1. There may also be people who will listen to the tracks but don't see music as a competition and don't wish or see the need to favour one piece of music over another. That's certainly my position, to an extent.
2.
pubs, village shops, high street shops, milkmen, vinyl records . . . .
That was quite a weekend, let me tell you.
3. Clearly, everyone wants dancing girls. And while we're at it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XNvZn-ww-Lg
4.
sometimes you sell to some one a bit dodgy on ebay and they have damaged the goods and ask for a refund or say it was never posted luckily this has not happened to me and I hope it does not but I know of a few people on here who have been shafted like that not good
Yep, on eBay it's caveat venditor every time.
5. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 1 post to view.
6. That sounds the wrong way round to what I meant. I have this thing for sale. I really don't want to post it, so collection only please. What? You'd like to buy it but you live far away? Well, I'd really rather not post it. I don't want the responsibility; it's too much hassle, things can go wrong. What? You'd still like me to post it? Well I don't want to, but if you're willing to accept it if something goes wrong or it gets broken, then fair enough I suppose. Caveat emptor and all that. A more conscientious seller wouldn't even entertain that conversation, they'd just flat-out not post it. That was my point. Sort of.
7. You could argue that it's actually the most conscientious sellers who refuse to risk things getting damaged in the post.
8. How easy do you reckon it would be to get that decal to come off? And can you measure the heel?
9. ka-'hon /ka/ as in cat /hon/ as in Honiton Stress on the /hon/ And yes it has many meanings but here just means big box.
10. Cabasas and shekeres are similar but not the same. The Gil Scott Heron clip featured a big ol' shekere.
11. Right, yes, I knew that, but why call it tracking instead of recording? There isn't any difference, that I can see.
12. Why is recording an instrument sometimes called tracking?
13. Have any of you synthy people come across this before: http://www.ploytec.com/pl2/ Tiny little thing, powered by midi, how crazy is that? I'm thinking about buying the kit version: https://www.usb-audio.com/pl2_assembly_kit/ (I still need to learn to solder.)
14.
Yes, I've seen those too. The Horniman Museum has a truly fantastic collection of instruments.
It is a bonkers old place. The cathedral of death on the main floor with Blobby the Massive Crap Walrus in the middle, the incredible music room, the unusual ethnographic bit, it's all a bit mad.
15. I'm sure I've seen old stringed instruments (as in ones from the 18th century) in the Horniman Museum that used a similar technique to play the strings.
16. For what it's worth (not much, I expect): http://www.expertreviews.co.uk/software/1288996/photobox
17. What's the attraction of those big black squares rather than normal dots?
18. For professional-quality prints, I use www.peak-imaging.com. For high-street printing, Snappy Snaps is often said to be the best and most 'professional', despite the name.
19. Wow, yeah, it just arrived and I've been playing about with it on a synth arpeggio. Really, really, really nice.
20. It turns out I was using the wrong power supply, that was all. Yes it certainly does do that squidgy and yummy compression; really nice. Speaking of really nice, on a drunken whim I bought an FMR RNC on eBay last night, for some reason. Which means I now have four compressors (Behringer Composer, Focusrite Penta, Joemeek VC3Q, FMR RNC), none of which I particularly need, but seem to enjoy owning. I should probably sell one or two of them. Or! Find a use for them. I've been buying microphones as well.
21. Hang on, aren't narrower strings less compliant?
