1. I fancied a 5 stringer too so I have recently purchased a “Sterling by Music Man Sub Ray 5” from Thomann for less than £300. Straight out the the box it was pretty amazing but, as I prefer flat wounds, I restrung it with Thomastics (expensive but worth it) and then re set it up. All I can say it is amazing. It haves a great range on tones/sounds from picking happy slappy to low low grunty. It is much easier to play up the top end of the neck than my Fenders. I can't put it down. The build quality is also top notch with flawless construction and a great finish The only slight negative is that it is a bit neck heavy so you can't just let it hang from a strap round your neck, you need to support the neck with your left hand. Having said that, it is not particullarly heavy. Overall, it is exceptionally good value for money and I'd say musically on a par with instruments costing up to ten times as much.
 2.
Can anybody help?In the Squeeze song, Up the Junction, what is the chord thats played on the word 'incubator'?Sounds like it should be B minor, but there's something different about it.All the other chords at that point in the other verses are deffo B minor.Any tabs I've checked also say B minor, but I maintain theres something odd about the Incubator one.Does anybody agree,or am I just going mental?
Yes. It is G#minor7. Cheers
 3.
I think it's a great idea but it could be improved IMHO very easily. Make the diagram more like the average bass neck by missing out most of the fret numbers and highlighting the "dotted" frets ie 5th, 7th, 9th, 12th, 15th etc.
Thanks for the suggestions, I'll take them on board.
 4.
You may want to check out some of the notes. For example in the key of B flat minor you have C# as the 3rd and it should be a D flat. I noticed things like this a few times.
Wow, this has been an education !!! So sharps and flats are not the same. I've now adjusted the app to change the display of sharps / flats according to key. I am not sure if I have got them all right though as I cannot find a definition for all scales for all keys.

I could easily show the name of both notes that share the same fret position - would this help?
 6.
Keys are a good idea. Sharps and flats are the real crap idea - I mean naming the notes according to one arbitrary key and having two names for the same note is obviously insane so ideally we would dispense with accidentals and have a have a 12 note system, A B C D E F G H I J K. We would also get rid of this whole key signature nonsense and have a staff line for every note. Jobs a good'un
Yep, sharps and flats are a strange concept to the modern mind. I had great "fun" converting them to a numeric matrix so my app can work out relative offsets then cover back to display the notes....sorry boring detail. But, have you ever tried playing 12 notes with one semitone intervals - sounds crap! But there is something magic about scales with sharps and flats. Is it the illogicality that actinly makes it good music?
 7.
Idiot friendly.............i undrestand it,thanks. I think it would be better if there was a full fretboard notation on show at the same time though.
OK, I've adjusted it to show all notation greyed out. Thanks for the feedback Cheers
 8. I have it in mind to do an iPhone and iPad app version if there is sufficient demand.
 9. I went to Denmark St last week. I found a lot to look at and the staff in the stores I went in were very helpful and happy for me to try even though I did not want to buy.
 10. Hi, I have created a little web app that shows a bass fretboard diagram of many popular chords. Please have a look at http://www.ojwethorns.co.uk/bassnotes/BassNotes.php and let me know what you think. Cheers
