  1. Doodlette lives !!! If not the Billy Sheehan pink, then at least a couple of Bones Brigade stickers...
  2. Very cool !! How does the LX fair up against a US version ?? The Peavey Randy Jackson was an absolute steal. Didn't he have a duck on one of these on his "Mastering the groove" video ??. I'll have to dig it out and have a look
  3. That's a cool little setup !! Cort basses especially are very underated and sound great. I've spent many, many hours step-writing drums tracks with an SR16. Fooled many into thinking we'd recorded a drummer in studio
  4. I know how you feel. I bought my Conklin GT7 sight-unseen from eBay... Lots of strange looks downwards to see if both my hands were at either end of the same string....
  5. A mate of mine has one of the original Patrick Eggle prototypes which was reviewed in Guitarist magazine way back when. It's a great instrument. I do remember playing a Milan bass when they came out, but it was a bit too much money for me at the time. Nice to see that one's alive & kicking
  6. Coming along nicely !! Always like seeing the progress shots
  7. I had a Hohner stick bass as well. There good basses. Be interesting to hear how your mods go.
  8. Is that an Eggle Milan bass I see there ??
  9. Very cool !!
  10. Firstly, Michael Manring is just a fantastic player. Amazing how all the changes in tuning do not detract from the music of the piece. Can I have the bass version of Phil Collen's original archtop Jackson PC1 ?? They did make one for Dusty Hill of ZZ Top, but I can't find a pic anywhere..
  11. Yup, always like that track from "Radio Free Albemuth". Joe Satriani played the solo as Stu couldn't afford to pay anybody. Joe was new on the same record company (Relativity Records), so Stu played on Joe's stuff and vice versa. I used to be able to play the first part, but the middle section is unbelievably difficult

    me toys

Yup, you can't go wrong with those three
  13. Not my particular cup of beverage, but It's nice to see something other than a Fender clone being released.
  14. Woah !! I found that it's good to have an internet currency convertor open as well. Makes you come down to earth after you get excited by the latest find
  15. Geez, it does go to show that these famous bassists are normal guys with an unusual job

    My new toy

Great of you not only to buy it for your niece, but to put the work in so it plays as it should
  17. Very cool. You must really love the basses if you had two built 10 years apart. That's brand loyalty for you.
  18. Personally, I wouldn't care about how it looks... If it sounds that good and plays that well, just get one. Best to have a fantastic live and recorded sound than something that doesn't quite nail the tone you want but looks better. Just get one in black instead of those lairy colours and you'll be fine
  19. That looks fantastic. Understated elegance The bolts are very unobstrusive, leaving the back nice and clean... I'm sure you now have very sweaty palms after playing for a while !! Huge congrats...
  20. I've saved a copy of all those quotes. Great stuff
  21. If the guitarist is playing the same riff over and over, you could call it a guitar ostinato. When you change what you were originally playing you're then reharmonising the guitar ostinato
  22. I walked into Mccormacks Music in Glasgow and found I walked into SX city. SX Jazz basses in blue, red, black and 2 tone burst I think the price was £129... Got to say I'm tempted....
  23. See I usually hate Jazz basses, but I would have a Sadowsky or a Lull. I've read nothing but great, great things about Mike Lull's basses. Another brand to add to the list when I go to the US in April for a whole 26 days !!
  24. On page 2 of this part of the forum, there's a thread titled "Sandberg". Quite a few comments there, all of them favourable
  25. That's a fantastic looking bass The Curbow bass is a great design with that tiny body and even tinier headstock. Greg Curbow R.I.P.
