Does having given up because it's not a song I like count as being defeated? In that case Gold Dust Woman by Fleetwood Mac. I'm sure I could learn to play it if I absolutely had to, but I found it incredibly meh as a song.

Take aways from last nights rehearsal: 1. I really like playing Princess of The Streets, it's, I think, my current favourite song to play. 2. I'm an idiot with no ability to say no. I've ended up having to sing No More Heroes and Peaches. I can't hold a tune, I have no technique and end up really hoarse when I try to sing, but it's a new challenge either way These are they BTW https://www.youtube.com/@MrPardoned, I'm not on any of the videos, I've only been with them since the beginning of Feb

Well, the suggestions from the machine of SVT into a Bass Drv (Sansamp clone) and then into my own GK head sounded bloody awful TBH! I ended up with this: DarkPre: Gain: 75 Bass: 50 Mid: 70 Treble: 55 Level: 55 Graphic EQ: Boost: 800 Hz to 1 kHz Cut: 200 Hz Boost: 3 kHz Which may not be exactly accurate, but it sounds really nice. On the off chance we record anything I'll post it up.

I used MS CoPilot because it's part of our 365 subscription! But yes, I just asked it. Q and A in full. What's the best settings on a Zoom B3n to get JJ Burnel's bass tone, specifically from the first three albums Copilot said: Copilot To emulate JJ Burnel's iconic bass tone from The Stranglers' first three albums using a Zoom B3n, you'll want to focus on a few key elements: Bass Guitar and Playing Style Bass: JJ Burnel primarily used a Fender Precision Bass. Pick: Use a pick to get that aggressive attack. Action: Set the action low to get more string noise and growl. Zoom B3n Settings Amp Model: Choose a model that emulates a vintage tube amp, such as the "SVT" or "Bassman" models. Distortion: Use a distortion effect like "BassDrive" or "SansAmp" to add grit. Set the gain high but keep the level balanced. EQ: Bass: Cut the bass slightly to avoid muddiness. Midrange: Boost the midrange to emphasize the growl and punch. Treble: Keep the treble moderate to retain clarity without harshness. Compressor: Use a compressor to tighten the sound. Settings like threshold at -25, ratio at 3 or 4, gain at 6, and hard knee can help Cabinet Simulation: Use a cabinet sim that emulates a 4x10 or 8x10 setup for a fuller sound. Example Patch Effect 1: SVT Amp Model Gain: 70 Bass: 45 Mid: 65 Treble: 50 Effect 2: BassDrive Distortion Drive: 75 Level: 50 Blend: 60 Effect 3: Compressor Threshold: -25 Ratio: 4 Gain: 6 Knee: Hard Additional Tips Experiment with the EQ settings to match your specific bass and playing style. Adjust the distortion level to find the sweet spot between grit and clarity. Use the Zoom B3n's noise reduction feature to cut unwanted noise during pauses I am not saying it'll be right out of the box, nor even if it's going to not be a total mush, but it could be ballpark at the least. I was interested to see what happened more than anything else.

I asked a Machine Learning Algorithm (Commonly, but incorrectly, called AI) to suggest a patch to emulate JJB's sound on Rattus Norwegicus and this is what it came up with... I have no idea if it sounds any good, I'll find out this evening. Example Patch Effect 1: SVT Amp Model Gain: 70 Bass: 45 Mid: 65 Treble: 50 Effect 2: BassDrive Distortion Drive: 75 Level: 50 Blend: 60 Effect 3: Compressor Threshold: -25 Ratio: 4 Gain: 6 Knee: Hard

Ha! I'm only up to No. 7 😉 It's been a lot of fun though to do so far.

They want me to sing now, the fools. I can only just play most of the notes in mostly the right order, I can't remember the words as well. Hanging Around is a bugger to play consistently, I keep missing the octave. Sample set list for your edification: 1. Mach Dich Lieber Anders Tot 2. Sometimes 3. Princess 4. Hanging Around 5. Better Change 6. Golden Brown 7. No More Heroes 8. Duchess 9. London Lady 10. Get A Grip 11. Goodbye Toulouse 12. Nice 'n' Sleazy 13. Peaches 14. Ugly 15. Walk On By 16. We Are The Firef***er

Westone "The Rail" Bass - A down to earth question
Si600 replied to rwillett's topic in Bass Guitars
Pickup earth by spring loaded ball bearing? -
A choice of 2 - which one will you buy ?
Si600 replied to edstraker123's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
If you did buy both, do you expect to get two objects? I'm assuming the joke being that it's the same thing listed twice. -
Also because if you plug it into a powered mixer you have the possibility of sticking your finger into a 48v live socket at the other end. Probably won't do any harm but it would make your fingertip tingle 😉

I have a NUX B-2 bug set that has started to whine in the background, any ideas? It really doesn't like my active J-Bass, so I don't use it! My normal bass is a normal P-Bass but could I have broken the NUX by using it with the J-Bass? Or is it just too old to bother clinging on to? It's 2.4Ghz IIRC I do have a Line6 G30 that I could go back to, but I like the convenience of the bug setup and the no need to have something stuck to my board.

I need some really flat right angle jack suggestions, an I mean really flat, like 5 to 6mm overall height flat, if such things exist.

Hanging Around, Sometimes, No More Heroes, Princess of the Streets, Golden Brown, Something Better Change and for a bit of a change, Mach dich lieber anders tot.

I'm using a TC Electronics Nova Dynamics if that's any help. No longer manufactured unfortunately, but worth looking for SH if you can. IMHO anyway.

I think we killed it, at least, it's not there anymore.

When did Fender start doing the big under scratchplate routing? Just thinking it may not be a genuine Fender body given the lack of routing. But I'm not a Fender expert by any stretch.

No, I am not buying @Dannygno123's P-Bass to fit in with the look.

I appear to have just joined a Stranglers "Tribute" band.... I was a bit indifferent to the idea initially tbh. I'm aware of them but just the odd song on compilation albums or playlists, but then I started trying to learn the lines. It's given me a whole new appreciation for them and JJ. Are there any decent tutorial/score resources out there for the bass lines? I'm not terribly good with ear learning from record and I like to have something to read along to as I go, in the early stages a least.

Princess of the Streets - Stranglers. It's not terribly complicated and the little runs in it are fun, but it's such a bass driven song there's nowhere to hide if when you fluff it.
