the head design, have they? looks like a cheap'70s Woolies copy.
You should see it in the flesh - it's gorgeous! Headstock design is common to all AC's - something to do with resonance and reducing dead spots

Pair of 15"s to fit in an old Orange 2x15 Reflector cab?
molan replied to thisnameistaken's topic in Amps and Cabs
I have a pair of Celestion 15's from a Trace rig that I decided I was never going to use again. they came from cabs that also had 10's in & I 'robbed' those to use as replacement speakers in our stage monitors (where they sound great!). Can't remember offhand what models they are but the 10's are definitely 16 Ohms so I'm fairly certain the 15's will be as well. To the best of my knowledge they've only ever been gigged once! No idea if they are worth anything - maybe £50 the pair plus postage? -
So - bit of a tough call this one but I have too many basses and a, rather expensive, Fodera obsession that's haunting me at the moment! I bought this fairly recently from the original owner who specified it from new. It really is a stunning instrument and by far the nicest Sadowsky I've ever played (I've owned two other NYC basses). In fact a friend of mine who is a fabulous player and a full pro musician tried it and said it was not only the best Sadowsky he'd ever played but tat it was the best bass he'd tried this year - this is praise indeed as he plays a lot of basses, lol. I used it one gig and the sound engineer said it was the clearest most defined bass she'd ever heard in the venue. She's a very good bass player as well! For anyone who doesn't know about the Will Lee models there's a stack of information at the Sadowsky site: http://www.sadowsky.com/instruments/will_lee_model.html Also a review from Bass Player here: http://www.bassplayer.com/article/sadowsky...une-2010/115973 The two key differences are that it has a slightly narrower nut width than a regular Sadowsky J neck and, the big departure for Roger Sadowsky, it has a switchable, adjustable, mid boost. The neck width means it's super fast to play and the simple little mid-boost means you can really change the core sound at the flick of a switch. Like almost all current NYC basses it's feather light - really a perfect gigging bass because of this! The bass looks like it's more or less new with no visible marks that I can see. It comes with a Sadowsky hard/soft case plus all of the accessories like the little set-up kit, cleaning fluid, polishing cloth etc plus all the original paperwork. I think in general the Will Lee models retail for about £500 more than standard NYC basses & base price on one of these from the Sadowsky shop is now over $4,000 and I was quoted about $4,750 to replicate this particular version with the figured maple top and birdseye maple board (which is really very nice indeed!). With shipping and import duties that would make a new one of these, in this spec, close to £4,000 in the UK. Definitely not to be confused with the Metro models that have started to appear at around the £2,350 mark! Happy to ship anywhere really:) I have quite a few photos but these two from the previous owner are better quality
Sounds like fun! Next you will be looking for mid-60s Precison, Barrie lol!
Who needs one of those when you've got £3.5K worth of mid '80's 'hi-tech' Fodera with flashy EMG's and lots of on-board switching options plus a super modern digital amp with settings that allow you to sound just like a. . . '60's P through an Ampeg flip-top

Forgot to add - this is the one that finally did for my fingers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXUa6VVqq4c and this was my other favourite Fred Thomas song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pe1UOr___pg...feature=related
