1. Replaced, all the genuine Warwick parts (bridge, tuners and knobs) cost me a little under 110 euro's. For that price I'm not going to bother refinishing, my refinish will never reach the same quality these Warwick parts have.
2. Modified this one Into this The Black Beast
3.
It's about time you made another
It's coming, I'm still planing and brooding on the next project.
4. There are supposed to be several good books on building guitars/basses. However, I've never read a single one of them, I'm coming from an background of engineering and metal manufacturing for a living, I just started building them and used my common sense and metal working skills and tools, and of course the understanding of the underlying technical principles of what makes a guitar work. EDIT: Here is a link to what some people are advising over on TalkBass.
5. Why bother with all sorts of difficult repair ideas, the crack is in a non structural part of the headstock, just let some super glue creep in making use of the capillary effect and you are already done. I've done this type of repair this way more than once, even on more structural parts!
6. Another new toy for blablas, I sure hope this will be the last one for a longer period time! Sandberg Basic 5 Ken Taylor zebra red.
7. New toy for blablas. Sandberg Basic 5 Ken Taylor zebra red.
8. Go for it! You won't be disappointed. The herd will feel almost identical in your hands but each has it's own distinctive sound which makes these fun little basses even more fun to play. If you buy them 'deco' almost any part you replace on them will be more expansive than the bass itself.
9. The building urge is here again. I'm going to endeavor on a double build and a new body design. This will be the mk6 series and will be inspired on the Ovation Deacon body shape. The plan is a lefty shortscale 6 string, basically a bass VI with a more bass player friendly string spacing, this one will be for myself. The second one will be a right-handed guitar for a family member who's building me a tube preamp. I still need to work out the design for them but I know where I'd like to go with it. Right now I'm making an inventory for the needed parts and will soon start ordering them. also bought the first chunks of wood for the fingerboards and bodies. Jatobe and chestnut.
10. Standard fret tangs are 0.6 mm thick so the the fret slots won't be that much bigger. One layer should be enough, you probably won't be able to get two layers in the fret slot anyway.
11. This one arrived at my doorstep today.
12. Guess what? Danelectro Longhorn. Nice little bass, excellent build quality.
13. I could.... but I don't need or want another four string P-bass (right now).
14.
Why is it more expensive than the right handed one? They're £18 or so aren't they?
Nine out of ten times that's the norm , we are already handicapped in our choice so if we finally find something we deserve to pay more for the exclusivity . The most common told argument coming from manufacturers is that it is more expansive to fabricate lefthanded instruments due to smaller production runs and mirrored machining, clamping and whatever else is involved in the process.
15. A compilation picture of all my DIY builds. Finally made one, wanting to that for weeks already.

DIY Porn!

Finally made an overview of all my DIY builds, been wanting to do this for weeks. They have been scaled fairly close in proportion to each other.
17. Sorry. Then again.... ever seen a lefty Kahuna deko come by? They are even more rare than hen's teeth.
18. And a few more Harley Benton's. B30 NT 'Deko', it needed some work but plays alright now. Kahuna CLU-Bass Eko BA4 The headstock broke off twice - thanks to my cats on both occasions - fixed it twice. I also made a height adjustable bridge.
19. The SBM4A is a passive pickup, doesn't need a battery.
20. I've build 4 to 12 string necks and never used them. Never had any problems with my necks or the feeling they are missing something. The only precaution I take is that on all my builds with six strings or more is using two dual action truss rods, everything under six has been made with one dual action rod. I've done one odd one out from this rule, a double course 8 string, did that one with one truss rod (no space for two rods) without carbon reinforcers. Up to now no problems whatsoever.
