1. i would go for secondhand mag gear.either a combo or amp +cab.lots about at the moment and can be had on your budget.you can also add an extension cab later if need be.(lots of them about to)
  2. Why not get two 210 cabs and then you don't have to lug around a 4x10 cab to smaller gigs and you have the benefit of getting the full 4 ohm power of your amp head when you use both?
+1.my abm 2x10 is up for sale at the moment on here and flea bay with a bargain starting price
  3.
I think the Ashdown ABM 4 x 10 only comes as 8 ohms.
they did a 4ohm 4x10 but stopped making them for some reason,so there are some about somewhere.i dont find mine too much trouble to lift about but yea it could be lighter.
  4. i stood my abm 2x10 on end on top of an old 1x15 cab and it sounded better than the conventional way.my 2x10 is the new model with black square handles.so dont now if a older one could be stacked on end.i would say that imho a 2x10 abm cab will not be enough on its own, certainly not for me anyway.have you seen the deal at soundslive?mag 600w amp with ashdown classic 2x10 500w neo cab £700.bigger cab with neo drivers that should be enough on its own.i am thinking of getting the classic 2x10 to go with my abm head so im hoping it will do the job!

  7. i had to play through a behringer at a charity gig once and it was the biggest pile of c**p i have ever heard or seen!stay well away
  8.
ABM would be nice... what are they going for second hand at the moment?
abm 4x10 you can get for £200 it might be a couple of years old though.there is a abm 8x10 on the bay at the moment.dont know how easy they are to get about, just need casters and a lifting bar i guess.forgot to say there are some abm 4x10's for sale on here,as well as my 2x10
  9.
I'm thinking of picking up some new cabs, as I'm struggling to hear myself at practice with just a 4ohm 2x10 on the floor. After spending the last few years with my small but loud GK Neo 212, I'm thinking since I need to cut costs, I may as well forget any ideas I have about going lightweight, and enjoy having a decent size stack behind me before I can afford to go small and lightweight again next year. I've had a look around, but there are just too many options, so wondering what other BCers have done to get a decent stack on a budget. My amp is 500w at 4ohm - the most sensible option would be a 4x10 and 2x10 (300w each), but I could go for something bigger and keep my current 2x10 if needed. My amp only has one speak-on out, so the cabs would need to have input and output. These are what I've found. Cheapest option seems to be the MAG 810, but would this be too big to handle by myself? At gigs it would be fine, but getting it back into the house on my own may be an issue? I've never seen one in the flesh. The ABM looked pretty small for an 8x10 last time I saw one though? Ashdown MAG 810 Ashdown MAG210 and MAG410 GK Backline 2x10 & 4x10 Warwick 610 Pro Laney Richter 4x10 x 2 Hartke VX 4x10 & 2x10 Peavey TVX 210 + 410 Any experiences or other suggestions? Obviously it doesn't have to be new, I'd prefer second hand, much cheaper, but I'd like matching cabs.
plenty of cheap cabs around at the moment.ive used a abm 2x10 with the 4x10 abm and to me it didnt sound much different or louder.wouldnt a 600w 4x10 be loud enough?if not get two
  10.
Any of the Ashdown Superfly cabs.
+1
  11.
They're also pretty much flat and 'uncoloured' too.
i thought they were custard coloured sorry could'nt resist
  12.
I'm sure that the crunch is one of the reasons why things aren't sellig as well as they are, but do you think there may be more movement there if more people were willing to use couriers? I have been looking at amps recently and have seen some bargains that I would have gone for but they are all pickup only - no post. Of the four Hartke 15s I saw only one was willing to send it.
+1.if you live outside the big citys then a courier option is a must.although it has not helped me trying to sell my jazz
  13.
Well I got the amp I wanted (Ashdown 410 combo and 115 ext. cab), all for £280. It woulda cost me £600+ new. Now I'm not complaining, but you gotta admit that's a hell of a deal.
nice one!
I hear a lot of people say they have to tweak their amps to venues - I must be the odd one out. I run the ashdown combo totally flat, gain up about 3/4, drive at 1/2, volume to taste. That's it.
perhaps i should try that

    Ashdown

i use a abm 500w 11 amp with a abm 4x10 cab and never had any problems.must admit that i do have to play around with the amp to get the sound im after.no two venues are the same especially pubs so it might take more tweaking in one than the other.i like the ashdown sound, some hate it but thats why there is loads of choice out there.they are not a plug in and play amp,as i have said a bit of tweaking is needed to get the sound youre after but imo its well worth it.only thing i would change is to get a lighter cab, still would be ashdown though!
  17. think it will be out of my price range for a while!good luck to them at least they are not scared of bringing out new models.not bad for a british company!
  18. time for a bump!only looking at p-bass type trades at the moment.
  19. those type listings look the same as others ive seen several months ago, they were mainly for peavey gear and cd's.im sure that he has had a name change though!wonder why
  20.
Id this instead of the BTA400? Here? Did they remember we have valves in our amps in this country?
the bta 400 is available at soundslive for £1439!no fear of me getting one! so now there is a vba 320 as well, wonder if that is made in usa like the bta 400.
  21.
Anyone heard about these beautys??? I really like the look of it ..... better start saving!
are they available yet?seen it on the ashdown site but nowhere else.
  22. i sometimes play through an old 1x15 cab at rehearsal, think its a home made job from years ago and its the best sounding 15" cab i have ever heard.when the owner decides to sell its mine for £50!
