1.
I can play a lot of different instruments, but I've never got anywhere with drums. It requires the kind of physical co-ordination of all 4 limbs that you've either got, or you haven't!
I've had a similar experience, play quite a few things but with drumming it is so hard to get your feet working properly. But I say go for it! we all have a different amount of natural talent at varied things, maybe it's one of your best.
2. jazzyvee: lovely looking guitar you have there!
3. I have to admit that I'm a big fan of a tele shape as well. I have an awesome custom 'tele' that I put together a couple of years ago, it has a trem (!) and midi, so nothing to do with a real tele, but it's a great shape.
4. Well you sure found your way around that well! I love that scalar bit across the strings. Judging from that vid I think you should get your own 7 string.
5. This sounds great, can we see some in progress pix now?
6. I like slap and I like to hear it, but Dood hit the nail on the head, as a reviewer you have a job to do.
7. I can't cope with the orangeness of orange amps.
8. Ex-Chapman stick player here, I used to have two! I gave up about 5 years ago as I was just struggling with them too much. I still have the best one, and I don't think I'll ever part with it. It looks pretty cool as I had SIMS put some LEDs on it years ago (for practical reasons - dark fret markers on Paduak is not the best combo}.
9.
There's usually loads of these on eBay, some loaded some just the bare body. There's also occasionally some bits on here. Having one made will be costly wherever you go.
I have NEVER seen a 5 string jazz body on eBay!
10. My no 1 jazz 5 string bass is amazing, the most playable bass ever - I don't like the sunburst finish though. I am considering switching to 4 strings and getting a bass with a more modern sound, but the jazz will be staying.
11. What an awesome gig! I just can't get enough of the John Mayer trio.
12. A curious instrument indeed. I don't suppose I would want one but it would be interesting to try.
13. +1 to Music Radar. Mind you, the classifieds are so well used that you drop off the front page very fast!
14. Just came across this by accident on YouTube. What a crazy bass.
15. Very nice indeed and lovely solo at the end. I think that you should work on better sound quality though. I assume this was mic only. I just love funky bass!
16. Just bought James Durands Bass-tastic album off of iTunes. I absolutely bl**dy love it! I feel so inspired to really get back into bass after a couple of years in the doldrums. I love his whole slapping style, and for me, he really uses it to drive the songs rather than being just a bit of a 'gimmick style' in the way that some people seem to treat slapping. I can't remember when I last enjoyed an album this much. James is a member here, but I can't remember his forum name ....
17. I'm lo-fi. I'm monotypical. Actually I'm a multi instrumentalist so I guess that makes us shizophrenic.
18. I love status basses and that is an absolute beauty, probably the most desirable one I have ever seen! Sure with I had the dosh for that!
19. Oooh! That's a lovely bass. To bad I have my eye on something else at the moment.
20. If I wasn't saving for something else I'd have been VERY tempted by that. Someone needs to buy it before I come back to the thread!!
21. Yeah, big fusion fan. One of my favourite bands of the genre is Chris Poland's 'Ohm". They are just a 3 piece, so lots of lovely bass right up in the mix. Song here, but no 'video' content:
22. I agree that it is all good, with the free bump + nice comments etc. The flip side is that it's really depressing when you post a for sale thread on a forum and it sinks like a stone with nary a single comment other than your occasional desperate bumps.
23. I feel a bit thick for even asking this! My sons friend has taken up bass and got an Ibanez BTB off of eBay. Somehow he bust the low E string (can't imagine how???). Anyway, he got a cheapo spare from eBay but it was quite a bit too long. He stuck it on anyway and wound on a ton of 'thick' string onto the machinehead rather than the taper, and to cut a long story short, it not only bust the top of the tuning peg, but also the internal gubbins! So, I'm getting a new machinehead for him, but the string was too long? would I need to order a specific length?
24. Neither of those seemed ideal, but I have found that Thomann will sell single tuners - wrong colour but it will have to do!
