  1. Just sold a neck to Chris that I originally bought from him! The curse of Basschat marketplace. Top lad, as ever. Cheers, Mart.
  2. Sold. Bought from a fellow basschatter a couple of years ago. A very late '77/early '78 factory fretless Fender Precision. (Serial no says 1977, neck and pickup dates say 1978).... In great condition for a 42 year old Bass, the finish has sunk into the grain in parts on the body, a few little marks here and there, and some lacquer chips on the headstock, but no major dings anywhere. Judging by the crazing in the headstock lacquer, I'd say it's been finished in nitro cellulose. The scratchplate has a slight warp in it, which isn't unusal for this era. The nut has been changed to brass, a long time ago from the looks of it, and likewise, the bridge barrels have also been replaced with brass items. Other than those, and some of the scratchplate and pickup screws, this is a very original instrument. The fingerboard has just been reshot and dressed to the correct radius by Mike Smith Guitars, Southport, and is a lovely piece of highly grained Rosewood, in perfect condition, that plays like new. Weight is typical Fender fretless fare, I'd say between 9 and 10 pounds. Not as heavy as the maple necked one I sold on here a few years ago, but meaty enough. A semi rigid case is included with the Bass, but for an extra £60, I'll throw in a Hiscox instead. Happy to courier, (I estimate £30-35 with insurance extra), or any buyer may collect. Any questions, please ask. Cheers. Mart
  3. Kev bought my NS Double Strings. Immediate payment, top Basschatter. Cheers, Mart.
  4. Bought a brand new Omega bridge from Mike. Super fast delivery, top geezer. Cheers, Mart.
  5. I tried to be a full time muso between 1994 and 2000, with limited success. I eventually packed in my full time job in Oct 2002, and joined a gigging band that was out 5 nights a week minimum. Ended up doing 9 tours of the states, played europe numerous times, played in Russia ( I can laugh about that experience now, but at the time....). Quit that band in 2013, struggled for a year while I reestablished myself as a jobbing player, am now caught up in a load of tribute band stuff, not really my thing, but the bills get paid... Even though it's been a financial struggle at times, I wouldnt change anything, except that I would have done it in 1984 and not waited until 2002....
  6. Brand new set of Double Bass strings, 3/4 length. SOLD. From their website..... "Designed in partnership with Ned Steinberger and NS Design, each string is designed to enhance the expressive range of tone sought after by the most discerning players. Full set, (E A D G). NS traditional Double Bass Strings are constructed and tensioned for a warm tone with great bow response. Designed primarily for electric upright bass, these medium tension strings feature a stranded steel core which provides optimum playability and produces a clear, warm tone. All D’Addario strings are designed, engineered and manufactured in the USA to the most stringent quality controls in the industry". Any questions, please ask. Cheers, Mart.
  7. Now sold . One set of used Pirastro Chromecor strings, I'm 99% certain they are Chromecors, due to the green silks at both ends. I've compared the strings to my Spirocore mediums, and I'd say these are also medium. Can't age them, as they arrived on a Bassix EUB, I picked up this week. I know the previous owner hadn't used the Bass for at least three years... They were pretty dead at first, but have come back to life somewhat after a few hours playing, the windings at bridge and tuning machines all look solid, except for the A, where you can see a slight unwinding over the bridge and at the tuning machine..... Priced at £30.00, which includes UK postage. Cheers, Mart.
  8. I used an original Gage Realist for years, with good results. But after seeing Stanley Clarke, I switched to an Underwood, and am much happier with the overall tone and especially, the clarity......
  9. ON HOLD WHILST THE BASS IS AWAY FOR FINGERBOARD MAINTENANCE. Breaks my heart letting this one go, but it doesn't get used and I have a new kitchen to fit. 12. SOLD, PENDING PAYMENT. Selling this lovely Warmoth J neck, it started its life as a fretted neck but had been defretted by the time it came to me. I had the fingerboard reshot and finished in 2019, giving a great feel with no buzzes whatsoever. Its had little to no use since, so is in excellent condition. Bit of an unusual grain pattern on the board, which is not quite as bright in the wood than it is on the pics. This a very useable and shallow neck, comparable in profile and depth to my JV Squier neck. Neck width at the nut is 38mm, heel width is 64mm and the body end depth inc finger board is 22-23mm. Being a Warmoth, the neck was cut for 21 frets, so it has the standard Warmoth overhang to accomodate this. Priced at £130, UK postage will be a tenner. I do have a nice quality sunburst J body that goes with this very nicely, I might be tempted to sell the two together if there is any interest. PLEASE NOTE, THE MACHINEHEADS AND STRING GUIDE ARE NOT INCLUDED WITH THE NECK. Cheers.
  13. I always found my first series Realist to be very sub heavy, and always had to dial out low end, no matter if I was using an amp or pre amp/di into the desk....

Bought a pair of cables from Tim. great comms and quick transaction over the christmas period. Recommended.
  15. Phil bought my Barefaced SuperTwelve T. He paid upfront and after sorting his own courier, rearranged the schedule to fit around my day. First rate Basschatter and a top geezer. Mart.
  16. Bought a set of Bare Knuckle J pickups from Alex. Great comms throughout and next day delivery. A Basschatter after my own heart. Cheers, Mart.
  17. Generation 2 Super Twelve T cabinet, from Barefaced Audio. Monstrously loud, and super light. Specs here: 2X12" Speakers and adjustable tweeter. 1000 watts at 4ohms. 30” H x 19.5” W x 13.5” D (76cm x 48cm x 34cm) 19Kg. In the same condition as when I bought it from fellow Basschatter chrisbass5 on here, back in June. (I've shamelessly used his original pictures). Comes with a Roqsolid cover, which has handle apertures, (one has a slight tear, shown in the pics), a locking velcroed flap on the bottom, and for ultimate overkill protection, a board to cover the speakers, which are already protected by a metal grill. Very good condition, with some scuffing to the feet, wheels and underside of the cab. And working perfectly. Due to its relative light weight, I would be prepared to courier this cab. But until such time as somebody required shipping, I don't have a price for that, but I would imagine it will be in the region of £30-40.... Any questions, please ask. Cheers.
  18. I'd need the money to buy it, and the money to get Bravewood to replicate the original sunburst finish... What a great Bass, glwts.
  19. Gavin bought my Nordstrand J pickups. Instant payment and a top lad to deal with, enjoy! Cheers, Mart.
