1. I thought they were about £600 new in the UK. Plenty of Shermans to import from, but the rate is sh*te. £350 new seems good.
 2. Eee-ooo - think of your finish man!
 3. That's the 4th thing I want to do on the 4th of bloody April now. The babysitters 18th is looking like the best though. :brow: Good luck.
 4.
Pretty much all the SBs that I've played (quite a few, I was around when they first came out) have been extremely heavy.
Yup - I had an SB Elite I for 20-odd years. I had a couple of years off the bass a few years back and sold it when I took it up again as eventually the weight & lack of forearm contour did for me. I should have just put it on the wall though.
 5.
And to think that BGM slagged off the gb g spot in my basses. Twice.
Gimmick.
 6. You forgot Big One x2. Muhahahaha. :brow: I've gone deaf just thinking about it. Or is that blind? Or is that for another reason?
 7.
Don't listen to them, cream pick up covers are the devils work, next they will be telling you to get a tort scratch plate.
Don't listen to him, he plays a Jazz. Cream on. Nice bass.
 8.
I've actually had quite a few people say how lovely my Warwicks are. Sadly, they've all been male.
Nuff said.
 9. One of them core stability exercise balls and a Spector.
 10.
Basic problem is, try as I might, I cannot get on with the narrow J neck (doh) whereas I absolutely lurve the neck on my white 2009 MIA Precision.
41.8mm nuts rock.
 11.
I've been trying to adjust mine like that for a while now but the bridge on my Spector must hate me or something, because it's horrible to adjust. Once it's locked it stays put and works perfectly but I don't like the fact that all the saddles can move when you are adjusting one of them..... by the way, did you do it to the angle at which the headstock is angled back from the neck or the angle of the strings over the nut?
Headstock. It's all in here chaps. It took a little getting used to, but I love it now - more than a standard bridge.
 12. I believe random access media have seriously impacted the quality of tunes coming out. In the good old days of vinyl and even cassette, one tended to listen all the way to the end of a side or album and it had to stand on the merits of the weakest track. Now one merely skips the duffers or doesn't even load 'em onto the mp3 player. Possibly - discuss. EDIT: I am sure I'm as guilty as anyone else of doing it though.
 13.
Just getting this lot finished off - here's four of them looking ready to take on any gig! Alex
Sauce on a stick.
 14. I 'fixed' me mates Wal by changing the battery last year. He still buys me lager as thanks.
 15. Latest incarnation. Not using the MicroBass II much live - Spector > MultiComp > LH sounds just chipper to me - but it's nice to look at and cost more than the rest of the bloody things put together, so there it stays. TU-2 > BassBalls > Hyperdrive > MultiComp > MicroBass II The Hyperdrive & TU-2 will have to go though - they're not black & blue.
 16.
The year is 1986 and Trace Elliot is King but there is a combo that is both powerful and sweet sounding...... That combo was The Combo 300. £90, bargain.
Indeed. I flogged mine for £50 not working, the new owner gave it a kick and it now plays every week in a covers band, lives outside in a trailer when not in use and has never missed a beat. Nuff said.
 17.
...cassettes...
Pray tell oh wise and learned one, what are these 'cassettes' of which you speak with such reverance?
 18. Cracking amps these - everyone should own one once.
 19.
Thats a really good resource to check out. When you've checked it out, get the EBS one. It really is the business.
What he said.

 21.
The important questions (all of equal importance) are: 1. Does it suit my playing style? 2. Does it sound right? 3. Does it look right? 4. Can I afford it? I only keep instruments that I can answer yes to all 4. What's written on the headstock is completely irrelevant.
No, no, no. 1. Does it have a famous name on the headstock? 2. Does it have kudos in the bass playing community? 3. I agree on 3. 4. Can I get it in the house under the wife-dar?
 22. Labels are great, especially these.
