1.
i wonder why there is no humbucker jazz..?
The new Modern Player series Jazz is twin humbucker. And (pedantically ) the Noiseless Jazz pick ups are humbuckers.
 2.
they seem to cater for most pickup choices (bar a H model) etc.. s
Although they did do the Big Block Prescision which was a single humbucker model.
 3. I like the choices..it gives me excuses to buy more. Seriously though,I use Fenders most of the time and I like having the choice of Jazz,Precision, active, passive, five string, short scale, etc.
 4.
I suppose it depends who its aimed at if marketed, regardless if its labelled Db or C# it shows the user what notes to hit on the fret board, but it would make sense to get it "exam" correct I guess
I don't really think it matters who it's aimed at really or about being 'exam correct'-it's just that I think that if you are going to make an app to help musicians, then the theory should be correct. There is enough bad information about.
 5.
Fella, you are comparing apples with carpet tiles. All these artists are wholly different from eachother. You might aswell have chucked Kate Bush and Nina Simone in there too.
Not really, they're all 'pop' singers of various quality.
 6.
who is the bass player concerned on here?
Phil Simmonds. Just out of interest though-the guys in the video are different from the guys who I've usually seen her with. I'm guessing that's her US band. I've got to be honest,I'm pretty impartial about Jessie J. I think she's better than your Winehouses and Adeles, but not as good as your Gagas and Aguileras. I wouldn't but her album, but I won't turn the radio off either.
 7. I love taking lessons.Even though I take them really sporadically,I can get enough material and ideas to study for months.
 8. I'm digging the twin humbucker Jazz........a five string version would be nice too. They are a good price-I can see another Fender joining the collection (or two-the Jaguar looks cool too)
 9.
We did a headline slot at one gig in Manchester in August and we weren't on stage until 24:15
24:15??
 10.
But E# and Fb don't exist?? They are notes in there own right..
They do exist in certain key signatures. E# exists in the keys of F# major and C# major, while Fb can be found in the key of Cb (and their relative minors).
 11. I really want one of those Little Phatty synths
 12. It'll most likely be a one bar count in with whatever instrument playing the pick-up on the 'and' of 3 of that bar. If it was a faster tempo you may get 1...2...1,2,3(+4). Anyway, you'll hear the pick-up being played,so you'll know where you are and be straight in on 1.
 13.
C# - ugh , Db is surely preferable, personally I cant be doing with E#/Fb B#/Cb note naming - an F is an F and I cant bring myself to think of it as "some kind of an E"... ever. Is a bit like labelling first gear on a gearbox "neutral sharp" . A purely personal rant you understand .
Db might be preferable to C#,but you get charts written both ways,so you should know how it works and try to comfortable with seeing notes like E# and Fb. I was playing a chart only yesterday which was written in six flats ( Gb major) and then you have to a read C as Cb.
 14.
ive never understood why some people prefer b rather than # and visa versa, is there a right or wrong way?
It depends on the key. For example,G has one sharp (G,A,B,C,D,E,F#),and F has one flat (F,G,A,Bb,C,D,E) Sharp keys are-G, D, A, E, B, F#, C# Flat keys are- F, Bb, Eb, Ab, Db, Gb, Cb C major obviously has no sharps or flats. Each scale has each letter between A-G appearing once in some form,so in the key of C# (as an extreme example) you would have the notes C#,D#,E#,F#,G#,A#,B#.
 15. Quick one..... I've finally looked at the chart in the OP,and the part for the key of F is wrong. It's written as F,G,A,A#,C,D,E. It should be F,G,A,Bb,C,D,E. Bb not A#. There are also similar mistakes in the keys of A#,C#,D#,F# and G#. Overall, good effort but must try harder, especially as it says that it's good for general theory practice...there are too many mistakes.
 16. You don't need a 7 string (or bass) specific chord and scale book. If you learn the notes involved, the information is easily applied to the instrument. I understand the above point about shapes, but it is too easy to learn a pattern alone without actually understanding what you are playing-especially if you are 'learning' via a bass book (which would probably include tablature, especially if it was aimed at a specific number of strings). It's not difficult to learn the notes of a C major chord (for example)and play it all over the fingerboard.
 17.
I can't see what the difference is?? If you can play as well from a chart as from memory then what on earth is wrong with having a chart there?
This. I don't think it's a big deal, especially as people are saying how great the music is. Also, just slightly off-what makes it different for rhythm section players than horn players?
 18.
For me there is integrity involved. Yes, even in a covers band. Maybe thats where I differ from "most members here" and yourself. I am maybe old fashioned but firmly believe that if we are going to do something we should do it as well as possible.
I agree...but, you'll get more respect if you do the job as well as possible and are accommodating towards the venue. Just because you might have to bring the volume down doesn't mean that you can't kick the arse out of it. I would automatically lose a lot of respect for a band if they left in the interval rather than accommodate the bosses request as best as they can.
 19.
I listened to that Wyntn Marsalis interview on Jamie Cullem's Radio 2 programme last Tuesday and he said something that strucka chord. HE was talking about his father showing him the 'joy of seriousness', the idea that taking something seriously and commiting to and investing in it brings its own pleasure, its own fun. A lot of people here talk about ;its supposed to be fun'. Well, I agree and working hard at this stuff is the best fun .
I agree,I love working on something new, struggling a bit,and then working harder until I get it. It's immensely satisfying. I've just bought the new Miles Davis Quintet live in Europe box set. There is some great stuff happening there as you'd expect from that band.
 20.
Mark White (Spin Doctors) southpaw slapper.
I can't believe I forgot about Mark. I saw the Spin Doctors in Manchester a couple of months ago and stood right in front of Mark White with his pink Jazz Bass....he's ridiculously good both musically and technically(he's very Wooten-like). Nice guy too.
 21. The Washburn Stuart Hamm bass has a humbucker in the middle and a jazz pickup at the bridge
 22.
William Murderface (in actual fact the awesomely awesome Bryan Beller)
Although he's the live bass player, Bryan only did a couple of tracks on the second album. Most of the tracks are played by the Brendan Small, who does the shows music. Edit...Bryan is one of my favourite players since hearing him with Keneally and Z.
 23.
Doug Lunn
Good call...He played some great stuff on the first couple of Mike Keneally albums. Dave Carpenter was an absolute monster on electric and upright. Chuck Domanico played on thousands of sessions. Gary King's work with Bob James and many others. Rick Laird was a great straight ahead jazz player on upright before he joined Mahavishnu Orchestra. Andy West with the Dixie Dregs and The Mistakes The great Oscar Pettiford never gets a mention. Lincoln Goines only ever gets mentioned with regards to the book 'Funkifying the Clave'. Scott Ambush from Spyro Gyra and Kim Stone from The Rippingtons tend to get overlooked a lot. None of the great Nashville guys get mentioned....players like Glenn Worf,Mike Brignardello, Dave Pomeroy,David Hungate, Bob Moore,Roy Huskey Jr.,Michael Rhodes. There are loads of great players there. There are tons of great players that rarely or never get talked about.,
 24. The ones that I've tried haven't been very good at tracking the E and B strings. I don't know if the fancy expensive ones are any better.
 25. In ear monitors?
