SOLD Tone suck? You need this!!! MI Audio Boost N Buff
Damonjames posted a topic in Effects For Sale
Up for sale is this pedal I had on my larger pedal board. Up to 34db boost with and when it's in bypass mode it serves as I high quality buffer to help prevent against tone suck on long cable runs or lots of pedals. I had this in the middle of my board, as I had all true bypass pedals, meaning the pickups have to drive the whole signal chain without this pedal. It made a HUGE difference. Asking £40, shipping would be £5 to mAinland uk -

WITHDRAWN Gallien Krueger 1001RB-II £395
Damonjames replied to Davy's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
I don't think I'll ever own another brand of amp, GK stuff is great. Although my MB200 is great for a back up, and can still go loud, carting my rb1001ii about is worth the weight. The class D stuff Just doesn't have the bottom end punch, even at the same volume, it's weird! Good luck with the sale! -

Could someone explain DMX to me please?

Damonjames replied to 4-string-thing's topic in General Discussion
Simple answer as stated, you will need a controller. The 512 part of DMX, is there are 512 available channels in one data cable, so you need to set the par can to a designated channel number on a binary dip switch on the back of the light fitting. You can have multiple units on one channel if you want. Once you have them addressed, you use your lighting console to control the appropriate channels. The cool thing with DMX is you can control things other than lights, like a smoke machine for example of the console (provided it is a DMX enabled unit) and you just daisy chain the lights up Making them dead easy to setup and worries about mixing the channels up. Hope that helps? -
But on dehydration, little and often is the key. Don't wait until you get thirsty to have a drink, keep topped up before, durin, and after. It doesn't have to be plain water, all liquids count! But remember that alcohol and caffein will also make you pee more, so choose your beverage wisely.
Didn't Jason Newstead pass out in a similar fashion at one of his first Metallica gigs?
Haha, poor Jason. This was reported but he fiercely denies it, instead claimed it was his bass rig that failed. Poor guys was doomed from the start!

I am envious of you Blue. Not only have you made a career of being a musician, but you can remember a time (I mean this in a nice way!) when it all still lay ahead for music, while the Beatles set the stage from which to launch, there were EPIC bands that followed. My formative years (mid teens) saw the (in my humble opinion) pinnacle of the industry reached, with album sales and album production quality reaching never seen before levels (and shed loads of cash to go with it) I am referring to the early 90's. Since then we have seen a steady decline in both the quality and quantity of new artist come through, and just wonder what lays ahead for us? I know I can keep playing the stuff I know and love for my remaining years, but I would love to be stopped dead in my tracks by a new artist bringing something new to market.

Hi all, bought these for a project I am working on but they don't fit. These are the vintage 70's fender type with the big base plate. Tried to line them up to check the hole spacing and that's as far is I got, so they literally are brand new. £20 will include postage to mainland UK pics available on request
In the words of Anthony Wellington: represent this question as if you were talking about the English language. "If you're wanting to learn English, is learning to read a bad idea?"
Haha, the thought did occur lol. I have done some sight reading in the past, and I don't enjoy it, I feel like the music comes off the page and out of the amp, with no input from me (if that makes sense). Learning to read proficiently is something I want to do, but right now my biggest weekness is just jamming and improvising bass lines, so I wanted a system that was easy to read at a glance to get the feel for the song, and kind of just jam/improvise from there if that makes sense?

Anyone bought a new bass and found their fretting hand aches?

Damonjames replied to Lozz196's topic in Bass Guitars
Yes, had the exact same problem, but you may be unnerved to hear that the only way I got my hand to stop aching was to get rid of the bass! Having said that I have lady size hands and it was a mike didn't signature p with a cricket bat sized neck so fingers crossed!! Give it time and see will be the only way! Good luck! -
Great stuff, thanks for your help!!

Thanks for the responses guys!!! Yes, I understand basic rhythm notation, but I was more interested to see if anyone else had a method that had worked well for them. The chord chart is probably closest to what I need though. I want to start depping, so will need a book full of songs I can call on at short notice, and want to keep it as simple as possible, then just add in specific lines where needed to jog my memory.

Hi GassBass, when I saw this thread, I was going to say either a USA SUB5, or if you found someone willing to drop their pants, maybe a USA RAY5 or a Spector euro 5. Given you have had both and got rid, I don't know what it is that you are looking for!!!! Both the euro (with a third party pre or a trim pot tonepump) and the ray5 are exceptional basses, and would own both in a heartbeat. Personally know you have tried a few basses since, I'd revisit them before buying anything else in that price bracket.

If you could have been in one band in the last 15 years.....
Damonjames replied to merello's topic in General Discussion
Toss-up between Tool & Opeth. Neither really fit my playing style, but phenomenal music & stupendously good drummers. Metallica for the $$$$ is tempting but I'd end up slapping Lars twice. Once for being a rubbish drummer & once for being Lars... Jon.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! +1million! -
Have half the bands being mentioned done anything even vaguely interesting in the last 15 years? Or are you all just after an easy life churning out popular songs to an adoring but ageing audience? There's plenty of new bands from the last 15 years that I like but few with bassists. So, for me it would have to be the Birthday Massacre, or failing that I'm perfectly happy with the musical choices I've already made.
Does muse not count? -
Metallica did not, does not and will not ever have Stones money. blue
If 175m ain't enough, then nothing will be!!! (Taken from James Hetfield net worth, as opposed to 360 of Mick Jagger) Metallica also have 20 years worth of music work and other investing to do before you can draw an accurate comparison Rob trujillo's measly net worth of 15m will do this little metal head anytime!!! -
Hi guys n gals, just a question regarding notation, I can't read (yet, it's doe things hope to master one day) but wondered if there was a general way of notation, besides tab. I just need a simple method that can be easily read on a poorly lit stage that could show the chord progression and rhythm in a quick and easy way? I know I'm asking a lot! I just remember reading that rob Trujillo has a version of notation that is similar to Pino Palladino's but neither of which I can find. Any advice appreciated!
