  1. ....... The keyboards I met is interested in a Blues and Rock Band...... Almost there now with a full Band...... We are going to jam 6 songs in a week or so..... Gary Moore, SRV, ... And a couple of mine Hey Joe by Hendrix I started on Saturday and Soul Man by Sam and Dave I learned for the Mods. It's a big step up and a challenge already but it looks like its going in the right direction..... Singer next and all set. Got a studio to practice in and this time guys who know what they are doing :-). Best thing I ever did was getting off the last train.
  2. Loved Chic back in the day. Fond memories of working in a Langland Beach Bar Disco behind the bar. Free beer, pay, ladies all to the Chic c'est Chic album :-). I'm going to buy it again and start playing some :-)
  3. I was more interested in GAS for the Jazz Bass on Jools :-) Saw Noel's Band on TV a few months back and liked them :-)
  4. Drummer on board... this train is on time :-)
  5. The LoMenzo is a hoot :-D Got to get myself a pedal board.
  6. Found a local guitarist interested in forming a blues band on Join My Band so way to go :-)
  7. Hi Yolanda Sorry I missed watching you at the London Bass Show. I had been in masterclasses and watching the stage all day and unfortunately had to miss Guy's masterclass that I really wanted to see... to pop out and try a G & L L2500 going cheap. I was playing it on another adjoining stand when you fired up. I was gutted to miss you but I did buy a great Bass although I couldn't hear it much Here she is looking sexy at the Travelodge later Regards, Paul
  8. My Mod "Band" folded today after me joining last October. Learned maybe 15 of the set list to original recordings but only had 3 band practices in that time on maybe the same 3/4 of the set list. No singer until a guy auditioned last month. Thought it might go somewhere ..and it did.. straight in the bin. My first Band experience and I'm trying to take the good things from it that I learned a set list, could play in time to the original scores, enjoyed locking in with the drummer and enjoyed playing along to a singer, had ample time to learn a set list.... and try to leave behind the poor stuff... not much Band practice, no singer, an assxxxx of a guitard, no say in the Band name or the set list and not up to gig standard after all that time. Looking forward and taking the good stuff with me..... parking the poor stuff up the Mod's ass Should have known really..Mods and Rockers don't mix
  9. TRAIN CRASH :-D. I learned a few more songs off the new set list and after I posted this thread, the next rehearsal was supposed to be last night. I told them at the beginning of the week I couldn't go as I've got a nasty virus. Just got an email from the drummer that the rehearsal didn't go ahead .... The keyboards didn't turn up and the singer was late so they say that they've knocked the project of the head. Looking for a proper project now but I'll be contacting the singer and keyboards :-) It certainly was an experience and my first experience of a Band. Can't imagine it could get any worse but I guess it probably could :-D
  10. I could tell you... But then I'd have to kill you :-D
  11. Gary..theres a G & L L2500 for sale , you had GAS for one...its posted up today
  12. I've got one... its a great bass and well worth the money ... they retail for about £750... Gary at the Welsh Bass Bash fancies one so I'll try and post there....
  13. I take a look occasionally... the books say use raking or alternative fingers so I tend to take a look now and again, and guess what I'm doing a mix of both but normally it works out ok
  14. I tried it against a Gibson Midtown yesterday in PMT Bristol... preferred the Gibson but probably get the Warwick .. 50/50
  15. I've got the Ampkit app on my iPad and I've bought the Ashdown amp. I've also put my Band set list in the backing tracks. If I get the Interface, do you think I'll be able to plug my bass in, choose a set list piece and play along, record, save and post etc? Useful set up, do you think? Thought it might be useful to take on holiday with a short scale bass :-)
  16. I'm in the Smoke next week and Wunjo tell me they have one in the window so I'm telling you all now so that it's gone before I can get my card out :-D
  17. Oooooo. Thanks for that. Good price. I'll keep it in mind but I fancy the flame VSB :-)
  18. I fancied the 34 and I'm going to take a look at one at Wunjo in London in a couple of weeks but more than likely I'm going to get a Warwick pro star bass instead.... Check it out at Thomann for £910 :-)
  19. Started to plan a future coup :-D Slowly slowly catchee monkey :-) So happens singer, keyboards and bass like the same genres of music ... Hmmm handy that :-D ...shame its " not our sound " for the gitard and drums :-D

  22. I'm going to find somewhere to slot it in too :-)
  23. I've just got the 5 string and love it :-)
  24. I like an open string if I can fret a note immediately after on the same string to stop it ringing but I do and try stopping an open note with either hand depending. What gets me is an open note on one string followed by an open on another string giving 2 open strings to stop :-( most of the time I just carry on as best I can. It depends on the speed of the song and if there are any rests giving you time to stop it. Mind you I did buy a 5 string so I could get a low E fretted note :-D
